  • Chin ups 10, 11, 10, 9, 8, 9

  • Finished with EZ curl: 27 kg: 10, 18

45 minutes + 10 minutes warm up.

Tough one today, got absolutely pissed yesterday, drank Calvados we bought in France years back with my Mom and dad on holiday, whiskey, beer, wine and what not. Our bestest friends came over and joined in.

Fun story we met them in the supermarked in the afternoon they of course knew about Mom. We were standing in the doorway and they came rushing toward us and hugged the life out of us. I think the whole supermarked was about to get a heartattack. That was the fun moment of yesterday.

Training wise: deadlift tied a rep PR, with more in the tank the first 8 was quite easy.

Squat was pretty hard, thought that doing 6 reps with 80 would have been easy’ish but it wasn’t, however these felt like that best squats I’ve done for a while.

Last day of the first week, it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions.

It was a bit of a relief to just go down and lift some iron.

Topset was fine, a couple of cycles ago I did 8 reps with 45 kg today 1 rep more.

Bench was good.

My lower back has been a little angry, so backing up a bit on the BB rows only doing 3 sets and the last three sets of back is DB rows let’s see how that works out.

Assistance is just plugging along nicely a rep extra here and there and a bit of increase in weight.

Thursday is funeral service, it’s gonna be the worst day of my life. I’ve prepared a speech for the dinner afterwards. If I can pull it through Mom would be proud.

  • EZ curl 350 set: 27,5 kg @ 22, 15, 11 (48 reps)

1 hour + 10 minutes warm up.

So, I pussied out on the topset, squat was fine up to the first topset that felt heavy, and the money set was just not there. Bailed at 5 reps, then dropped to 80 kg did 8 reps, thought f*ck it, I’ll punish myself like Pwn does it, so took 10 – 15 breath got under the bar did 4, the 2 doubles took another 20 kg of the bar and continued. That sucked but damn those quads are sore today.

Deadlift was fine moved strong and fast.

Assistance was fine as well.

Thursday, we had funeral service for my mother, that became the longest darkest day of my life. The priest was very good, Mom said he was wordy to follow the old one. He was indeed.

It’s so strange I know she had a good life and a long life. She probably missed my old man, although she said she didn’t. She was sick and I knew she eventually would die, but not last Saturday.

Writing this I can see it’s exactly a week ago right now I rushed to the hospital.

We were 30 to the memorial dinner afterwards, I held a good speech, Mom would have been proud. I know what she would have said, she had spoken the exact words many times before during the last year and maybe even more: “Mort don’t be sad, remember the good times we’ve had" That is easy to say Mom I am sad and I do remember the good times.

Oh dear Mom I miss you, may your soul rest in peace together with my old man.

Did I write last week when we went down to say goodbye for the last time, there were a thunderstorm rolling over. We looked at the lightning and said laughing and in tears, they just found each other.

Thought I could do 9 on top set bench, I couldn’t so roll of shame. Was convinced I had it.

Well that’s fine, Bench is moving.

OHP was tough.

Assistance is gardening in my parents’ house that we bought.

Yesterday had a 700+ km drive and an interview. Is that a rest day?

Make sure you’re eating, dude. That’s like 3 kilo in a week or two. Which I am jealous of, but that is a different story.

Didn’t miss anything had to talk to somebody in Jylland I just didn’t have a word for for it.

And it’s just 2 kg nothing serious, just keeping that beachbody in shape.

Ah, I thought it was like “job interview”, but I guess your job involves interviewing people.

I tend to freak about my little 2 to 3 kilo swings, so I am probably projecting that onto you =). Feel like my beachbody shape is more like beach ball shape.

Mine aren’t sudden and they’re not a mystery. I’m actually thrown off by the timing. The scale should’ve jumped over a week ago but it waited until I finally got away from work.

Tonight is the family birthday party for my son and then I have a pool party to attend this weekend. I need to get it together if I’m going to look sexy on Saturday.

Fortunately, someone referred to me as part of the cast of 300 two years ago at this same party and that was when I was fatter and had smaller shoulders. That means I should still look okay to them.

Yes. It’s the 6th annual hotdog bar pool party. They cook up dozens of hotdogs and people bring different toppings. Kids are present but it’s an adult party and often includes grown man 3 on 3 basketball in the pool.

It is literally a weiner fest. And it’s a blast.
