I wanted to see if anyone else has had this happen before, or if they have heard of the reasoning I was given for it.
Have been on TRT for approx. 9.5 years. Currently on 250 (squeeze out 270) a week (yes i know this is far beyond normal “TRT” doses, not arguing this, i want it as high as they will let me take it, which is why i pay out of pocket)
Started at around 100, then 150 then 200 now at 250 a week, split up into 2 injections normally, but before i get my labs, i always inject once a week, its how my provider has asked me to do it.
Once i reached 200 a week, my labs were always above range, not by a ton, but well above.. Generally 1100 TT and FT, just above the reference range.
Since switching to 250/270 a week, my numbers have been going down. Both Total and Free test.. My last test had me at 800 total test and free test was below top of the reference range, closer to middle than top. Nothing else has changed, SHBG is same, CBC is about the same, my routine is the same. The only thing that was different was an increase from 200/220 a week to 250/270 a week. So i was quite surprised when my numbers went down, its been like this for the last 2 lab draws. If anyone is wondering, i have problems with low e2, which is why my provider is OK with me going to top of range, as well as i have never had high HCT HGB or RBC readings.
The providers explanation (who i completely trust, and is very well respected and known in his practice) was that i am “using” the testosterone. I do workout quite frequently and with intensity. Steadily getting bigger, but not like you would on a cycle, i just dont eat enough to put on that kind of muscle mass, and im OK with that.. However, i have heard several people talk about this also, and its only been recently. Has anyone else, heard of experienced this? My only thought is that with increased muscle mass, there are more androgen receptors, which the test is sitting on, and unavailable to be read? Does that even make sense?
