Crazy! Would have thought trying to hit curls in the 3-5 rep range would more likely be a bicep tendon separating culprit

Keep having a little too much fat and not enough carbs. Shooting for more like 450 carbs and 75 fat
You are literally eating about twice as much food as I am, right now. My weight would be screaming back up if I started eating like that.
Well, we did it all to be honest. I actually didn’t know I tore my tendon until I went to see an ortho about my first shoulder surgery. He told me he thought the other would go soon too and sure enough, about 3 weeks later I felt it pop. By that time though, it was just holding on by a string.
The tears have permanently reduced my arm circumference and they look like shit at certain times, especially the preacher curl.
2 yrs out of surgery repairing a torn bicep tendon and its just now looking similar in size to the other, and that’s with working it good since the surgery
One always been like this. Even with my prep the for the majority of it I cut at around 2400 calories.
Bicep problems start at the shoulder bros!
If your shoulders are internally rotated and slumped, bicep tendons are stressed and take Hell all day long.
Don’t forget your Y Raises!
I’m sitting in the exam room waiting to schedule my surgery now! This damn tendon won’t stay in the groove. It’s also causing weakness and instability. I’ve had enough.
It’s not too late to GTF out of there!
I’m gonna hope I never have to deal with that one. Sounds terrible
I didn’t know you were even considering having surgery on it. Thought you were just dealing with it. When did you make that decision?
I’ve been planning it for awhile. It took over a month to see the doctor again so it’s given me time to assess it as time passes. Surgery is scheduled for June.
@FlatsFarmer, the tendon pops out of the groove too often. That results in pain, inflammation, and more pain throughout the day. There may be damage to the rotator cuff tendon and labrum as well. It’s one of those things that I can choose to live with or get fixed. My entire shoulder girdle is weaker and I have trouble getting tight and stable while doing just about everything in the gym.
How can I just let that go? I hate it. Lifting is what I enjoy and it keeps me sane. I’m not happy with how everything feels and works. If this is as good as it gets without surgery, but surgery will make it better, then I want surgery.
This isn’t one of those surgeries that might help; it will definitely help.
Well if it will definitely help I guess it’s the right thing to do.
Especially if there may be a problem with something in your shoulder, that is causing the bicep problem, that the Doctor can clean up while he’s in there. Or she. Ladies can be doctors.
It’s a “he” in this case. My biggest concern long term is the fraying of the tendon that will occur as it slides around and pops out of the groove. That causes inflammation and pain. I don’t know if it’ll ever wear away to the point where the tendon would tear/rupture, but it definitely means I’d be living with near constant tenderness in that spot. Who wants to do that? If I was 65 then I might feel differently. I’m young enough that I think it’s worth it. Hopefully I have more years ahead of me than I do behind me (34).
I had my shoulder surgery on January 25th. I’m still not allowed to lift anything with that arm. I still go to the gym and do cardio and one arm cable stuff and legs but I’m starting to go crazy. I’m losing mass and gaining fat. If its your shoulder, then its a minimum of 6 weeks of immobility. Just be prepared.
I make gains at that intake lol
This will be my second shoulder surgery. The first was a completely different issue. I had hip surgery Dec '17 and it was 12 weeks before I was released to train that leg.
This will be six weeks in a sling and probably at least three months before I’m released. I’ve done it before.
It’s too bad my hip is still bothering me. Otherwise, this would be a great time to focus on legs.

Fat is still high but I’m done eating on the chuck roast I made so going to chicken, fish, and shrimp for a bit should help

I’m honestly getting tired of eating. I find that 2700-3000 calories is easy and pretty comfortable for me but it’s tough getting in the rest sometimes… especially when eating clean.
Did just a few body weight and resistance band exercises today since I’m going to test my bench on Friday. Probably not a proper deload like some of the strength guys, but just might allow for 10 more lbs come Friday.
I’ve had a lifelong goal of a 2x bodyweight bench press but have never focused much on it. I think it’s probably more doable with a body weight closer to 165 for a 330 press. Right now at 175 I’m not feeling like a 350 press is even remotely possible. Guess we’ll just wait and see.
Dang yea eating those macros clean sounds pretty tough. Do you season your food much? Also a double bodyweight bench would be really cool
I season meat, but don’t add salt to food in general. I consume a lot of hot sauce though. For some reason spicy makes everything more palatable for me!
And to be clear I don’t expect to make the double bodyweight lift. Would be pretty awesome though!
