It seems America is starting to get it, we have to buy from each other.
This commercial is awesome.(Yes I know dodge took bailout money, will never buy from them but thought this video was great.)

I hope it continues to grow. The idea that we have to buy a bunch of toxic shit from China is ludicrous. We can make whatever we need right here in the USA. Support your community, your state, and your country.
You don’t spend and print your way out of a depression. That isn’t economics 101, it is economics for dumbasses. You produce your way out and you follow a sound fiscal and foreign policy.
And one other thing, fuck globalism. The only thing it has done for America is send all of our manufacturing overseas and cost us millions of jobs.

OMG BUT THE FREE-MARKET!!! BRO, REAGAN WILL BOMB YOU
But seriously, its called the “Deskilling of labour” some dude name Marx wrote about it: It’s real, and its happening. Good day sir.
It seems to me that, while we certainly should be encouraged to buy American-made products, we should also demand at least as much from the manufacturers themselves. Is it not just as important that we let American companies know thru our spending that it takes more than an appeal to patriotism to get us to buy their products? We should also be attracted to their products because of their quality and affordability. There are many consumer goods that are readily available here that are either poorer in quality or unjustifiably more expensive compared to their foreign competitors. All I’m saying is that I’ll always try to buy American products, but I’m not going to do so based strictly on where it comes from; I still demand a high level of quality and affordability regarding certain goods.

Yes its all free markets fault, nothing to do with that pesky progressive tax Marx loves so much. You just keep on pretending most buisnesses don’t leave because of taxes.

I agree with you, but I think with the buy american trend will be a return to quality. America had the best quality at some of the lowest prices before(not a lot of regulations) and we can do it again if we can get the government off there backs.

Opponents of Free trade said this would happen, and were called Socialists/Liberals/Retards. But hey! lower prices are good right? How about the wholesale dismantlement of the North American industrial complex? Between automation and outsourcing, I think we’re going to see some major wage
deflation.
During my last year in Uni, I read an article called ‘Are Your Wages Set in Beijing?’. I honestly forget the journal I read it in (was class on International Political-Economy), but the point of the matter is… no. The vast majority of low-skilled American jobs are service-sector oriented, and as a result, are incredibly difficult to outsource.
People like the dude that sweeps up at my gym, or the guy that checks tickets at the cinema.
And by vast majority, I mean that 77% of the US economy is us trading with us. We are incredibly insulated from the vicissitudes of the global market.
Marx was concerned about the mechanization of the labor force, which, if anything, has moved overseas to the marxist republics of China and Vietnam where factory workers turn dials at precise times to make widgets to go into goods assembled in plants in America under Japanese and SKorean names. The enemy of this point of Marx’s contention is education, and the fact that America has used it to develop new technologies and IP, and export them around the world.
I hate ‘Buy America’. If American goods are the best and the cheapest, I’ll buy them. If they are not competitive… I will not. No appeal to patriotism will make me buy a Dodge.
Comparative advantage.
That is all.

If you eliminate the progressive tax and put in the fair tax(flat retail sales tax) manufacturing jobs will flow into America. This problem is not the result of the free market but because of government interference.
Once you get rid of taxes(with the exception of the sales tax) this problem will correct itself.
This is a government problem not a free market problem, opponents of the Progressive income tax have been saying this for a long time, liberal retards said we hated the poor.

We haven’t had a free market in this country for a very long time. Our government is set up to protect very large corporate and banking interests while at the same time cracking down and taxing the shit out of any small American company or business. God forbid, those little people should start eating away at corporate profits.
And let’s get another thing straight. The quality of products coming from these large corporations is fucking garbage. Walk into any Walmart, you aren’t buying quality stuff there. The food is a bunch of factory farmed shit and all the merchandise is from China. The food from a road side stand in your community is so much more nutritious.
Everything is tipped towards the big guys getting more and more of a share of the market. That isn’t a free market working, this is fascism. Ron Paul alluded to this as “corporatism”, the merger of corporate and state powers. Where everything is geared toward “TOO BIG TO FAIL”.

The Government does not need to get off their backs. They need to get out of bed with the Labor Unions.

Natural result of a ‘mixed’ economy…if you don’t take over the government and use it to club your rivals into submission, they will do it to you, but harder. Banks won.
So, we have a government of the Banks, for the Banks, and by the Banks. Started around 1913 or so…
As an English person, I find this advertisement almost impossibly funny. Saw it first in the world cup and couldn’t stop laughing.

Our demand for cheap crap is too insatiable for manufacturing to return to the US under this paradigm. We need to get people interested in, and buying, more expensive, quality products if there’s any hope.
Taxes are an easy target, but do you really think the companies making shitty-quality whatevers and paying their workers $.30 will ever move back here? Even if we had no taxes? We need to eliminate taxes, eliminate min-wage, a come up with a population willing to live on $10 a week so the rest of us can consume the cheap shit they make…
…or we can start paying more for higher quality goods.
