I’m only 32 years old and I recently asked my doctor for an evaluation of my testosterone level. The results came back at 296 and she is telling me that’s within normal range. I’ve done much of my own reading and it looks like anything under 300 deciliter is considered low. Not to mention, I found another table on WebMD showing normal T levels by age group and I think the low end for me was 440.
If I didn’t experience most of the symptoms I would letthe issue go but I’m not satisfied with her saying I’m within normal range. I’m tying to find an Endochrinologist but the only ones in Vegas seem to specialize in fertility. Is there another specialist that I can see? Should I just say the he’ll with it and take Alpha Male or something? Any advice would be great.
I would print off the info - making sure it is from a recognised and respected medical source and not some forum or regular site - and show here. More than one print of various sources would be best.
Then if that didn’t work, i would seek a second opinion.
Trouble is, the range goes from anywhere from around 200ng/Dl to 1400ng/Dl IIRC, and certain labs and literature (and doctors) have a slightly different range.
Do you think your run of the mill, arrogant and up their arse doctor is going to second guess herself because some mainstream pseudo web-doctor site says something different? Fuck no!
(I am not saying all MD’s are like this - just every damn one i meet).
Respected in the medical community… they are the sites that you dont understand 95% of what they are saying, you cant miss em!
Try:
Pubmed
Endojournals
Also search such things like - ‘Optimal endogenous testosterone levels in healthy adult men’
This one says that older men with hormone levels under 240ng/Dl are 40% more likely to die that men with higher T:

Tribulus gets a lot of credit doesn’t it.

I have read that >700ng/Dl is optimal - NO SHIT![/quote]
JJ - what are you thoughts on tribulus - do you think it is worthwhile?
It is an interesting one it seems to be well liked and rated by experienced users but evidence is sparse or negative - what you reckon personally?
I will say that when i used it - a number of times, it can sometimes increase my libido and has once seemed to aggravate gyno.
This suggests it may increase T - BUT IME this not only never actually transferred into gains but importantly for this topic, when suppressed (but not inhibited mind you) it never once increased libido…
I should add that the Biotest products are the strongest, purest products i have used and i know that they are a quality company and have researched all their products. honestly.
Bill works as one of their supplement designers and i respect that man immensely (which is actually a better point as far as my own personal moral goes…)
The doctors decided to treat me for the deficiency. The first medication they wanted to prescribe was Andro-Gel but at $250/month I can’t even begin to afford that. Our pharmacist recommended trying Testosterone CYT (I think it was cyt) as it’s as effective but like 1/5th the cost. Hopefully my doctor will work with me on this because I would hate to miss the treatment because the prescription is not affordable. Anybody else use either prescription?
Transdermal is a bitch, its expensive, irritates some guys skin, a bunch of trouble to apply and reapply if you sweat alot or shower or shit.
Its just a headache compared to an injection.
The injection is “peace of mind” and thats worth a shit load to most.
It ended up being $82 for 5 months, which is considerably better than $250 a month.
I gave myself my first injection this morning and it really didn’t hurt more than a slight pinch, which I was surprised at being how I’ve read elsewhere that it really hurts, hopefully I did it right.

Thanks for all the input.
And besides…its cheaper.

As long as you used the proper length needle, and you inject in your ass/quad, it doesn’t hurt at all.
We usually run homemade stuff that burns a bit, your stuff is pharmagrade courtesy of the finest government labs…
I went to an age management clinic recently, where their recommended level for testosterone was 820. Granted, there may be a little little inflation in what they consider optimal, but after being on prescription cyp and hgh the last three months, it’s great to still be seeing gains at 48.

That’s interesting information, hopefully I can get to that point.
How did you feel after the first few days of being on it? This may sound kind of lame, but I do feel like a new man. My mood is better, stamina, strength, more explosiveness, libido is better, it’s rather amazing.

There is a reason ‘age clinics’ have high recommended levels; They charge a lot more for the drugs than they are worth (simply as anyone can get a script as opposed to a doctor), so it is in their interest to not only prescribe more (more profit) but for the prices they charge it is in their interest to have their clients as happy as possible, so they continue to pay up…
@ BBB: Right now the doctor has prescribed 200ml dose every two weeks, so that’s what I plan to stick to for now. If anybody has different experiences or recommendations let me know. My body adapting to this and reverting to how I felt prior to the treatment is a concern of mine, as similar things have happened to me with asthma and allergy medications. But so far so good!
Today was my first day waking up for work since I began and I didn’t have much trouble waking up; all-in-all I feel pretty good today, it’s pretty cool.
this is basically what i do, i am scripted at 100mg per week this works much much better if it is split into AT LEAST 2 shots at 50mg each. Traditional docs will tell you there is no reason to do this …THEY ARE WRONG… lastly go over to the over 35 forum much more trt info there
I’m not old enough for that forum ;). j/k I’ll check it out when I get home.
Well, I took the 200mg dose on Friday, so should I just let it ride until next Monday and take 50mg and then another 50mg on Friday? Also, what do you do for syringes, just reuse some. I think I only have enough for the prescribed dosing schedule.

You, ummmm, buy more. Reuse?? That was supposed to be a bit of humour right?
