Testerone Level Confusion

I had my testosterone levels checked by my physician, and the results are confusing me.

I read the article “Level with me doc, how long do I have?” and knew what to ask for, unfortunately that isn’t the information the doctor had available. He said the normal range for Testosterone levels was 2.8-8.0, however he did not say 2.80-8.0 WHAT.

I’m confused, what measurement is this?

Mine was 2.92, which is low on whatever scale he was using.

That sounds like your free test level and you are right that is low. When you get test levels drawn they give you your total T, your free T, and your bound T. Bound isn’t good as SHGB has “bound” to it and once it’s bound it’s pretty much useless as far as the benefits of Testosterone.

He meant 280 - 800 ng/dl. You scored 292, which pretty much sucks unless your past the age of 60. If your under 60, that is really bad and your gonna need to take action.

Might be serum test in NG/ML.

That would be 290 ng/dl. Very, very low unless your about 90 year old man or female.

At that level are you having problems like forgetfulness, depression, decreased libido, poor workouts, etc?

You really need to get on it. If your doctor won’t take it serious as a problem find a new one.

Yeah, I’m 19.

He put me on the lowest dosage of Androgel. So in 2 months I’m going back to see how that goes.

Jesus, 19 and already on the stuff. There has got to be somethin in the water

Hell, I’m just glad to finally have a cause for some of the stuff that’s been going on with me in the past two years.

I’m hoping that I’m going to be feeling a bit better in general now.

yeah thats harsh… . do you have any sex drive at all?

Absolutely none. It’s been really worrying me. Funny, because I had no problems in that area up until when I was 17, I was the average teenage horndog. I’ve tried dating, but just never really saw the point. Hopefully that’s changing.

Haven’t had a girlfriend in two years, that’s a bitch. Will be nice to get back into the game though, was definitely fun the last time around.

Actually, I did have some serious issues when I was 17/18. I guess the closest thing you could call it was anorexia, I dropped to 165 at 6’5", at around 6% bodyfat. I’m guessing that affected things. Regardless, I was on a medication that was new and untested in adolescents, now they have all kinds of warnings on it from cases like mine.

Live and learn…

I think there are serious problems with society in general when so many kids are found to have ADHD. Perhaps…they are just being kids?

Absolutely. Some kids have energy for days it seems like and this is supposed to be a bad thing. If johnny likes to be active a lot, support it, encourage it…don’t throw him on drugs to turn him into a zombie.

If they got ADHD just make them do low rep high intensity with short rest periods… that’ll shut them up!

Not that I agree with ADHD meds(Im neutral) but unless you were abusing the medication, it wouldn’t have caused a significant drop in test, and any drop in test it may/may not have caused would have been reversed once you stop taking said drug.

I don’t know what happened. I have a pretty low voice and everything else is fine development wise, but something caused it to drop around the time I was 17. Your guess is as good as mine.
