What is isomaltulose?
Isomaltulose (brand name Palatinose) is a low glycemic (and low insulemic) carbohydrate. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that it’s molecular structure consists of a bonded glucose & fructose molecule
Am I able to put the powder in a cup, pour in the liquid flavoring, and let it sit during the day before I add water? I like to prepare the stuff at home, take it to work, and then hit the gym on the way back home.
Also, any opinions on continuing to use this product in the “old” protocol?
-60: Alpha-GPC
-45: 2 FINiBARs
-30: 2 scoops SWF
-15 through workout: 2 scoops SR
I wouldn’t add the flavoring before the water, just bring a bottle of flavoring with you and keep it at work, they are small enough to keep in a drawer or locker.

Cheaper cost per serving is always better in my opinion. I use this stuff on a regular basis so if I am always going to be buying it, I would rather have it be as cheap as possible. It wasn’t too long ago we were paying 1.50 per scoop of the old stuff, now we are looking at .88 for the new. Being able to mix it with MAG-10 is also a big plus.
I am a fan of the “old protocol”, but I always saved some Surge Recovery for during the workout to fight off any crash. I started using MAG-10 during the workout as well and wanted to add some carbs to it without making it taste like crap.
Long story short, it didn’t work so I would drink MAG-10 and then gulp down a few sips of Surge Recovery about half-way through the workout. Now I will be able to decide how many carbs I want to add to my MAG-10. Cheaper price and more flexible usage is a win to me.
hey Brian, with the old SWF 1 scoop would get me through a workout…since the new stuff has less beta-alanine and citruline malate per scoop, would one scoop still do the trick? is that enough beta/citruline malate for an intense workout. this is assuming I take 1 scoop and not the suggested 2 scoops. thanx in advance

The new Surge Workout Fuel works better than an equal amount of the original formula, so I’m confident that you won’t feel any decrease in performance with 1 scoop.
By the way, it’s a mistake to assume that there’s less Citrulline malate or Beta alanine in the new formula.

I’d rather mix the powder and flavoring in water at home to have it ready for training later in the day, but I don’t see an issue with adding the flavoring as you’ve mentioned. I don’t know of anyone who’s tried it this way, however.

Assuming your goal is increased muscle and/or strength, I’d personally rather mix MAG-10 in Surge Workout Fuel during training if your budget doesn’t allow for Anaconda.

So, to generalize, the ANACONDA Protocol is still a superior method of peri-workout nutrition for most? But this formular is a good alternative?
My experience is that Anaconda does something unique in terms of speeding recovery and growth that I haven’t been able to duplicate with any other combination of products. Most other guys I know that train hard have reported the same thing, as have members of this site.
This isn’t what Surge Workout Fuel was designed to do. It’s primary purpose is to increase work capacity, and it’s the single best product I’ve used for this.

That’s an interesting point Brian. Could I mix a scoop of unflavoured MAG-10 with a scoop of old formula flavoured Surge Workout Fuel to sip on during the workout or would the unflavoured MAG-10 make the mixture too bitter?

I’ve done this and didn’t find it too bad, but you can always add some of the liquid flavoring if needed.
What is the old protocol. I have swf and sr. What is the best way to use the two? I’ve always thought half a serving of swf before the workout and it’s sipped throuout, then SR. Is this not the best way?

The new stuff tastes good. The liquid flavoring is very strong! I used two scoops with 20oz of water and a half cap full of flavoring, it was too strong. Next I tried a 1/4 cap and it was better, I might start to use even less than that. I had my reservations being such a big fan of the original fruit punch and lemonade, but the new flavors are just as good.
I have tried the grape and the orange so far and they are both fantastic. I wasn’t crazy about the berry when mixed with Anaconda and MAG-10, but I am going to try it with SWF. I think the berry might be a little tart and just didn’t taste great with anaconda/MAG-10 to me. The flavors do taste a little different with SWF though, so I am going to try berry with it, probably tomorrow night.
I haven’t tried mixing MAG-10 and SWF yet, but I definitely will be soon. I don’t see it being a problem with the taste though.
All in all, I am loving the new stuff. Two thumbs up.
So, I just started experimenting with FINiBARs before I lift. Now I am wondering if adding back in SWOF is a good idea. The next 2 months will be used to lean down some more.
At this point, its:
FINiBAR (2)
Alpha-GPC
Lift
Surge Recovery
Whole food meal (carb+pro)

I definitely recommend drinking Surge Workout Fuel immediately before and during training if you’re pushing it hard enough to warrant it.
If I’m using the Surge Workout Fuel and Surge Recovery, and I have a can of Anaconda…how would I incorporate the Anaconda into my peri-workout nutrition. Whats the protcol for the 3???

Thanks guys.
What I do now is:
Alpha-GPC
Surge Workout Fuel
Surge Recovery
ANACONDA/MAG-10 during workout
It’s basically the “old protocol” with anaconda and MAG-10 added in for the CH and recovery boost.
This works the best for me. I know most people prefer the full ANACONDA Protocol, but I have settled on this one. For whatever reason I seem to be at my best when I use this approach. I will adjust the amounts of each depending on the workout and how i feel that day. Some days I really need the calories so I keep everything high (at least two scoops of each, sometimes three), some days I know the workout will be short or abbreviated due to time constraints so I go light, maybe 1 scoop of each. They are all great products as far as I am concerned, you really can’t go wrong with them. Experiment and see what feels the best.
So if im going Surge Workout Fuel 2 scoops 30 min prior to wrkout then one scoop Surge Recovery 10-15 prior to wrkout 1 scoop sipped during, where does the ANACONDA come in?
