Temple of The Dog

Hello men. I write to you tonight from a desperate place, but not a womanly desperate place that you can’t understand. I’m alone, and not like a female…it’s got nothing to do with gender. Save your bullshit, I don’t need to get laid, I’m beautiful I don’t care about that shit. Listen to me. I am really sad. I hold up my world yes… support myself, i need nobodys dollar.

I am a woman who sings. I write music, I need a guitar and a piano. I don’t want dumbshits…seriously, if you are retarded just die. I hate you. I am talented and smart, and if you just walked out of the trailer … well, alright lemme hear your stuff first. I don’t judge. You all lift weights and thats just fine. I’m not really a bodybuilding chick I’m just a woman who loves strong men and music right.

Who can back me? Anybody? Because as it stands I’m reduced to making childrens music, and thats okay… but I can do better. Hell yeah I can. I love Brendon Small and Doc Hammer and so much …from today not yesterday. I want to collaborate with good musicians. Make history. Animated or otherwise. I’m fucking down and I have the talent. Do you?

Lay off the drugs, lady.

Nah, j/k. I think it’s great that you want to be in music. Just be different, don’t be another “formula” that works, try to be original, that’d be my advice.

Nope.

But can you feed on the powerless when your cup’s already overfilled?

I’m growing hungry.

There are quite a few musicians on these forums, seemingly most being bassists (as I am). Maybe someone has a similar drive. I know I’m too wrapped up in a thriving art career to go back to a musician’s life in a van on the road.

I feel ya. It’s rough to try and do something with your music when it doesn’t pay for itself. Keep your head up, if you give up you never will make it.

Maybe you need to dumb your music down a bit.

Most people are pretty much borderline retarded, so aiming for the lowest common denominator is often necessary.

Maybe you should learn to play the guitar or piano.

I’ve found self-sufficiency rarely lets me down.

… But I’m growing hungry…

oh wait what was this thread about again?

Narcissism?

Don’t get too far down - if it’s your calling and you’ve got talent keep plugging away, and network the hell out of the local scene. Or move to somewhere with a better scene. Very few things that are easy offer large rewards.

I don’t have any musical talent, but I appreciate it in those who do. Sorry I can’t help with the backing.

kicks self for never learning guitar

Damnit! Oh well.

goes back to playing World of Warcraft

Hey New Damage… you could learn the bass in as little as 3 months. Get started now, man!

Learn to play piano or guitar and keep grinding away. At least you know where you want to be. Don’t despair because you are not there yet.

I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.

I still have over 20 songs written and recorded from when I was in college. I am sure there are quite a few musicians here.

Not sure if that should be considered a good thing. For the talent that it had, that band has put forth the musical equivalent of a pile of steaming dog shit. Think about it. The song is essentially Cornell and Vedder taking turns wailing about how hungry they are growing. Pretty pathetic given what Pearl Jam and Sound Garden were able to put out by themselves. Guess it underscores the common denominator thought expressed earlier.

MCT - Keep your chin up and keep at it. Most people quit when they are on the verge of making a break through. Even if you do not make it, if you quit, you will have to deal with the “what if” the rest of your life.

I play drums.
