That's Just Harry

Stick, metal replacement didn’t set me back at all. I’ve got 2 ribs on the left side that are more or less screwed on a couple of small plates. After 33 years needed to have them upgraded.

John, trying real hard to forego any highland games this year. Haven’t trained and I don’t like to compete when I’m not prepared. Got a lot of request from all over to come play but this year looks like T&F, swimming and maybe some local lifting events. Still want to do a strong man if they’d come up with a Methuselah category. My old traveling companion Tree is trying to get me to do one with him in the over 35 class.

Thanks bulldog, That’s a good lookin back you’ve got goin there. Hope I can keep up the posting for a while this time

Planned on throwing today but the weather came in hard and put the kibosh on that so went and did legs and back.

No wonder you’re so strong you’re a cyborg. Part man part metal. Good to see you Harry.

Yeah, it doesn’t look like there was a setback. Strong lifting. It’s inspiring to “watch”.

came in here to be inspired.

glad to see you back

Damn Harry I love reading your log… Man your age still killing it! Nothing but respect!

Thanks everyone, damn good to be back here and hear from yawl.
(Pssst Kevin, are you undercover? Guess I should haven’t called you Kevin then)
Getting to be more metal than meat, Steve. Beginning of the year got a big “growth”, for lack of better word, on my chest. When they cut it open they found an itsy bitsy piece of scrapnel that got left in there for probably 20 years. Few more stitches and I was good to go.
Thanks bulldog. I’ve started to notice my numbers going down but I’ll just keep pushin til I’m benchin the bar for a max.

Morning
Got to the beach right as the sun came up and a light rain hit. About 71f out. Beautiful.

Glad your back posting Harry. I didn’t comment in your log often but I always enjoyed reading it.

Harry, what are you using for full form in the shot these days? Also, I remember messing around with a 1k discus some time ago, and the same thing happened to me, it went higher than it did far. With me the problem was being used to countering the heavier discus, so I was leaning back quite a bit throught the pull and release.

Carl, it’s kind of a cross between a glide and a scoot. Found it’s the fastest way I can get across the circle and still end up cocked at the end. Gonna try your discus release. Kinda sounds like the releases of the women I’ve been looking at. I mean, for their form, I mean for their…never mind.
Thanks DBlaser, checked out your log and some good numbers you’re putting up.

Tomorrow is the 4th of July and we do it big in my family. In between the eating and drinking, let’s not forget we still have troops in harms way and send up some good vibs for them.

Today

Early, early morning. Walked 2 miles. Yep, walked. Since retiring and not having to walk everyday I figure I better replace all the mileage with something and treadmill just wasn’t doing it. Trying to get in at least 3 miles a day so I’ll walk another mile after supper tonight.

so need to get some more throwing in.

Solid training as usual. What events are you planning to do at the meet?

This is a dream meet held once a year by an organization called the Steelthrowers. Just throws and everything throwable will be thrown. I’m just entering the shot and disc, unless…
They may be having the ultraheavy comp in which you have to throw the hammer, 35,56,95,???, ends up at the 300#. I’ll enter this if they have it.

training looking good

Spend the last 3 days in Tunica, Ms at the casinos rolling them bones, hitting buffets, lolling lackadaisically in the “grotto”, and making an unsanctioned club crawl of Beale Street which started with 4 of us furloughed husbands and ended with several nice young policemen informing us on what constituted “unlawful assembly”. (Ex-GI’s so we gave the secret handshake and all was good.) Only lifts were 16 oz curls and shots of Jemesons. Only swimming was from one side of the grotto to the bar on the other side.

Full of remorse and shame, well, not really, hit the river for a good slow morning swim this morning. Did 1500m at a very leisurely pace. Sweated out the rest of the alcohol mowing, trimming and prettying up the yard. Starting tomorrow doing meet prep for next weeks meet.

well done as always, Harry…

Harry,

Good to meet you. Read your previous posts for quite awhile; I didn’t feel like an over 60 guy then. Still don’t, but I post anyway. My lifting is now motivated by a) my “what if…” feelings when I read 40+ guys’ lifts on here, and b) good workouts still feel great. Nevertheless my wife wants me to do yoga whenever she sees me exiting her really low to the ground car.

So, how’s the lifting?

Your amount of work is very impressive.
