All sets were shooting for 15 reps. Sometimes petered our round 12 but not many. Overall a kick ass session. Legs are pretty wobbly still from yesterday but that was expected.

Today’s a nonstop grind. Kids to school at 7:30am and will get back from work round 9:00 pm. Appointments/ meetings/ and teaching on the hour every hour. Oh boy!!!

Haven’t posted a photo update In a while but I’ve been doing a lot to try to build the thickness in my back. The two images are about 1 year apart. But the weight is pretty similar

I marvel at your energy. I mean, I do half that volume, and I wanna pass out in a giant pile of steaming crap after HEARING about a workout followed by a work schedule like that. I guess that’s why you’re Jacked Jack and I’m sooo not.

When I say similar… first pic is probably 168-170 and second is like 175-177. But I’m also leaner in the second pic

I always take the week of Thanksgiving and two weeks at Christmas off work and totally decompress. Won’t lie… I’m looking forward to it more than usual this year

I know that’s the purpose as of right now, just curious to see you do another of those crazy cuts.
How far of the competition will you start a cut? Asking because I did a cut that lasted about 6 month or so, and I just think that I did it wrong. Staying in a deficit for that long took a lot of my strength away.

Depending on how heavy I get I’ll do between 12-16 weeks. Right now I’m about 5 lbs he’s drier than when I started my cut last year. Hopefully some of its muscle lol. I’m hoping to put on another 5-10 before the end of the year. As the log title says, I’ve been chasing the elusive 185 for a long while

And your right it zaps your strength for sure. I’d just give myself some carbs pre workout for energy and feel lethargic the rest the day. :joy::joy::joy:

Woke 175.4

Wednesday’s are always a little tough to get going after my 7:00 am to 9:00 pm Tuesday’s. Got the oldest to school round 8 and to work by 8:15. No one was in yet so here I am on T nation. Nice to just chill with a coffee for a few.

I have a few morning gymnastics classes to teach and then training round noon.

Today’s workout will consist of

Back
Lat pulls
Straight arm lat pulls
Alternating deadlift and bent over rows
High cable rows superset with low cable rows. Will do each arm independently

Biceps
Incline seated dumbbell curls
Ez bar curls
Cross body hammer curls
Isolation curls

Don’t know why but really looking forward to lifting today and that’s refreshing. Hit my 3500 calories yesterday and were going out to dinner tonight so should hit it again no problem. Trying to gain weight slowly and consistently is honestly tougher for me than cutting. I tend to either binge and have 5000+ calories or I get busy for a couple of days and only get 1800 or so. I struggle with consistency in surplus eating. Gotta plan better.

Well enough of that it’s time to get productive.

Bingeing aside, are you certain it is such a bad thing to occassionally run a deficit for a few days? It’s almost as if you are intuitively doing the Cycle Diet (Scott Abel). I wish I had time to write out my thinking in full, but if we first look at the opposite goal (losing weight) and consider the studies around the MATADOR-diet (two weeks deficit, two weeks maintenance), Zig-zag-dieting, fasting (Primer 52: The Program - Bigger Stronger Leaner - COMMUNITY - T NATION), and 5:2 for athletes and then turn that on its head, then your eating pattern will at least not let you build up any anabolic resistance (good thing), while maintaining a high insulin sensitivity (a good thing), and continue letting your body stay adept at using bodyfat for fuel.

Woke at 178

Today was a milestone. I purchased my cable machine a little over 2 years ago. The two stacks together say 300 lbs but I’d guess it’s close to 200 actually. Anyways when I started I couldn’t chest press the whole stack once.

I’ve been shooting for 3 sets of 15 with 90 seconds rest… and today I DID IT!!!

I have two twenty lb magnetic weight that I can add to the stack. So that should take a bit to accomplish.
