My shoulder was already mostly metal. This time replaced the whole thing cause the old stuff was wearing out.

Been doing my exercises with the little yellow band things. Another week and I can go to the next color!
Did my work outs, walking, and swimming.
Had to put to sleep my oldest dog yesterday. She’d been with me 15 years, a good run for a Lab. Held her til she passed. Came home, went out to her favorite spot out back on the river, jumped in and swam a couple hundred meters. Way too cold for it but what the hell. Picked up her ashes today. Put her in my study, wife lit josh sticks for her. Her spirits now in the house where she spend her entire life and she’s happy.
Funny, after Somalia, Angola, Rwanda, Haiti, Kosovo, Serbia, etc, etc. I’d be inured to death. Sorry, no lifting stuff.
So sorry for your loss.
Only cure is to get another one quick.

I’ve still got 3 more labs, 2 are her offspring. Because of our increasing time living in the Philippines we’ve decide not to get any more dogs here.

Did a work out today. Sat down and ask myself, “Self, what you want to do from here on?” I love to throw and I love to lift. Headed to the Philippines 19 April this year. Mainly do swimming there (and drinking, eating Bar-b-que, sunning) and some lifting. Pretty much made up my mind when I get back in June to concentrate on the lifts I can do and getting ready to throw next year. Don’t know if I can get there but I have in mind to Bench 375, Dl 550, and squat (if I can get my hand behind the bar) 550, at 63 years old and a bw of between 225-235. That’d give me a 1475 total and I think I may enter a few Pl meets if I can do that. Know I can get the DL, bench and squat are iffy. As for throwing, just saw the result for the world’s at Daegu and the winning throws in the shot, discus, hammer wouldn’t have placed in the top 3 at our Southeastern USA meet. Need to get back to throwing. Enough rambling, will post work outs after this.
Sorry about your dog. Labs are great. We had one for 16 years, and had to put him down as well. I know how hard it can be.

Weight was 219 this morning. Ate a big breakfast and for the first time in forever had a chocolate milk right after lifting. Changing a light bulb overhead and my pants slid straight off. Wife says she likes me ripped. I told her I’m not her sex toy. Actually found some old XL t-shirts that’re tight but fit again and some of my 2xl are almost to big.

I am off to Bali in a week and spent yesterday trying on clothes to pack, ended up with a rather large pile of shorts that were too damn tight. I told the misses it is all those squaaaats, but she just laughs and says its probably the pizza I had on Saturday night. Its nice to feel loved !!

A hero of my youth died today, Brian Oldfield. Held the Shot Put WR for years, popularized the rotational method, compete in highland games. A legend in my circle. You can find vids of him on you tube dunking a 16# shot, high jumping 6’6" weighing 275#, almost beat O.J Simpson (yeah, hard to remember when OJ was a sports star now) in the 100yd dash in the superstars. Threw all kinds of heavy stuff. He’ll be missed.
