Level, I have no idea why I wrote MCL. It was my meniscus. And, they said I didn’t tear the meniscus, I had two chunks “tear” off and get under the knee cap [not really sure of the difference]. I still have the DVD of the repair but haven’t actually watched it. The “emptiness” is kind of upper inside where the VMO is [towards the midline], and the popping and catching is on that side but directly below the midline of the knee. The two pains are maybe an inch apart, but they feel connected, if that makes any sense. Sorry if any of that is confusing.
Biggity-bump
This is something I’ve been dealing with for years (and I’m 25), probably due to ankle injuries and flat feet. It would come and go, but I finally got sick of it and have been ponying up for a top notch soft tissue specialist. I’d gone to others before that never really helped, but this guy literally made a difference within 30 seconds.
Unfortunately, there were so many other problems I have been going for nearly 3 months now, but I’m just about done (well, I was until I tore my hamstring 2 weeks ago). For anyone in Manhattan, go to Wayne Winnick. Incredibly good.
The treatments border on unbearably painful, but that’s what gets the job done. Other docs I’ve gone to haven’t been willing to push that hard, and regular PT would help while I did it, but never permanently. It had been so bad that some days I could barely get up stairs. Not an issue now.
Try and find recommendations for someone good. Who you see makes a huge difference.
