And just got invited to another one on May 21. A night meet. Haven’t done one under the lights in years.

Yesterday the side was still a little tight so hit the pool early.
500m swim
100m x 2 breast stroke

That’s it, nothing hard, just a nice slow swim to loosen up. It worked, All the stiffness was gone after.
Yard work all day to day, and up to the college to throw tomorrow. Got invite to another meet yesterday so next 2 meets are May 7 & 21.

Congratulations on a good start to what looks like a busy meet schedule for you.

That’s awesome for sure! How long do you wear the medals around for anyway? Just asking, in case I get one

z-man, I usually wear them and casually wander over near the 80 to 90 year women at the meet, always catches their attention and elicits at least 2 or 3 “well you did good for yourself, young man!” Makes me feel young and sexy.

Saturday, all day at one of the brother’s places clearing an acre of land an putting in the foundation for a new barn. Hard work but good party when the work was done.

Great deadlifting and throwing there. Congratulations on your wins! That’s incredible and it’s great to hear a young person give those kind of compiments…great job.

More medals? Yawn…I want to see another Sword!

I lucked into some awesome late night TV -the first 3 seasons of World’s Strongest Man. Brian Oldfield was in season 2 (I think) and won the tire toss -done from a circle, so it was like the discus throw for him. I think it was the only event Oldfield was competitive in, he looked like a giraffe with his build amongst all the other athletes.

There was even a caber toss for distance only, not straightness, in season 3.

Yes, yes, I remember the sword. That was awesome.
Thanks for the advise, concerning ‘medal etiquette’. Should come in handy someday.

Thanks Gv, but as they say all glory is fleeting and it’s on to prep for the next one.
Punny Guy, since I’m not competing in the Highland Games this year, no weapons, and the wife’s happy. I’ve accumulated a pretty good armory out in the shed, swords, dirks, daggers, bunch of maces. I talk to Brian every now and then. He and John Powell run a throwing camp out west. He’s pretty much wheel chair bound but just as damn mean. One of a kind.

Harry did I read correctly on another thread your a Kaiju fan??:open_mouth:

If you are …HOT DAMN!!!

Nice throwing Harry. The medals are hard earned.

Enjoy reading thru your log. Inspirational stuff.

My shoulders don’t hate me so much since I, too, switched to a more narrow grip.

I hope this comes out. Last years Christmas ornament,Godzilla

And yes, I’m actually working out. Lifting and swimming and taking advantage of a look run of great weather. Trying for the “Make up your Mind” award, I’ve reverted to throwing the shot using the rotational style. Back in the 80’s this was the style I used and even up until several years ago. It requires at lot of practice which I didn’t have the time to devote. Tried it at the college the other day, awkward, timing sucked, almost out of sector, and farther than my last PR. Last 2 training sessions it’s all I.ve used. Need to gain confidence in it before my next meet.
Went down to the river (nod to Bruce S.) and swam maybe 200m before deciding it was still to cold. One more month and it’ll be just right.
Lifting, nothing new except I’ve added a single arm shoulder press down to try and work the shoulder in a way that mimics the throw.

 Im the same way here. I have own a copy of every G -movie ever made be it on DVD or VHS or taped off from late night TV. With the exception of the second one of the series Godzilla raids again. Definitely a guilty pleasure. I have even infected my youngest son… below is a pic he drew if that tells you anything

.

That’s a really good drawing. I got Godzilla Raids Again in a Toho Master’s Collection set. They put it out really quick to capitalize on Gojira’s success and it shows. But then that’s half the fun. I’ve never use the service but I see where YouTube has it on sell for $3.98. I Think they may just let you download it, not sure.

One of those days when I sat up full awake in the middle of the night. Wanted to go swimming in the river so bad but common sense prevailed so I headed out to the gym.

Owner was coming in as I was leaving so sat and had a cup of coffee with him, It says something about a gym when there’s a pretty full house at 430am. Owner’s old like me, Army ranger then, competitive bodybuilder, back in the day. He runs a damn good business and makes god awful coffee
.

Rot gut coffee could be the best. Damn you’re strong, that’s some great pressing.
