I just skim for my name.lol. And you’re better hope she’s not gay bc when a girl walks up to me in the locker rooms and starts telling me I look great I assume she’s hitting on me. haha
She did have some strong thighs…
good lord! haha

Just got back from the gym and I’m pretty miffed. I got the camera, but the stupid thing is possessed and intermittently decided to shut off every time I tried to capture my squat. So, I wasn’t able to get anything worthwhile for youse guys to critique. And all the fumbling around fucked up my flow.

Squat 10x95, 2x8x115, 2x6x125
Chinups 7, 4, 5 - I think getting 7 in a row is good for me, 4, not so much
WGLP 5x3x90, 5x2x100 - still issues with getting bar to chest on 100, but I added a 3rd rep on 90, hope that helps
pushups 10 dynamic, 2x10 feet elevated
Tri dips with feet elevated (n ad hoc addition cuz I was pissed re: squat) 12xBW, 1x10x12, 1x8x12 - added a 12 lbs DB

I’ll try again with the vid, but FWIW I’ll post what I got.

I can say this much, probs not getting low enough. Anything? ps. check out the dude next to me - ass picker!

hmm…

you have a bangin bod. that is all.

Ha! shakes head Oh, Bobbi. Thanks!

what she said.

wow!

Great color combination.

Nice arms (I’m a big fan of defined arms on a chick).

I would say, yep…not quite low enough. And a fair amount of forward lean…don’t know if that is a bad thing.

What shoes are you wearing?

Thanks ladies and pups, flattery will get you everywhere with me (as will tequila), so much appreciated blushes

kimba, awesome, thanks. I agree, this is something I def need to work on, which will surely be a blow to my ego since I’ll have to drop weight. As for the forward lean, I don’t know either, but thanks for pointing it out. I’ll look around the interwebz and see if I can find some info on this.

Shoes are puma. I think these:

I thought they’d be good for lifting since they’re flat soled. They’re super comfy though, that’s for sure. Highly recommend.

What helped me on the lean forward was, 1 being barefoot & 2 having my heels elevated either on wts or a 2x4.

interesting, so just to be clear, you simultaneously were barefoot and had your heels elevated?

Either or. Never tried barefoot and elevated.

Alright I gotta jump back in because I don’t see anything wrong with your squat other than you’re putting a lot of stress on your wrists. I don’t see this forward lean or anything wrong with your depth unless you’re trying to hit PL qual depth on each one which, if you are, 1) you’re not in PL squat form so that’s kind of moot and I don’t think you compete and 2) the camera is too high to tell. I’d give that squat a thumbs up and move on.

PS. my girl lifts in the same Puma’s and has never had a problem - they’re pretty flat.

Yaaay! Right on. I know, I have a weird way of handling the bar (pun unintended) and I always try to correct it.

So, in your humblest opinion, keeping in mind that I’m still playing soccer, do you think it would be advantageous for me to learn PL form? Does it matter?

I eventually do want to get the squat up to 1.5bw.

No. Powerlifting is a completely separate sport. It’s actually disadvantageous to other athletes because PL is all about lifting the max weight possible within the rules, so they shorten the ROM as much as possible - you don’t want this - you want to be strong in YOUR ROM for YOUR sport. For example, my soccer players do a whole lot of front squatting, which is pretty much the polar opposite of a PL squat.

This isn’t really that tough and you could probably do it in a year or less. It all depends on what type of squat you do. Stick with what you’re doing and keep chipping away - you’ll get there.

Bobbi always makes lots of sense.

Yes, yes she does. And you don’t know how grateful I am for everyone’s input! So maybe for me, instead of PL squatting I should just work on “The perfect squat” and working up numbers from there.

And can I just say Bobbi, I feel blessed to have elicited a response longer than a sentence. You can go back to one-liners and calling me a pussy now.

So last night I took a sports conditioning class which was much needed. Haven’t done suicides in a while.

I also did my 10x1 pullups. Big PR for me - on 3 sets I did 2 pullups in a row. Minor victory.

Feel a little bit guilty tho because I had late night munchies and finished off an entire package of tea biscuits with my tea. Oops.

Tonight I’m going to do some mobility and then i’ll hit a spin class. I know cardio is frowned upon, but I honestly don’t know how to live without it.
