The 7 Billionth Person Born Today

We have the capability of feeding billions more people with the help of Soylent Green.

Some very interesting work is going into developing vertical farming, so the actual footprint for an island-sized land area could be much less than island-sized. Combined with other farming technologies (maybe soil-less farming?) and better engineered plant strains I think we can continue to match food production with population growth.

If most of the current population growth occurs in Sub-Saharan Africa, the challenges are different! Africa is absolutely massive and has more than enough land area, but how can you produce more food when a lot of that area has a pretty hostile climate?

Producing enough animal protein might be a challenge… but maybe insect protein is a more sustainable alternative. This doesn’t mean eating bugs, necessarily. Maybe a tasty bug paste that you spread on your toast like peanut butter haha.

For animal flesh, why not breed rats or rabbits for farming? Certainly more sustainable than cow flesh. But now I’m just thinking out loud.

After about a decade of warfare, world will be a better place. But in advance, Every factory there should be guarded by forces united by all EU countries, US and Canada, so they remain intact and their working capability remain to a maximum.

P.S. I am a dickhead who is against Nazi, and see what I am proposing.

P.S. 3 Since Greece harbored the incubation of Western democracy it seems appropriate that Greece take the lead in regards to solving the world population “problem” preferably in the manner you described. In fact, as tough as the times are in your country a “fucking necessary” war there would be the perfect little laboratory experiment.

Lead on, Greece.
I am honored by the proposal, but wouldn’t USA be the perfect candidate for starting that war? With the experience USA have in starting wars in developing countries for “the sake of democracy and homeland security”, which is a great excuse by the way, the propaganda that USA is able able to do and the weapon resources USA has, they are the perfect candidate. I feel honored, but I will pass it to the best.
The problem with your premise is the US has started no wars in developing countries for “the sake of democracy and homeland security.” None. Zilch.

Strike Two.
War in Afghanistan wasn’t for homeland security?
A quick study of the facts would reveal the US did not star that war. Rather, an act of war was committed against the US; consequently the US retaliated.
Enlight me, but I believe there is no evidence that the 7/11 was actually a terrorist attack rather an inside job.

Yeah 7/11 was and is totally American.

Damn those Texans.

Greece has the greatest soldiers to civilians ratio in Europe, also the second best Air Force in Europe (behind UK), and the best Military Navy. So I think we are more than capable of defending ourselves. Don’t forget, Artemis 30 anti-aircraft system is Greek.
Joking aside, you’re going to have a war with Turkey over Israeli oil (of all things), if we aren’t all careful.

The Turks have really gone nuts in an attempt to pacify the rising Islamist nuts.

Vertical faming is a novel idea, never thought of that.

The idea of better engineered plant strains is something that I think is inevitable but doesn’t sit well with me at all. Argi Business is huge’ with companies like Monsanto patenting there seed strains with the sole purpose of making money and this doesn’t bode to well for poor fuckers that actually need food. Not only that but these new strains of plants produce no viable seeds (infertile) so the grower must continually purchase new seed. This sets up a whole new problem…

1st world countries are currently buying / leasing huge tracts of land in Africa to grow food for export into their own countries. This has been dubbed agricultural colonialism and throws up a mass of conflicting arguments for and against. But when you have big money involved you can be guaranteed someone is going to get fucked over!

The thing is foods like rat are common outside of the 1st world, it’s just that we have an aversion to eating certain animals’ but it is all protein at the end of the day…

Monsanto can burn in hell. A good life goal would be to utterly destroy that company and set up legislation (or cartel; I’m not above violence in this case) that would make any similar business model nonviable. I feel the same way about food futures markets. But this a whole new topic.

I did not know about wholesale land purchase in Africa. Not sure how I feel about that.

It is all protein at the end of the day! With modern food science some of these more sustainable sources could be made palatable for Westerners. Marketing might be more of a challenge but hey, if cigarettes and Shake Weights sell, rat-burgers can sell. Nicotine infused rat-burgers? It’s accelerating social acceptance through addiction.

Lace a rat patty with some creatine and now we’re talking. Or, condense to pill form and some names come to mind

Ratabolic 3000
Gaspari nutrition myovermin
Universal rat paks (like Animal paks, only more specific)
Rat rx 100 bars. Now tail free

In Africa, the rainy season triggers the biggest swarms of midges on Earth to rise from Lake Victoria / Malawi. Massive black clouds rise out of the lake and are blown inland. The locals make best use of these swarms by catching them in nets and turning them into nutritious fly-burgers - get this - each one contains HALF A MILLION FLIES and is packed with 7 TIMES MORE PROTEIN than a beef burger.

I couldnt find the video (BBC doc) but it makes interesting viewing to say the least
