One of those days I had to make myself stop. First meet is April 13 and I’m starting to feel the need to compete. Got 5 T&F meets lined up so far, been asked to be in a couple of swimming and there are a couple of local gym pl meets I may enter just for shits and grins.
Followed up my workout with my highly regimented diet of breakfast at Waffle Hous with 2 bothers and assorted nephew & great nephews. Good day going.

Did you throw the same south African 12 times, or was it 12 different south Africans?

I was watching a show on food in the Philippines with the Bizarre Foods guy (Andrew Zimmern), and I can only wonder how you spent months in the Philippines and did not come back looking like the Michelin man. All that fatty, fried pork!

Threw the same South African but it was Charlize Theron. (It’s a half turn style.) Pork dishs for sure in the PI. I’m very near the water and about 1/2km from fisherman docks. Fresh seafood off the ships. Prawns, crab. bangus (milkfish), sea bass and squid. Caught a lot snorkeling and with scuba, too. Coconut, mangoes, and jackfruit on the property. Nieces planted all kinds of melons so ate lots of fruit. If I figure out how to post pics here I’ll put some up. After enough beer and assorted booze we’d break out the balot (look that one up). We did do a couple of 40k + pigs for a wedding and a christening. Mainly kept the weight off by swimming. Lots, everyday, above and below the water. Eventually I’ll be moving to our house there full time. Heading back again the end of September this year. Can’t wait.

Reading about all this great food has me wanting to chow down this evening.

I was born in Hong Kong, and the Chinese eat some pretty wacky food. I’m pretty sure I sampled monkey brains (Indiana Jones got nuthin on me!) back in the day… But when it comes to the balut I say NO MAS lol.

We usually stop by Hong Kong for a couple of days. Wife has relatives there, too. You can get truly disgusting food there but I really enjoy it there.

Outstanding weather the last 2 days.
Yesterday, Discus at the college with the throwers. Good group but no real stand outs. Most the men are drafted from the football team and “threw a little in High School”. Worked with them on their form and got my own throwing in.

Starting to get that ready feeling. Moving faster across the circle, Shot’s starting to get that lighter, familiar feel. Exploding into the throw more, redefining the laws of physics, defying gravity, choirs of angels accompany each throw, vestal virgins scatter rose pedals on the field…
Okay, workouts are going really good. Looking to set new pr’s in both the shot and discus at first meet, April 13, Alabama Senior Olympics. Looking to just throw the javelin without hurting myself.
Suppose to lift tomorrow but if we keep getting this great weather may throw again. Steaks on the Barbie tonight.

Have to say I prefer a narrower grip on my benches too. Great to read about your throwing and teaching the throws.

Gorilla, several years ago I made a deal with the college I could use all their facilities if I helped with their throwers. They only have 1 coach and she knows Track very well, the throws not so much. Work with 2 local Track and Field Clubs made up primarily of low income kids, too.

Today, shot put with a local High School. Coach asked me to come out and give her throwers some pointers, It was fun and I got some good throwing in.

Some good catching up here; lifting, throwing and swimming (I guess). The H.S/college kids take to your coaching fairly well? As far as, teenagers paying attention goes. Sure hope so.
