Teen Powerlifter Deadlifts 380kg

With powerlifting growing more and more crazy athletes are popping up. Apparently a teen (to be fair looks a decade or two older) so that’s crazy.

Who are some of the most impressive up and coming lifters you’ve seen?

Ah this makes me feel so weak. I sometimes think I could amount to something in powerlifting one day, but then I see monsters like this guy.

He’s a big dude but 30 weeks ago he pulled 705 for a good grinder, now he’s pulling 840??

Also “All natural vegan” yeah, okay.

Sorry he’s not using all the calibrated plates for all I know those other reds are 45s.

Kid is strong as an ox, but I smell a lot of bull shittery.

Ur just a hater who doesn’t train hard enough or count ur plant based protein macros to the microgram brah. Also you should use like RPE but in like 0.25 increments like RPE 9.75

Not sure if your being sarcastic or not… But I agree with the Bullshit statement.
Does the kid compete in a Fed or is he just a Instagram lifter? Finding it funny how many of these types of guys can bring it for the camera but fall short on the platform.

This part here is the biggest red flag. Just to put this into perspective, if you don’t eat meat/animal products then you need 1.5-2x more protein since plant protein is not as easily digestible and not complete protein. His Instagram page says he competes at 105kg, so that’s 231lbs. For a competitive strength athlete you should be eating at least 0.8g protein per pound of bodyweight, so that’s roughly 185g, but then it becomes closer to 300g of plant protein. Now, 100g of dry beans or lentils (which is pretty much the highest protein vegetarian food source) contains around 20g protein, +/- a few grams depending on the exact type. So 1lb of cooked dry beans (which is equivalent to like 3-4 cans) has maybe 100g tops. How many pounds of beans can you eat in a day? Or what else, quinoa? Tofu? Beyond Meat burgers? It sounds like he would spend half the day on the toilet.

He could eat 15 beyond meat burgers (20g each).

If someone knows his real name then we should be able to find his meet results on Open Powerlifting. His IG page says he’s the Swiss IPF champ.

Probably, he no doubt has a 700 pound pull. I’ve seen him pull 6 per side red kilo plates.

That’s 705, it was a heavy attempt for him in March. No fucking way he’s pulling 840 7 months later unless he’s on so much juice it’s leaking from his eye sockets.

Yeah, look it up. Plant protein is hard to digest and doesn’t contain all the essential amino acids in a single protein source so guidelines for protein intake for performance or physique are to consume somewhere in the range of 1.5-2x as much protein as you would from animal source.

Not so much that they are bad, you just have to eat way more. Also nuts contain a lot of fat and legumes contain a lot of carbs so caloric intake will be way higher than from meat.

I looked at the video again, it looks like a deadlift bar plus the plates are extra thick and he has the straps set so that it’s like he’s holding the bar in his finger tips. ROM would be significantly reduced, so theoretically it’s possible, but still hard to believe.

Maybe he could only fit so many fake plates on the bar so he decided to be conservative and call is 380kg?

I feel like you wanted this thread to be about more than just this dude, lol. I’ll help you out a little.

Fucking Dylan Hellriegel. The dude is 6’7, 400 lbs, squatting over 1000, deadlifting 900+, and he’s only been at this a few years competitively. He should break the all time total record at this rate. 2500+.

Oh, and he’s 23 years old.

EDIT: and to be fair, this may not qualify as ‘up and coming’. he’s already there, obviously. I just meant this as a guy who has loads of potential that we can look forward to seeing very soon.

These kids smashing absurd numbers blows my mind.

They must have been able to add on weight every session for years. I know they’ve probably been lifting for a decade and the information out there today is much, much, much, much better but it is still mind blowing

At that age, I was still doing 80 sets of arms lol

Dylan is such a freak it’s insane. He’s not even 400lbs yet I don’t think. I can’t wait to see what he does at big dogs. I mean look at how fast he squatted 970lbs.

ATWR is in danger. Would like to go see it in person but the tickets cost quite a bit

That’s interesting, I have never heard of a meet charging any significant price for entry fees. That’s not necessarily a bad thing if people are willing to pay, it means that more people are interested in watching powerlifting so more money should come into the sport.

70 bucks ish. Can just live stream it and I’m not interested in WildCats much

$70 to spectate?

Da

Firm pass on that, lol

Tickets prices bumped a lot since last year IIRC. To be fair last year it was at a medium sized venue in the outer suburbs and this year it’s been moved to the largest convention centre in Melbourne (2nd largest city in Oz) so that alone would be $$$
