The Biggest Loser: Looking for a Powerlifter

wow, this is amazing i got a BMI of 30 and im in the military. so everytime i run my PRT i have to be measured to make sure i dont fail. its crazy my BF is 16% but i still run my mile and a half in less than 11 min do 100 push ups and sit ups in 2 min, so i guess i can be on the fattest fuck in america right?

its insane that people go by the fucking BMI is bullshit, i powerlift but i seen some big mother fuckers in the military get in some shit because they weighed to much its sad that america is centered around the BMI. it makes all PLers and body builders look like fat asses because they weigh alot

Fat people are usually the epitome of everything I find disgusting. It isn’t just how they look it is every aspect of their lives.

Is there any money incentive for this?

The winner of the biggest loser gets 200,000 $$$ plus whoever wins the challenges sometimes get some pretty nice prizes (5,000 dollars worth of groceries, an rv, etc)

Also the winner from who was kicked off the show gets 100,000

The winner actually gets $250,000.

And this is why some of these comments amuse me. ALL reality shows have a bullshit aspect to them. Most reality shows are lame. I think the Biggest Loser is the least lame of the reality show bunch because it actually does something constructive. No, it’s not realistic for most people to lose weight that quickly, it’s probably not the most conducive to long-term fat loss, but several of the contestants do maintain their losses.

Are people so afraid of losing muscle mass that they would pass up a chance for $250,000? I could do a lot with that money. And lost strength and muscle can be regained quickly (I know, I’ve done it) and with and extra $250,000, I could afford some protein and supplements to speed the process. Technically I’m not a powerlifter or else I would do this.

I keep trying to agree with this… I do and I don’t.
I tend to have this affect on people.

I think it’s extremely stupid and shallow for the people on this board to call the show the “Biggest Fatties” blah blah blah. Who the fuck are they? At least those people ARE on the show trying to change themselves. Whether it’s for money, publicity, who gives a flying fuck? They’re doing something about it.
A smart post. If anyone on here has lead a completely pure and good life free from any demons or bad habits, please feel free to make fun of the fat people on the show. Otherwise, shut the fuck up. People in glass houses, you know.

Not if they were smart. I don’t know all of the rules of the show, but it seems that the gym is open all the time and anyone can go it at any time and do whatever they want. A smart PLer would go in either early in the morning or at night and work on maintaining strength. And maintaining strength is really the key. Yes this would require extra workouts, and our PLer contestant would be bordering on overtraining, but the only thing they do there is workout, eat, sleep, and the obligatory weekly competition. If our PLer was smart, he’d take strategic naps during the day to maximize recovery. Assuming that the PLer has half a brain, there’s a lot that he could do to minimize strength loss.

I’d watch the train wreck. I’d just love to see the powerlifter look at the trainers like the morons that they are…and then do it his way.

No self respecting powerlifter would do it though–they’d be too scared of the stupid training losing them pounds on their total because they can’t train heavy. It would be too threatening. After all, you don’t powerlift for the money (there is none) or the fame (there’s none of that either, unless you’re already an ironhead you likely won’t know any powerlifters). You lift because of the weight. And the passion and effort and blood.

I once watched a whole season of “the most dumbest model” with my girlfriend; I just wanted to put that out there…

i’m assumming that there was at least some “nuckle shuffle” during the commercials.

well, yeah…

I’m still trying to figure out how people can just quit work and go on a show for months. Hell, I’d give it a shot if they would pay my bills while I’m there.

I don’t quite fit the “non-threatening” part though.

And I would not work with Bob. I could deal with Jillian, but Bob would come up missing. I can’t stand his gayness.

I’ld be down for it…go on the show, and teach the trainers…and I think my BMI is around 60 or so if you use the old standardized numbers, you know the ones that state that a man of 5’8"-6’0" should be around 135 lbs.
