The Breakfast Sandwich and Burrito Bulk - Jackolee

What is this Texas whiskey you speak of? And I’m more of a bourbon guy than a Scotch guy, but I have had some aged Glenfiddich (25 I think) once at a friend’s 30th birthday party, and that was some really good stuff. Of course, I enjoy bourbon that I get for $30/bottle more than I enjoy Scotch that goes for $100’s/bottle, so it’s a no-brainer when I’m buying for myself.

I love your backyard. Hopefully mine will be pretty cozy by the end of this summer, but I’m just going with a relatively pedestrian raised wooden deck so it won’t be that fancy.

Tx whisky is just a brand name. It’s got these super smooth vanilla hints and is so delicious. They have a bourbon whisky too that is really awesome too. You should try it out. The 750 ml is about 45-50 bucks

Sounds brutal. I couldn’t do that. My dad has a landscape company and I spent many hours of my life doing that sort of stuff (never anything like that though) and I really struggle to the most basic yard work now. After doing so much of it for other people I hate doing it for myself.

Slept in till 8 this morning and it felt good. One of those really restful sleeps where you wake up slowly, fall back asleep, and then gradually get going.

Wife left at 5 for a gym meet, so I took the kid to gymnastics practice. Spent some time up there talking to one of the other parents and then met a buddy at lifetime fitness for a workout. The schedule this week has gotten a little screwed up so we did a little legs, some shoulders and some back. Good overall workout and fun to lift with a friend.

Bar x 12
135 x 12
185 x 10

Good overall session for a Saturday. The gym was packed and I ran into a ton of people that I knew so there was a lot more socializing than normal. Sort of nice to move at a slower pace every now and again and not have the heart rate up for the whole workout.

So far cottage cheese, fruit, and oats for breakfast, burrito bowl with double rice and double chicken for lunch, chuck roast, rice and potato’s for late afternoon meal, and who knows for dinner. Hmmm, I’ve had no veggies today…

In other news I went pants shopping the other day and stumbled into this crazy Asian hip hop wear store. They had the wildest stuff I’d ever seen. My daughter and I went in just to look around and laugh a bit. Then I notice some pants that are really cool. They’re sort of like a carhart work dungeree, but sort of distressed with pleating around the knees like a biker Jean. I decide to try them on and ended up loving them. Got a pair in army green and a pair in khaki. Score!

My weights been a little all over the place the last week. I guess that’s expected when your more relaxed about your diet. I’ve been fairly consistent with hitting my target macros

Going to take a rest day today and get ready for a big week ahead. Works gonna be super busy. My athletes have their state meet this weekend as well so their last training sessions will be super important.

Oh, so now that you’re out of competition mode, we’re going to get fashion shows instead of gun shows and ab shows? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m pretty big on flavor. So whiskey pretty much trumps all the other spirits for me (though I like an occasional cognac, too). I can’t remember the last time I had rum!

That said, any love for rye? I find most bourbons a little sweet to my taste, and some of my favorite rye whiskeys (and I have a few!) fit the bill perfectly. Nice price point, too.

I like rye as a mixer, but not a big fan of it straight. I like a little bit of sweetness in my bourbon, but not over the top syrup like Wild Turkey. I’m a big fan of Maker’s 46.

Bourbon has to be made with 51% corn to be bourbon. Corn tends to be sweeter than Rye. Also, Bourbon can’t be higher than 160proof so it’s not as strong as other whisk(e)ys can be.

Have you tried a mint julep? My now “go to” drink. I make my own mint simple syrup and get some Bulleit Rye whiskey.

I have not. Never been much of a mint fan. But if we ever do this Texas t nation dudes get together you’ll have to make me one

Let me know when you do that, I’m still a Texan by birth and at heart, just currently displaced due to economics.

I think the 173,yesterday was just dehydration as we had drinks on Saturday night and I had a little more than I normally would.

My best friend from high school is in town this week and we got in a workout together. Sometimes I’m amazed that we’re still friends. We literally have nothing in common except for our friendship. He leans left, I lean right, he’s vegan, I love meat, he’s a college philosophy professor, I’m a coach, he loves to argue, I dispose it, etc, etc.

He has decided to get back into shape and has been lifting and doing yoga for the past six months. Two days of weights and 4 days of yoga. He wanted to do a workout with me, and damn he pushed it hard. Was super proud of home

Today was back and biceps

Foam roller
Deadlifts 3 x 20 @ 135
Bent over barbell rows 3 x 15 @ 145

Superset
Wide arm lat pulls 3 x 15 @ 100/110/120
Straight arm lat pulls 3 x 15 @ 60/70/80

Superset (v handle)
High cable rows 3 x 15 @ 150
Mid cable rows 3 x 15 @ 150
Low cable rows 3 x 15 @ 150

Incline dumbbell curls 3 x 15 @ 25/25/30
Standing isolation curls 3 x 15 @ 25/25/30
Narrow grip ez curl bar 21’s @ 65 (3 sets)

Wimpy guys version of poundstone curls
20lb ez curl bar for 100 reps
Superset with underhand marrow grip bar pull downs
6 on each stack… made 39 reps before tapping out.

Solid session today with my buddy.

Still have to clean the pool, so the chemicals, prep lunches, and then head to work. Feeling much leaner at 176 than I did last go round. Curious as to where I’ll stall out on weight gain. I sure hope it’s onto the 180s!

I can’t imagine finishing 100 curls and thinking “let’s do 39 more, just for squirts and giggles”
Dedication right there.

I watched a video of @T3hPwnisher doing 100 reps with a damn axle. Made my attempt fit nicely into the wimpy category! :joy::joy::joy:

I think this is how I blew out both bicep tendons. Me and my old partner used to do crazy strip sets on curls till we could hardly lift our arms. Now I have a big dent in each arm where my bicep tendon used to be.

That is exactly where you went wrong :joy:

So light weight but crazy high reps beyond fatigue did it? You’d think that the Biceps tendon could structurally tolerate that much weight with zero muscle tension
