Thanks to the Veterans

I’m one of the few proud lefties on these forums, but even I am repulsed by your disrespect.
I agree with much that you say regarding needless US involvement around the world. But this thread was nothing more than a respectful remembrance and thanks to those who fought and died (and still continue to do so) for causes that they may not necessarily agree with, yet do their duty regardless.
Can you at least PLEASE respect the nature of this thread’s intent, if not those whom this thread is dedicated?
Please?
This is the original post:

I just wanted to make a post thanking the veterans for protecting us and our freedooms to give us the ability to live in the greatest country in the world. I read the next paragraph in an article and it sums up how I feel.

You serve and fight for the greatest Nation in the history of civilization. There has never been a grievous wrong that good Americans have not sought to rectify. There has never been a just cause on which America has turned her back for long. You, our soldiers, have been and continue to be, the greatest force for freedom and human rights ever gathered. You have raised our flag around the world, not for domination, but to bring greater liberty and a better way of life. You are the reason America remains a beacon of hope to the entire world.

You seek neither glory nor riches, nor even fame. You are our best, our brightest, our bravest. Please always know that even when we don’t show it, we love you. We appreciate you. We thank you. And we will never forget you or forsake you.
As I said I do not shit over all of these threads, but how could I possibly not shit all over this?

edit: “Beacon of hope for the entire world”. Hell, yes we look to the “greatest nation on earth” to send “the greatest force for freedom” to “rectify our wrongs”. Not to “dominate us”, oh no, to bring “greater liberty and a better way of live”.

I mean Jesus, hell no.

Bonus point for " greatest force for freedom and human rights ever gathered". Id say life is a pretty basic human right but maybe that is just me?

I’m a vet and give a fuck less that cowards try to judge me. Anything I have done I live with each day and night.
So talk your trash because that’s all you’re good for. Just talk.

I COMPLETELY CONCUR SIR! COULDN’T HAVE BEEN SAID ANY BETTER!

Orion, whether trolling or not, you could show some of that respect you elude to in your ‘about me’ quote and STFU.

As a former Marine Sergeant I didn’t always agree with my orders, I simply followed them the same way my troops followed me. That’s what we do. Just ask Teddy R. While I agree with several of your points (keep the Christianity out of this, as Chiristians have demonstrated a blood-lust for hundreds of years: Spanish Inquisition anyone, The Crusades, etc.) and I never appreciated feeling like the EGA on my chest was really a ‘world police badge’, NONE of that matters because discipline is key within the military and that means following your orders. Nothing more, nothing less.

So YES those who have fallen, served or still actively serve deserve our (Americans) respect. BTW, I’ve been to too many other countries for you to argue about our ‘freedoms’ with me. If you have no respect for those who serve in your own country, fine, I’m sure they care. Leave our opinions to us and feel free to keep yours to yourself. An old saying comes to mind: If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything.
First in what countries have you been? If I compare Austria to Somalia and Cambodia we are doing fine too.

Then, the “we just follow orders” approach does not really fly. I am aware that soldiers do that and that that is how it should be, a politically active military would be worse in most cases.

But, you chose to join an army that has not “defended Americas freedom” for over 60 years now and if you join an organization that is used to spread an aggressive imperialist/mercantlist agenda you are responsible for that decision.

Of course you are completely free to do that, but to expect respect?

Why?

Just imagine someone came up to them and told them this:

Dude, we both know killing and stealing is wrong but I have a piece of magic cloth that makes it all ok.

No really, as long as you wear it and do as I say you are not responsible for even your worst actions .

Everyone would immediately think that person was insane.

And yet, that really is the whole story.

Oh, and when they have been really good at that they get shiny metal objects they can pin on their heroic bosom because we all know that chicks dig shiny things.

Why? What they said was correct.

It should not be a problem for you to explain why they are idiots.

I thought PWI…was in PWI. Figures…if there is slightest trace of shit…there are flies…or a fly in this case.

Orion, seriouly man what are you trying to prove? I understand that you arent from the USA so why are you commenting on a post that honors or current and fallen soldiers. If you have a problem with that you are a scumbag. Several members of my family have fought and died for this country and my dad was drafted and did 2 tours of Vietnam. He has been disabled for the last 40 years because of injusries he sustained in the war. So will you let us honor our US soldiers and you do and say as you feel with your Austrian soldiers.

Thank you for reading my mind about these trolls, I wanted to make a post honoring my fallen family members and my disabled father, and all of the other soldiers out there and i have to listen to the retard euro trash on here, man it is really getting to me.

You shouldn’t take offense to what he said. I certainly don’t.

Read the initial post that started the thread and then read Orion’s first response to it.

All he is questioning is the blind patriotism and hero-worship of service members that we all should have grown out of at a young age.

Just because someone wears a U.S. military uniform doesn’t make them noble or a hero. It also doesn’t make the wars they fight in just.

This is what I do not get.

Your father was drafted to fight a lost cause that was sold with a lie and has been disabled for 40 years and yet you do not get what could possibly be wrong with this picture?

What if that had been IBM or the Mafia or the tooth fairy?

Would you honor them?

Then go make a thread and honor your father.

Honor those that went because they were made to go at gunpoint and never came back.

Honor those that went because of a lie and never came back.

I personally do not see the honor in that but I do see the tragedy.

If you manage to do that without posting a completely retarded spiel on how the most noble shouldered the white mans burden and bringing the light of civilization to those poor savages that had to be massacred for their own good I promise to stay out and otherwise I will be all over it like a fly is all over shit as BB so nicely pointed out.

So, if you want this particular Eurtorash fly out of these threads do not post too much shit.

I made the original post and I still think that you are a Eurotrash scumbag, the post was the way that I feel about the US veterans. Orion I dont give a shit what you have to say about that, I have family in the military that I have very strong feelings for that have died for this country. You are probably the type of scumbag that spit on soldiers like my father when he came back for Nam. I really and sincerely hope that you rot in hell.

Oh give Orion a break. He’s just one of those “enlightened” happy go lucky peaceful Europeans. You know after thousands of years of Europeans killing each other over mostly dumb shit, I guess they finally figured out how to love each other. I guess we Americans just need time to catch up.

Oh well hopefully when the Europeans turn on each other, yet again, and start WWIII, folk like Orion, won’t cry to loud for us evil American soldiers to come liberate them. I’m sure we will even though we aren’t really defending our freedom by saving Europe, for a 3rd time, but I’m sure most of us will be willing to do it anyway.

Yes, after thousands of years we have not killed each other in some parts of Europe. That is better than not killing each other.

And yes, it would be awesome if you could also stop killing other people.

The mere fact that you think that that is the stuff sarcasm is made of is frightening.

There is one nation that has started more wars in the 20 century than any other, which is iumpressive, given that it only got going in the second half.

But I guess because it de3fended its freedom so vigilantly it now has so much of it.
