Taste of Surge?

Okay… this part has confused me. On the bottle, it has one listing for mixing volumes, but when reading Berardi’s articles… it has you diluting one serving (2 scoops) in 2L of water! Which is the better usage of this product?

I guess that’s true with anything. Reminds me how I started liking Hydrolyzed Whey and flax oil

It’s angel food cake.
Dilute it, it helps you re-hydrate.

If you want to know just how good Surge is, get some Endurox Orange flavor. It the nastiest tasting stuff. You will not be able to stomach it post-workout. Nothing else out there comes close to having the right ingredients or tasting good. I’ve tried them all.

Horrible.

Used in the same sentence as Surge. Have any of you had the pleasure of tasting non flavored Hydro whey. Now that is horrible. Even slightly masking it you have to somewhat choke it down.

With a lot of work it can be considered tastey, but that is simply to much damn work, and in the end cost you more than simply buying some Surge. Also takes a considerable amount of time compared to the simple dip, shake, and enjoy method used with Surge.

I have to commend Biotest for the fine work they did with this supp… You do get a very faint hint of the hydro after taste (I dont mind, just reassures me that the Quality is A+) and they did an excellent job masking it with the (as others best described) Angle Food Cake flavor.

There is my shameless plug.

I was guilty in the past of trying numerous times to create my own PWO drink. While I am pretty sure I hit the same quality, I never came close to the taste to cost ratio of Surge. That and my time is better spent than mixing a damn drink all the time.

I couldn’t have said it better myself!

I actually dig that slight hydro after taste for the same reason- it assures me of the quality.

I also like to eat it straight from the container sometimes- it’s like lik em sticks.

But… don’t wait too long to drink it after mixing. A few times I’ve sipped it during the workout, and had to chug half a bottle 40 minutes later. The angel food flavor wears off, and you chug straight hyrdo. Awful to say the least.

I am having my second glass of Surge right now and must say that it tastes MUCH better when it is cold and taken with proper amount of water (i was used to Grow!, which i could cut some oz out with). anyways, this is much more enjoyable and i’m looking forward to results!

And if anyone says he doesn’t like the taste then he’s a little pussy who never had to endure the protein powders from the 80’s and early 90’s. Luckily, Surge tastes very good. But even if it didn’t you shouldn’t be a candyass. Do what’s right nutritionally. [/quote]

as far as this goes, dave, giving the fact you were taking shakes in the 80’s that would put you at around 40 years old. i hardly think its fitting for grown men to go online and call others pussies for not liking the taste of a drink. i was under the impression that these forums were about helping others, not putting them down.

I was in the same boat…after hearing all the hype I expected something different when I first tried it and was disappointed in the taste. But the more I had it, the more I liked it, especially when I didn’t have many sweet-tasting carbs that day.

On a side note…when it says how much you should have on the label based on your weight…is that your total weight, or lean body mass?

I believe the flavor to be more accurately described as amaretto.

Angel Food cake has amaretto in it, I believe, which is why I think many refer to it as that. Not a big fan of the angel food cake, unless it’s covered in peanutbutter.

Anyway. Taste is great and very complimetary to the Low Carb Grow! Vanilla. Also goes well with a blended coffee type drink, such as Low Carb Grow! Chocolate.

I LOVE the taste of Surge…definitely tastes like angel food cake!

The first day I got it, I loved the taste so much that I had three consecutive drinks! It’s also the first such drink that my girlfriend loves.
I like it even sweeter so I throw in 30g of sucrose to boot (yeah, I have a bit of a sweet tooth).

I too agree with Phill, if you don’t like the tatse of this, never volunteer for a post workout + amino acid protein synthesis study.

Cheers
