What about the military press with a reverse grip…how much you can lift compared to your regular overhead press
I’ve never tried that … I doubt I ever will

1x205 tonight. +10lb PR from last month!
you’re almost there man
It actually went up substantially smoother than last month’s 195. I had a guy watching me and said he couldn’t even see any sticking points.

I guess you could’ve done at least 5 more lbs … maybe 10

Maybe. That’s what next month’s for =). I like to end workouts on a high note.

same here
Thread, ARISE!
My most recent PR is 160. I’m hoping to have 185 by August 1.
And here’s some motivation for you all:
To the chest or it doesn’t count
In late, but in nonetheless. Most recent max: 185x1 at 175 bodyweight, strict from chest. Potentially trying 195 tonight, weighing 180ish right now.
is it too late? I’ll max OHP on Wednesday and let ya’ll know where I’m at then. I’m currently having to start on the ground due to lack of a rack.

The thread will live so long as people continue to post

Hell yeah!
I got 165 today
I’ll jump in with a 154lb / 70kg strict press from the clavicles. Watch for an update around 5 years from now ![]()
I realize I just posted 185 this morning, but… hit 195 tonight, very strict from touching chest. Hit it on my 3rd attempt. Just needed to get a little angry ![]()
I’m not gonna check this thread every day, but I’ll join and hope to hit it by end of year.
Here’s my last session 170x5:
Great work guys.
Just wanted to get in on the % of bench because I am a major outlier…
When I benched 359 I probably could only press 165 so like 46%.
Definetely stronger on both now but not sure of maxes. I think adding more OHP has helped my bench lately.
right now, I use about the same weight on DB bench as I do on barbell overhead press. No idea if that’s normal, or if it’s high compared to bench or low compared to bench.
~55% discrepancy
I’m in after a bankart lesion and subsequent dislocation i’m starting from the ground back up. Gonna start pushing it and see how the shoulder holds up. Did 135 for 3 so i’ll build from here.
I’m not sure what my bench 1RM is, but the ratio is 70-80%
Of course I’ve only recently gotten serious about benching, but I’ve always loved OHP. That probably has a lot to do with it.
I got 180 today, cleaning it from the floor then pressing from the chest. Not great, not bad. Hope it doesn’t impede tomorrow’s workout too much. 45 lbs to go, once I have a squat rack and don’t waste energy cleaning it…I should be able to get this pretty quick I think.
