THE BEST Swiss Ball workout EVER!!!

Fitone, I’m going to tell you something that you shouldn’t take as a flame, but you might be offended by it.

People who can’t spell or write remotely properly are rarely taken seriously by those who read those writings. I have no doubt your brother is probably a smart guy, but he’s going to have a tough time when somebody comes across his notes on a patient, and they’re unintelligible. For somebody to have a person’s life in their hands every single day of their life, you’d hope that they would be able to learn something as simple as spelling and grammar. It’s not that difficult, and I guarantee you that the practice of medicine is far more difficult.

Seriously, if a person can’t spell a simple word, how am I going to trust that they can learn a list of fifty antibiotics and all that they cover and all of the side effects? That’s not to mention the other several hundred drugs you need to know. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

I wish your brother all the best in med school, but he (and others) really need to bone up on on spelling and writing skills to be taken more seriously in this world.

What bothers me the most about this whole thread is the fact that not once does it say that we should make sure that we are wearing a weight belt while perfoming this exercise and if it is okay to use the Smith machine as a launching pad.

Just my two cents.

DocT I agree w/ u 100% but how many doctor’s out there can we truelly read there penmanship maybe 1 out of 10.

Handwriting is a whole separate issue that has nothing to do with knowledge or intelligence. My writing is for me to understand, not the patient. If I’m writing up a referral or a note for another doctor to read, I make sure they can read it or I just dictate it.

Two completely separate concepts.

Yeah, but DocT, one question, how is you handwriting while on the swiss balll?

How about a presciption script? Half the time I can’t read my doc’s handwritting. Jeez, personally I think is just lazyness on the Doc’s part. And is the same w/ people spelling incorrectly. Lets face it we live in a lazy society w/ computer and information age. Not flamming just making an obeservation and conversation.

The question over spelling has NOTHING to do with intelligence, that’s not my point. But how easy is it not to go to www.dictionary.com or cut and paste your writing into Microsoft Word. The question comes when one asks how seriously does one regard what he has written. In this day and age, especially in business, I believe that spelling is important. I also believe that this same reverence to spelling should be applied when writing to the general public, ie a forum such as t-mag. If one is to take your question seriously you should do your part in getting it across as best as possible and show that you value your writing.

Not very much! Are you kidding, this is a forum. I really could care less about what most of you think anyway. “Going to Microsoft Word” that was funny! Should I also make a rough draft and have a friend proof read it for content and grammatical errors?
Chances are while your proof reading your insignificant post I’m out on the grind becoming a better athlete. Get a life dude.

Script is short for prescription. The two together are redundant.

And, again, you have no need to read that as it’s for the pharmacist. It’s transcribed onto the medicine bottle/dispenser for you, so that you can read it. Besides, unless you know what’s on a script, you won’t know what it says anyway besides the name of the drug. Ok, this is getting quite off-topic. Handwriting has nothing to do with spelling/grammar.

Fitone, I agree with you that we’re in a lazy society. That begs the question, why don’t you spellcheck your posts before you hit submit?

Invisible, your entire existence here has dimished because of your attitude.

You play football. Congrats. You’re built like a machine. Congrats. You still use the word “your” for “you’re.”
Not so good. As stated in another post, you will not be taken seriously if you can’t do the simple things correctly.

You did say you were pre-med, right?
Good luck, you animal.

invisible, for some of us it is neither a tremendous struggle nor a time-consuming process to at least take a stab at correct spelling and grammar. If English is not your first language, then I fully understand, as we all should, but if it is, then your writing is expressing more about you than the thoughts you’re trying to get across.

fitone, you’re arguing with a doctor over the necessity of proper spelling and grammar in the medical field. Just think about that for a minute. Also, the inclusion of a student in medical school, or most forms of higher education, does not necessarily mean that they know a damn thing about expressing themselves clearly to others. I was a computer science major. While many of my classmates and teachers knew what they were talking about, they could not easily to convey that to others through speech or writing (in English).

ANIDIOT ~ (Noun)

Derived from old English this loosely means “Personalized, Engraved Bed Pan” Can be used in many situations such as "Hey Ralph, this Superbowl sure is exciting, too bad I have to get up to go pee, I wish I had brought my “ANIDIOT” but it is in the shop, where is YOUR “ANIDOT”.

A signature element to the design of the Anidiot is the curled inner lip the prevent splashing and spill over. Today the name Anidiot and the phrase, “Hit me with your best shot” is synonymous with Good Housekeeping and Class.

“Make it idiot-proof, and someone will breed a better idiot”

[How ironic]

“Are you kidding, this is a forum. I really could care less about what most of you think anyway.”

If you don’t really care then why did you feel the need to post your resume as well as nonchalantly slip into a later post that you’re a Pre-Med student? Usually, the people that think they have something to prove are the ones constantly trying to justify themselves with their words, not their actions.

Also, about the grammar and handwriting debate…I’d feel a lot more comfortable with my doctor if he wrote me a prescription that I could barely read than a prescription that reads “Geev thes heer man some Cleerenex, 200 mg a day too be exacct” with perfect penmanship. One thing that I personally have discovered over the years of school is that the faster you have to copy down notes in a classroom, the sloppier your handwriting gets and stays. I’m assuming that some of the Pre-Med professors like to talk fast and don’t like to let students use tape recorders, therefore, you’re gonna get some people with pretty sloppy handwriting. If anything, based on those observations, I’d rather have a doctor with sloppy-ass handwriting than one with good handwriting because it’ll probably mean that he worked his ass off a lot harder in class than the one with good handwriting. It reminds me of a quote “You never trust somebody thats been working in a kitchen that isn’t dirty because it means that they didn’t actually do anything.”

“Chances are while your proof reading your insignificant post I’m out on the grind becoming a better athlete.”

“I’m the type of cat you wouldn’t wanna see on the feild.”

Is it just me, or does invisible seem like the type of guy thats a bit too ambiguously homo-erotic? Y’know the type of guy that takes the ass-spanking after a touchdown a bit too far, then when confronted about it says “it was the heat of the moment, I was just trying to get my guys psyched up…”

OK fellas, this post was a joke. Do you think we may have strayed a bit here?

DocT, high five for that comment! LOLage to the max

chrismcl my feelings exactly =)

Jared:
fitone, you’re arguing with a doctor over the necessity of proper spelling and grammar in the medical field.

No. I never was aruging about proper spelling and grammer. I was just stating for a mere fact that 90% of the Doctor’s out there have the worst penmanship. Can you read your doctor’s handwritting. Yes true its for pharmacist to read and not for a patients purpose.

But wouldn’t be helpful for the patient to know what he or she is buying before they pay for it at the counter? Just a thought.

Good grief guys,
What this thread has become, has been beaten to death a long freaking time ago.
Granted some people need to learn how to read humour into a post( how this thread started to go off topic), instead of taking everything serious for the words typed.
It would also be nice if some of the more “educated” people would help keep a thread on topic instead of letting it degenerate into meathead disputes over minute pet peeves.
People are going to place priorities on different things. That’s what makes us unique. But it’s a sad individual who states that, “Wow, these comments are grammatically correct, so there must be something worthwhile to consider.” Yet, if something doesn’t look pretty enough on paper, it’s not worth taking serious. If you work through it, it may have insight you did not realize it could.
To flame someone for their inability to be utilize a computer perfectly is crazy. Not everybody’s job consists of working with computers. I have absolutely no idea how to indent, bolden, italicize, add links on this forum and have no idea how to cut and paste. I work full time straight nights, my wife works days, add in working out and wanting my girls to know me, learning how to do what I listed to please all of you, gets put on the back burner. Sorry to hurt your feelings. You’re not God, you’re sure not the centre of my universe, this probably goes for others as well, so please get over yourselves.
I try my best to make sure my posts meet my satisfaction not yours. Sometimes, while trying to quickly reply, one of my three girls inadvertantly pushes a button, or I’m trying to type or proof read while listening to my wife, I miss something. Or I go to hit the edit button, but either my eyes are glazed over or I get bumped, or just plain accidently hit the post button but meant to hit the edit button.
To flame a foreigner for their lack of ability with the english language (spare me the, “this is america” spattle, I’ve heard before) is pathetic. If some Americans would put forward as much effort as some immigrants, America could be a completely astounding place to live. Besides which if you think about it, some people you are flaming on this very forum, don’t even live in America. It’s the internet. Unredden your neck and live in the now. Expand your mind, Don’t limit it.
For those of you who just can’t seem to let go of the idea of brow beating somebody for their ineptitude at grammar, please check out Christian T’s reply to the guy asking for advice on working out while doing shift work. There is a spelling mistake! Leave the dumbass nitpicking to professional final copies and not the forum. If you can’t do this, go brow beat a very fine contributor, who low and behold is also human, but I guess he has nothing to say that can be taken seriously since there is a type-o, so really why bother.

Peace,
T-Ren
