Oh, I can get a locker. I’m just cheap and lazy and want to see if I can get away with it. ![]()
I definitely wouldn’t run in chucks for even 1.5 miles if I were you…I wouldn’t run at all for over 1 mile, though.
I am no fan of running shoes, I run in my Vibram kso treks pain free. However when you run in minimalist shoes you cant heel strike, makes a bit of a difference. For a comprehensive article on running google Barefoot Teds Adventures. I don’t think running a couple of miles in your Chucks will bother you. If you try running in some vibrams, or barefoot! you may find that is hard to run in anything else!

Agreed. The heel strike is an old running idea and it has lower running economy (uses more energy) than leaning forward a little bit and striking in the middle to front of the foot. When you heel strike, the impact goes straight into your knees, which would be even more hazardous if you aren’t wearing padded shoes, because the ankle flexing isn’t happening to absorb the shock. I’ve never run in chucks before, but if they allow you to flex your ankle when you land towards the front of your foot they shouldn’t be too bad.
^ hm. interesting.
I wouldn’t run in chucks, but I also play soccer on turf in molded cleats or other barely-there soccer shoes, so i guess it can’t be that bad…
I used to run in moccassins for 2 miles every day on roadways with a backpack - avoiding bullies on the school bus, so it was some time ago, but I never had any foot ankle or knee problems and did it for years. I always ran on the balls of my feet ,though. Wouldn’t dare heel-strike in a non-padded-soled shoe like chucks.
well, I think I’m not going to run in Chucks after all; don’t want to gamble with my ankles.
squat: 10@45, 5@95, 5@115, 5@135, 3@155, 2x1@165
press: 10@45, 5@55, 5@65, 1@75
powerclean: 5@45, 5@65, 5@75, 5@85
50 pushups
single-leg RDL’s: 3x5@35’s
Congrats on graduating!! You start your grad school program in the fall, right?
Interesting about the running. I wonder if my knee would let me run if I tried to stay on the balls of my feet.
Nice training, your push ups amaze me!

Wise decision.
A “long card”:
- Side Straddle Hops 30-4
- Push Ups 20-4
- Chest Press Flings 10-4
- Squats 30-4
- Cherry Pickers 10-4
- Lunges 30-4
- Push Ups 20-4
- Chest Press Flings 10-4
- Flutter Kicks 100-4
- Hello Dollies 25-4
- Half Jacks 30-4
- Star Jumpers 20-2
- 12 Count B-builders 20
- UDT Flutter Kicks 20-4
- Leg Lifts 20-2
- Hello Dollies 25-4
- Dirty Dogs 15-4
- Squats 30-4
- Push Ups 20-4
- Chest Press Flings 10-4
- Mountain Climbers 20-4
And then a three-mile run.
I’m going to work up to going through the sequence four times.
Still don’t have my endurance back, but I’ll get there.
Food is not too bad: the way my family works, I don’t get much protein, but at least portions are small. Breakfast was a fruit & yogurt smoothie, lunch was two hardboiled eggs, scoop of tabouli, cucumbers, spoon of hummus, quarter pita.

Holy mother of god that’s intense! What’s a cherry picker, dirty dog, star jumper, or a hello dollie?
cherry picker: straddle stance, walk your hands back three times on the ground then stand back up.
dirty dog: like a fire hydrant. (get on all fours and raise your leg… like a dog peeing on a fire hydrant.)
star jumper: squat position jump to jumping jack position
hello dollie: scissor kick.
HAHA! Those names are freaking incredible. That does sound incredibly intense, in a good way!
How did you come about this workout?
Looks like boot camp all over again!
Friend in the military.
I’m not about to let him show me up!
^ aha, well that explains it!

squish pics:
and more squish pics.
I weigh 140 even, and I’ll be a happy camper at 135 or so, or whatever gets rid of the saddlebags. Should be doable.

stupid tight shorts.
I see no squish or saddlebags, only hawt quads.
