The Danish Viking: back to 531: Road to 2-3-4 Plates

I just missed an hour of the day, the log said both you and I commented an hour ago… weird

Maybe it was a glitch in the matrix ! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I wondered what that black cat was doing in my living room.

That film always makes me feel really old because I distinctly remember watching it first time out the bag and yet I have many colleagues who weren’t even born then.

Good lifting @mortdk has @simo74 talk of work capacity rubbed off on you?

Solid work, my friend. I like that you seem to be rotating the order of the main lifts each workout as to not prioritize energy for one. Be safe!

yeah a bit maybe, but remember in the autumn I did 4 times a week SBD 4-6 sets each, but with little intensity.

It’s really just BBB with opposite lifts.
Today I did the main work of squat 5’s week, with 5 sets of DL ad supplemental, I do them as 5 reps because doing 10 would remove my soul every time I guess.

Good day today, did 11 reps on bench, rpe 8,5.

Everything moved fine today, and I had a blast.

Upper days not as draining as lower, who’d guess that.

Denmark is opening slowly after Easter… doing it by sending kids and the first 5 grades back to school. This rest is still pretty locked down until mid may.

I do not know if this is the right thing to do, I have to trust the wise men.

I wonder how many parents will actually send their kids though, our schools have been open, however we had under 30 kids in the whole school for the last week.
How many cases of the Chinese Pox is floating around confirmed in Denmark, I think our whole state here only has 400 or thereabouts, and only a couple of new cases in last few days.

Confirmed just over 5000 and 203 dead. There’s a considerable number around 11 - 15 times higher because we haven’t tested very much.
Population here is 5,6 million. The curve is flattening, and some says there are to few cases to get the important rate of immune people over I think it’s 60%

EDIT: just read that the number of dead is 218 (15 last 24 hours)
But the number of people on hospital and intensive care is dropping. Our healthcare system isn’t working overtime yet. So what we’ve been doing has worked.

I heard Oz might keep some kind of restriction around until a vaccine. There’s some community transmission rn so might produce another peak if we relax.

They said on the local news tonight that our hospitals are pretty chilled, no flu cases in hospital yet, very low car accidents and very few drunken problems due to pubs and clubs being shut

I don’t really know what to think. If this thing is as serious as they say then opening things back up without a vaccine is going to result in another spike. The virus hasn’t died or disappeared yet.

There is information coming out here in the US that makes it look like our officials are lying to us. I’m not sure if it’s a political thing or if they just want to make sure they appear to be “right” about shutting down the economy. I just learned that a co-worker’s grandma died in NY. She’s been in and out of the hospital because she has a severe diabetes problem. She was in her 80s. She died and the cause of death has been labeled Covid 19 because she tested positive.

There have been reports of deaths by pneumonia being changed to Covid 19. Someone dies from a heart attack but tests positive for the virus? You guessed it - cause of death is Covid 19. Stage four cancer - Covid 19. Seems a bit suspicious.

They also just announced on the local radio that our cases are predicted to peak next week which is two weeks early. That’s weird. It kind of sounds like this thing isn’t as serious as they predicted. Unfortunately, we’ll never know. Is this fizzling out because of the social distancing and shutdown or was it never a serious threat? It’s the chicken or the egg argument.

I hear the same stories about cases in Italy and Spain from friends of mine. They are testing people through the phone and that makes me reaaaaaally suspicious too.
Where I live now(Germany) a doctor from Kiel came out saying that the test that most of the countries are using is right in about 50% of the cases. And that is actually his best-case scenario for the results, since you can give a positive and not be sick .

Since this is a fitness log-found an old 10 kg KB and in a combo with a band i am going for those 10.000 KB swings inspired by you so… big THANKS(mortdk)

Several. With a periodic mix of tightening and losening restrictions you would be looking at a duration of about 2 years until immunity has reached the critical tipping point. That is the result of a scientofical projection specifically for Germany at least. This is only one of the many possible scenarios. The aim would be to let people infect themselves with the virus but in such numbers that the healthcare system can handle it. That’s why it would be necessary to losen restrictions (infections rise) and then tighten again (limit infections to managable number).

That is common around the world. In our country that is no secret at all and doctors tell about it on the state owned tv channels, in newspapers etc. People who had the virus at the point of death are counted into the statistics. If they in fact died because of the infection is not further investigated. The other way around, people who don’t die in the hospital (say in Italy because hospitals are flowing over) might very well die because of a Corona virus infection but would not count into the statistics because no one knows. Then there are the people who die because they can’t get the healthcare they need in countries where the healthcare system already reached it’s break down (again, sadly Italy where people over a certain age who would require breathing aid can only be medicated with opiods and sleeping meds to let them die as human as possible. If they had the Coronavirus or any other lung problem is irrelevant).

Good point. I see a lot of people here complaining about the restrictions on public life in the name of health protection. They validate that by saying that the virus is not as serious in Germany as it is in other countries. What they fail to see in my opinion is that we have a comparable “good” situation here because we are prepared and because of the same restrictions people get worked up about!
Still there are a lot of confirmed cases and since we don’t do random testing at this point, the actual number could be as much as 5 times higher.

So I’d say it’s a hard and difficult time to call the shots. All in all I am pretty pleased with the way our officials are handeling things, as are most people here.

Stay safe everybody

Hey Mort, been terrible at keeping up with your log (and everyone’s to be fair) but just caught up and glad to see you’re doing ok.

Woke at 77,1 kg

@Frank_C I get your points, @Koestrizer did cover most of my response.
Here we shut down almost immediately, and people are quite cautious, this means that not enough are infected.
As I said I’m only watching having my own thoughts: is this the right way or not, I do however not know it, that’s why I’ll let the wise guys do the math and then I’ll listen to them, hoping they know what they are doing.

Here we have the occasional doctor or scientist saying that it all wrong and they know the truth. But they seem to stand very much alone. They might be right but in regards to the rest of the government, the healthcare system and the likes they seem to stand very much alone. It’s like the guy with the banner saying the world will end tomorrow… Maybe but not likely.

You’re very welcome, however I’ve only dipped my toes in the water. I hope you’ll finish it, I think the first week might be the hardest, where your body adopt to all the swings. The rest looks like it’s about sucking it up, because you’re trying to beat the best times, not sure that’s the goal, but on the logs where they actually have done it… It looks like they try to go faster and faster.

Sometimes it’s hard to do so, this place is fun but if you follow a lot of logs, well it takes a lot of time.
Hope you’re doing fine as well. How’s the virus situation treating you.

Things aren’t too bad. I’ve been in lockdown a couple of weeks now at my parents’ house with my girlfriend and it’s nice to spend time with them. Things get a little boring sometimes, especially when my girlfriend is at work but it could be a lot worse.

55 minutes + 10 minutes warm up.

.

Topset of deadlift was freaking awesome, 10 reps easy, holding the bar in top position for a breath of air after rep 6, 8 and 9 had at least 2 more easy. So happy. (Previous PR is 12 reps with 125 kg)

Then squats came around, oh boy strength wise and technique wise I feel it’s good but damn leaves me totally out of breath.

After the last set I almost shut the session down, but then took a full 5 – 8 minutes break and finished strong with the assistance.

If I keep this pace the 180 kg deadlift should be in the cards at the end of the year.
