Texas Warming

Even our mighty Texas Rangers played a day game today 2pm I believe in honor of Chuck Norris, but honestly the heat is bad for the kids and elderly. Just a few blocks away from me a 2yrs old was left in the car for 3hrs this past week and that poor baby died. It really breaks my heart, imagine that girl suffering, while the whole family is inside watching TV.

I would have lined them up in the front yard and shot them all, ala execution style. This shit pisses me off to no end. I hear about this shit once ever week or two.

I have never understood this shit myself, I have 5 kids and I have no fucking clue how you forget about one of your children. Especially a kid that young, I mean really the parents should be convicted of a crime. Never looked into that, anybody know? Do they prosecute parents for neglect in cases like this?

Seems about normal to me, but normal really starts to suck about this time of year when you know that you still have another 6 weeks before it will be comfortable outside on occasion. 1998 was the hottest I remember. I was in college (in College Station, 90 mi. NW of Houston) taking summer classes and remember stepping out on to a parking lot and feeling the heat in my eyeballs.

What the fuck? The temp is supposed to hit over 102 degrees today in Houston.

I mean…what happens if there is global warming and you fuckers don’t do shit until we get microwaved off this rock?!
Shut your face, I haven’t seen 95 degrees since 6:30 in the morning for 3 months.
LOL

It is just that I specifically remember as a kid the news stating that “93 degrees” was the hottest it got one summer…and now we are up ten degrees more than that as a regular fucking occurrence…but there is nothing to worry about.

I remember playing in the sun as a kid all fucking day long. You can’t stand out in this shit now for more than 10min without feeling like you just got burned to near second degree.
WAH, WAH, WAH…

I haven’t seen a hundo in MINNESOTA, since I was a kid. It’s cooling off up here. 102 sounds pretty standard for a hot Texas summer day, and if not, what the fuck IS the weather supposed to be like in Texas in the summer? You can count on lower/mid ninties in MN summer, I’d expect Texas to have at least 10 degrees on us.
What’s with this thought process that the temperature just keeps going up the farther south you go? It matters where you live, what kind of landscape you have, what kind of bodies of water you have, what kind of weather comes into your region.

San Diego was 70 degrees the entire time I was there. I head North East to Phx, and it’s 98 at 6 in the morning.
Probably that whole thing about the equator and the suns rays, just a guess though… I get what you’re saying, but typically further south will be warmer. Sort of like how you would expect FL to be hotter than MN on any given day
That doesn’t mean it is usually anywhere near 100 fucking degrees. That is what my computer is reading as the temp currently. How the hell are people who don’t live here going to tell the people who do what we should find normal?
I was in Dallas for a summer back in '05. I don’t recall the temps, but it was ridiculous hot there almost the entire time

I’m convinced it’s the declining quality of the air. When I moved to DFW aobut 12 years ago, the summers were hot, no doubt. However, the last few have been fucking brutal, and I’m convinced it’s because of increases in pollution and an overall decline of air quality in the Metroplex. Just makes the heat that much worse.

X, I don’t know how you have survived Houston as long as you have. As humid as it is down there, along with the decline in air quality, it’s no wonder that people in Houston are pissed off all the time. I was down there last year in April, and it was already miserable.

And I don’t know who said Texans don’t (or shouldn’t) complain. It’s fuckin hot out…and it feels worse than it used to. Complain away.

Now that I think about it, I wouldn’t say Texans complain any more or less than anybody else. The ones from down around the Hondo area run their mouths a lot, and act like they know everything about everything, but that just seems to be folks from that part of Texas.

Gotcha. Yeah…we had a elderly couple found dead in their home. Their window unit had broken and tried to make do. Sad.

Agreed…but I see that a lot on this site…jackasses with ZERO experience telling others with experience how they should feel about things.

I lived in Florida for a few years and while the temp is often the same, there is a constant breeze coming through so it never feels as ridiculously dry or humid as this shit lately.

I mean, I can feel this burning my skin when out in it…and I’m dark as hell.

This is not the same thing I grew up with. People can speak of cycles from 50 years ago all they want to, but this shit is deadly and the way people are dying lately, either the human race got really weak in the last generation or this weather is getting more intense.

I’m noticing a trend, does anyone else see it?

A little of “A” (humans are weaker) and LOT of “B” the weather is getting worse. I am one of those that believe the earth is on a cycle and we are coming around the end of one and going into another.
But with more humans on the planet than there has ever been I can’t understand how people think WE-HUMANS are not having an effect also.
From the amount of waste and the amount of animals we breed to feed the population we are pushing the limits. I just think its all a done deal though.

Its not in our nature to change to better anything but ourselves unless we are forced to do so. In the End we will be a book mark on the planet like that tiny ring in the core of a giant red wood.

Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn’t be better for the planet if some kind of virus swept through and knocked off about 50% of the population. I wouldn’t be surprised if that were to happen. Mother Nature tends to take care of most things on her own.

This is what I was getting at.

I personally think there needs to be a limit on the kids a family can have. This “I have 5 illigit kids running around” bullshit needs to stop. Families should be limited to two (maybe three) kids in a household depending on income.

I know that may sound bad but what the fuck will we do when China is filled to the brim and a few hundred years later when the rest of the world is as well?

WE are apart of Mother Nature. Humans like to seperate themselves from the rest of the planet. I love hearing people say we need to “SAVE THE EARTH” or “Save the PLANET”. Like we live on MARS talking about our neighbor in trouble. “SAVE YOURSELF” is more like it.

Diesese and WAR is apart of the world regulating itself. We want to pretend there could be world peace but if that was to happen we would populate and not be able to sustain ourselves.

Think- when was the last time WE the US has not been in a war-military action-etc. I’m not sure 10yrs has ever gone by without it in the last 100yrs. And thats just the US not talking about the whole world.

Think- If all the people that passed in those wars reproduced what would our poplulation look like now.

We are apart of the planet we regulate ourselves to a degree but maybe this time we are not moving fast enough and the planet is helping us along. OK that last line was a joke…not really.

I wouldn’t worry about overpopulation too much if you have faith in demographic trends. Immigration removed, most developed countries (US, Canada, most of Europe) are headed towards a birthrate of less than 2 per household if they’re not already there, and the countries that aren’t below 2 yet are moving that direction (with the exception of a few middle eastern and African nations).

That may be, but I know of far too many people with kids they rarely even see or know much about and that has t be contributing greatly…especially in third world countries where there is no accountability at all.

Also, like I wrote, China’s population is just fucking scary.

I agree(that’s bad), however I’m often accused of being one of the “dumbest” people on this site by YOU. For today you are king of the idiots and hypocrits, enjoy it while it lasts, It won’t be long before I steal the throne from you.

Yeah, some people think India will pass them up around 2050 since they haven’t mandated family size yet.

Fucked up bu hopefully that whole caste system and Indias shitty infrasturcture can solve the population problems.

I flew out of Maine early this morning in 50 degree rainy weather. I stepped out of the airplane in Dallas in a fucking triple digit temperature oven. LMAO!

There is no doubt-- It’s fucking HOT down here.

I can’t even imagine Houston which I imagine is a bit more humid.

Welcome to Texas SteelyD.

This is the time of year we live “climate controlled” unless you have access to a boat.

Nov til June is usually pretty decent, so 4 months of hell and then home free for the year. I always wondered how folks got along before central air.

Like Prof.X is eluding, it might have been more tolerable 100 years or more ago.

Hope you have a good visit regardless.
