The Christian Agenda Continues

“Well, flamer, you do realize that people who abstain from alcohol and drugs are actually addicted to abstention. Same principle.”

Same principle…VERY different results, outcomes, health implications, societal implications, economic
implications…Don’t even compare the two, what’s the matter with you?

Explain Reginald Foster when he says the Catholics polled over there prefer to petition dead

Occultism?

Brother Chris did not have an answer but retorted: “What does this have to do with Fatima?”

Nothing, I was clearly asking a very simple question this time…I repeat in the simplest, easiest of language:

Explain Reginald Foster when he says the Catholics polled over there prefer to invoke dead
saints rather that to go straight to Jesus who’s not even priority one? That is Necromancy…WTF are they teaching there in Rome?
Occultism?

You’re the one that changed the subject. I’m not going to play into your machine gun fallacy, either answer my question to you about Fatima or I’m done talking.

Karado, after you’re finished answering Brother Chris’ question about Fatima, and after you work out what I was actually saying in my comment about abstention being an addiction, maybe you can explain why, after a year on this site, you still haven’t figured out how to use the quote feature.

That would be a ‘no’.

Oh I thought you were being mindless, Sorry

“Well, flamer, you do realize that people who abstain from alcohol and drugs are actually addicted to abstention. Same principle.”

my statement was directed at this statement. It would be akin to comparing some one that has a compulsion to murder to some one that does not

Pittbull, that was actually my statement. Karado was quoting me, but you can’t tell because he hasn’t figured out how to use the quote function.

The statement was meant to be a sarcastic comment on the statement that atheism could be considered a form of religion.

By that logic, so I meant to imply, abstaining from drugs could be considered a form of addiction.

Karado, as is his wont, misunderstood me to mean that I was comparing religion to drug abuse.

Glad you clarified that  And glad you were being sarcastic

yawn

This is getting tiresome. You want to play the semantics game. You want to dwell on nuances.

Okey dokey. How 'bout this? Atheism IS a defacto or quasi religion. Does that satisfy you? It’s devout adherents must rely on faith for its fundamental assertions. It’s devout adherents spread their faith with a religious-like fervor. I could go on and on but I have done so in the recent years, the years of your sabbatical, and don’t feel compelled to rehash it again.

Thing is…some of its (atheism) followers have conceded this point right here on these pages. so it’s interesting that a non-follower, you, Sir Varq of the Open Mind, is disputing this.
[/quote]

Atheism is a disbelief in the existence of a deity . Plain and simple. It is the absence of a religion

Push:

I’m just amused that I can call the Soviet Union a theocracy, and people say NUH-UH!! they were ATHEISTS!!!

Then when I say that an ostensible atheist who worships science or communism or money or whatever is actually an idolator, and therefore religious, people (not you, by the way) say NUH-UH!!! Not religious! Still atheist!!!

And now when I say that calling atheism, independent of any other beliefs that an atheist may have, a religion makes as much sense as calling non-drug use an addiction, this time you are the one saying I’m wrong.

So let’s try this: if “Soviet Union” and “Atheism” are equivalent terms, as they seem to be in Pat’s an Sloth’s book, let’s do a little substitution in your previous paragraph.

“Okey dokey. How 'bout this? The Soviet Union IS a defacto or quasi religion. Does that satisfy you? It’s devout adherents must rely on faith for its fundamental assertions. It’s devout adherents spread their faith with a religious-like fervor.”

Either you’re wrong, or Pat is. Which is it?
