Test Level of 23ng/dL at 65 Years Old

Would a 65 year old man with a level of 23ng/dL be offered treatment by a GP in the US or are they likely to be told its just age related and need to go private?
Thanks from the UK (asking as I saw something on a totally different site and wondered about the answer).

I think so, either that or referral to urology.

GP’s don’t typical do hormones, they usually refer you to speciality doctor such as endocrinologist’s and urologist’s.

These testosterone levels are abysmal!

The problem in UK isn’t just about getting TRT approved, it’s the bad protocols that drive men to these private clinics.

In the US, it’s far easier to get TRT but treatment protocols are still lacking!

Refresh me on the reference range here… it should be somewhere in the vicinity of 300-900, no?

These are female levels of testosterone (9-50ng/dL, reference range pending)

25ng/dl is pretty much 0. do you still have functioning testicles. and yes, TRT asap.
most docs in the USA are garbage, yes they would give you TRT but typically some garbage too low 1x 2 weeks protocol.

Dude you need an endocrinologist… full workup

There’s something SERIOUSLY wrong with you here…

Beyond age related hypogonadism

Like yeah you need replacement. But find out what’s causing you to have a total testosterone level of 23ng/dl!

Seriously, this lab result is so low it makes me think he got a female’s results as a lab error.

There is no set standard; every doctor is different. One doctor may say yes, one may say no. It’s a real coin toss. So, you’re gonna have to ask around. No one can say “yes any doctor would Rx you at that level”.

Thanks to all the replies and sorry I didn’t make it plainer in the OP that this isn’t me, I saw someone post on a medical thread on a different forum that they had been tested at these levels and I answered to get more tests done, ask for an appointment with an endocrinologist but said I didn’t know if with those levels at that age you would automatically get treatment in the US or need to go private.

As @Andrewgen_Receptors says these levels are soo low it may be a mistake in testing and if not it does scream serious intervention needed.
If the person follows up with more info I will update this post.
Thanks again to all.
