That 4 a.m session ends my first 9 week Cube program. Plan to re run it. Pry with some mods…but nothin crazy. Speak in of which…needs to be decided this weekend as well!

That surprises me you went to squatting barefoot.

That’s how I’d always done it, but with everyone talking about how great Oly lifting shoes were, I’d tried that. But barefoot just always felt better.

Although, benching felt good with olympic shoes.

Lorez- I just tried it this last 3 week block and liked it.I feel more connected to whats going on and my groove autoregulates better w. A more balanced drive. I wear a reg more flat shoe for squatting/deadlifting typically. I have tried a higher heel…

Keep in mind a higher heel is often used for people without the proper mobility to do so s.o them. I found they pitch me forward more than anything. So I assume my mobility to squat is fine and combined w. Being a highbar medium stance- doesnt need the assistance and acts as overcompensation for me.

Thanks Keith - even I was abit shocked at how I moved 315 that day. W.o any safeties I train submaximally nearly all the time.

This is pretty good. Kinda explains how barefoot to me feels. Driving thru center of foot more naturally. Vs. W shoes. At times feels off the heel and akward/ bad reps.


Ok. Another 9 week run on the cube prepped.

Some mods-

  1. Shrugs going from deadlift day to squat day. This to work the traps harder, more often vs. Mostly in one day. Its switching w. Barbell rows . Which is also common on dead day. Done

  2. Using the same weights sets and reps…but switching up the variation on bench day.

  • he overloads the closegrip , after your reg bench sets. This closegrip will be replaced by reg. Paused benches.
  • after the closegrip overload he has spoto presses. Spoto presses will be replaced by paused closegrip bench. I believe these mods are tailored to ME and suit my progression best
  1. Again using same weights sets n reps but switching up variation on deads as well. I should say un switching as this time Im. Trying the 3 waves as prescribed. Floor/blocks/deficit. I originally i ran deficit/floor/bigger deficit. Came up with some more pads and plan to use those as blocks.

  2. No mods to squat. Everything seems on point. Onward till I stall.

  3. Ill start the first 3 week block w. Some 3x10 then progress Into 4x6. Seems effective in going from hypertrophy into hypertrophy w. Some strength. …

Got my pads made up and using them on top of one plate measure just a tick over 4 inches off the ground. Perfect. First run tommorow. Of course Lily starts you right out w. Heavy deads.

Great first day. Rows fit great here… I wonder abut some type of activation from heavy deads? Or just a new day was enough.

Quite sore today. Surprisingly. I had night doms that was worse. Today my hams, upper back and rear delts are fried. Unusual for a heavy belted session. Usually im the least sore…hmmmm…
