Not one shit. The entire endocrine system tends to be ignored around these parts!
csulli wrote:

I enjoyed the actual conversation about it. Seems others wanted to discuss it but we were told we couldn’t because we couldn’t “prove” anything. Not sure why we can’t discuss something we can’t “prove”.

Apparently discussing something that people experience while getting “Leaner” in a forum with that word in it, offends people who may, or may not, be carrying even a little extra. Otherwise, it might be taken as a personal slight.

Perhaps though, your notable irritation with any slight hint of that particular feeling (if even true or not) conveys a bit of self issues. Obviously something about the subject gets you touchy.

And as to the thought that knowing about cutting means more knowledge about putting on LBM,… that’s absurd. As it’s been explained by many others already, it’s not the possibility of putting on LBM that gets props, it’s just the verifiability aspect.

haha, ok, sorry for misinterpreting

don’t really have self issues, just see some people here(not you) attempting to discredit every post on every possible topic from others simply because they are carrying more BF%, even when they are likely carrying a lot more LBM than themselves

Agreed. It is like building a shit load of muscle now takes second place to “abs alone”.
Hasn’t it though? I was under the impression that these forums were for people not interested in hitting the stage, but just being more “fit”, whatever their interpretation of the word. These days having visible abs and an athletic build is more associated with fitness than the “Built Like a Brick Shithouse” look.

You clearly don’t agree with this concept but maybe the times-they-are-a-changin’? What was “cool” and “fit” and “looks like he works out!” in the 90s is very different from today. Abzz are in as sad is that may seem to someone.
I guess you missed the last word in the Forum title-Leaner. This forum was created for EVERYBODY ELSE that enjoys lifting but don’t/won’t compete. Seems that encompasses quite a few different “ideals” than what you are talking about up there. Fore some reason though, it seems there was an immediate attempt after it’s creation to be about just being big. Doesn’t look like it’ll work, however.

As if the statement you quoted holds any actual water at all anyway. Typical parsing of what’s actually going on.
Hmmm…seems I may have mis-represented myself. I’m in the leaner camp. I was supporting the notion that walking around in a leaner state is regarded as more “fit” than in the full house state and that I would rather appear the current definition of “fit” all year long than after a few years of work.
My bad, then. You’re seeming agreement with the statement that building lots of muscle takes second place to “abs alone” set the tone of the rest of your post for me.

In no way has any body said sacrifice muscle growth for abs. It’s precisely this kind of twisting that sets things off. No one has ever said it. I assumed wrongly you were in agreement with that sentiment.

Again, sorry for mis-reading.

Well yea that’s an interesting point. I’ve been kind of trying to conduct little experiments on this board to better understand the dynamic between Professor X and shitstorms.

There was the last thread where I think I kinda said the exact things X wanted to say, but in my own words, and no one disagreed with me.

Then in this thread I asked specifically what the disagreement was about, and Maiden said “read insulin sensitivity”. So I did. And then I made a big, science-y post about it trying to argue IN FAVOR of what Professor X had been saying that everyone apparently vehemently disagreed with, and literally no shits were given. Everyone just continued to shitstorm with the Prof.

So I guess the conclusion is that people simply desire to argue with X and the actual subject matter of the discussion is of little or no importance.

Some people do. Others actually seem to have support for their arguments.

The sentiment I wanted to express was that it seems like X has the mindset that what he does defines fitness. It’s like talking to an extremist. Sure a lot of people got huge by bulking up and carry around weight but barber’s also used to be surgeons, we all thought eggs were bad for you and Cher used to have a daughter. Things change and mindsets change.

People used to think that having visible abs and putting on slabs of muscle we like two peddles on a bicycle: they both can’t be up at the same time, they are conflicting and opposing. This just ins’t the case anymore so why not walk around year-round in the new age conforming to the new definition of fitness.

NB: I had wine for lunch at work. One of those days.

You’re doing it wrong.

Start treating everyone who disagrees with you like they are an idiot and pretend you are an all-knowing authority who has never been wrong. Then see what the response is.

Don’t you tell me what I’m doing right or wrong you dumb sonofabitch. Listen I finished all my chemistry labs in record time when I was in high school so I think I know wtf I’m talking about here.

Actually I think at the point you posted it, no one involved with the previous shit storm about IS wanted to touch it with a ten-foot pole. I for sure new what would happen if it was discussed. It would just be shoving another shit storm on top of another shit storm.

It’s like the Ghostbusters proton streams, you can’t cross the shit storms. Bad things happen.

As far as it concerns me, I tend to point out exactly where shit gets twisted and turned to suit a position and hold whoever is trying it accountable. Take your example of reposting stuff he said. All that stuff had been posted by others first to refute a statement he made. Several pages later, those same words started creeping into his posts. This then gets used as ammunition for him to say, “I never said that”, “I actually agreed with that”. It’s all just a way to keep crap going while trying to blame others for causing it.

even though i tend to agree with not worrying about your hawt abdz so much when you are trying to get bigger and stronger, especially if you are a “skinnier” bodytype,

i feel that some people will end up looking like me when i was a young guy than the “full house” look X is talking about if they eat to excess like I did.

i seriously doubt most people here would want that.

i totally hear what csulli is saying , but i tend to agree with you more.

why? i care not to break it down, but when these X and few friends vs the masses erupt, it just to me seems more like a arguement about how great he thinks he is.

X: whaaaaaaaat!!! how dare you think i am not totally awesome!!!

everybody else: “uh, no, your not”

X: “you clearly are either stupid or immature or insane if you cant see how totally awesome i am, run along now boy”

in other words, when it gets to the point it did in the predecessor to this thread, it just does not seem to have any foundation in rational thought,

not sure how to put it,

it seems more like an argument one might overhear at junior high recess between a 13 year old know-it-all semi-bully and a group of other kids who are just fed up and not hearing it anymore.

again, i will admit that i actually agree with most (not all) of X’s basic thoughts on training and diet, it is just the way he comes across on these boards that i find off-putting and leads me to want to stick it to him every now and then.

like i said before just because you are right about something their is no need to be a self-righteous pompous dick about it.
