The real answer? The one you can do consistently. For many this is leg press. But I would have to say lunges. Back squats if you can get to parallel or lower are great but nothing gets my legs feeling pumped faster than lunges. Geeez I hate lunges. But they’re very good.

What do you think is the absolute best excercises for:
Legs
Back
Chest
Shoulders
Olympic Back Squats
If Squats are done in this style, this is the closest you can get to working all the muscles in your legs without having any imbalances.
Chin-Ups
Use a Neutral Grip. That’s what I would use because thats where I’m the strongest and that’s also where you won’t have to compromise between developing the midback or the lats - you get both pretty well.
Dips
Heavy Dips may not make your bench go up, but they will put slabs of muscle on your upper body. Heavy Dips will also allow you to handle the most weight.
Clean and Jerk
This is the choice I’m most comfortable with. When people think shoulders, they usually think about big medial delts. The best exercises for these is probably wide-grip high-pulls. But we want the entire shoulder area to be huge. The clean portion will hit the rear delt somewhat and will really hit the middle portion of the delt and all will really get the upper traps. The Jerk Portion will again hit the medial delt, will get the front delt good, and will give the triceps a good workout as well. The Clean and Jerk will also allow for a large load to be used. I think the snatch is the Olympic Lift that is more demanding of jumping ability that shoulder strength.
NOW FOR FUN lets look at the exercises people choose most of the time in the gym
Leg Press
Lat-Pulldown with a super-wide grip or Curls (It’s a back exercise for many and it’s usually done before Lat-Pulldowns with the same weight)
Bench Press
Lateral Raises (because apparently no one told the frat-boys and basketball players that making the bar wip up and down with 400 pounds for 20 reps is a million times more fun than lateral raises and will make you look like a man)
I didn’t put Deadlifts in my list because deadlifts are the best everythingbuttricepsandpecs exercise.
Alright Sentoguy you know you can’t get away with saying flite pulldowns without an explanation. I’m always hungry for good lat exercises so GIMME!!haha, please?

Haha, I was wondering who would ask about those first.
Sadly though it’s not some secretive exercise. It’s just pulldowns done on a lat pulldown machine made by “Flite”. It’s similar to a Hammer Strentgh pull down, but it’s not unilateral.
I really like this pulldown variation because at the fully stretched position the hands are almost together, but in the fully contracted position the handles are down outside the shoulders, giving it superior ROM compared to other pulldown variations, or even pull-up variations ,unless perhaps you have a set of rings (which I also really like, along with muscle-ups, but I don’t really have a place to hang my rings at the gym, so that exercise isn’t feasible at the moment). You also can’t really cheat on these like you see a lot of guys do on regular pulldowns, so it forces the lats to do the majority of the work.

Good training,

Can you give us a picture of that machine?
This is the only one I can find at the moment. I’ll try to find a bigger one when I have time to really look.
