Well, since I am not a skinny girl I will say it!

pch2 - I hope what I said about diet was not taken as criticism. We are in the SAME boat. Eating clean and getting the right ratios of macros is the hardest thing I have to do everyday, literally. I love food and it is hard for me to avoid temptation…this is one of the things I have been learning and trying to work on over this journey. Now I have no idea what you look like or what struggles you have with diet, so I honestly speak for myself. But biologically our body is always in survival mode and wants to cling on to as much fat as possible. So often when people drop their cals over a long period of time and not, say, within a series of weeks where there is progression and only for a limited number of planned weeks, they end up “losing weight” but what they lose is lean muscle mass, not body fat, and when they start eating for real again, it all comes back. Skinny fat is such an accurate term for many women. Eating more will not only make you more powerful in the gym, but it will rev up your metabolism, help balance your hormone levels, and be for more effective in dropping BF. And after a period of time of CONSISTENT (consistency is THE MOST IMPORTANT factor to all of this) clean and balanced eating, you will start to get hungrier on higher kcals…and eating more is good! No offense taken, I spend 6 days a week rolling around on the ground with sweaty boys, it takes a lot more to offend me. It’s all stuff I know, it’s just that gap between know and doing is hard to close. I’m working on it, I’m a slow mover though. BJJ is the lazy man’s Martial Art.

I didn’t eat nearly enough yesterday, I thought I’d be home in the evening, but nope.

.5 C oatmeal
tons of coffee
A serving of vegan general Tso’s from whole foods
2 apples
A can of black beans, with cheese and salsa on top
A Monster
a few oz of chocolate

I need to find a sweet something I enjoy, and moderate the caffinne a little better. The things you don’t realize when you don’t note what you eat!

Oh, I rolled Sunday and yesterday. I’ll update about class later.

Sunday I got to drill with a girl! She’s only been to a few classes, but I really enjoy drilling and rolling with her. Once that floppy girlness is gone, she’ll be awesome, hopefully she’ll stick around. We went over defending the stack pass when you’re early, catch the wrists and pummel your legs. Then when it’s a little later we did the Brazilian Legs. When the stack pass gets really late, we opened up the elbow then shrimped out back into closed guard. During this move I need to remember to keep my top leg active against them, when I don’t they just put their body weight on me and thread pass.

Then we rolled. She knows a few things, so rolled easy and let her work them. When I first started my rolling partners let me build my confidence on things we just learned, so I try to do that for others. After a little while though, I started thinking about increasing the pressure, pushing the pace and finishing. It was really hard! I’ve gotten so used to going easy with new white belts that I have trouble actually going hard with them. They do odd things, non BJJ things. I can’t bow choke someone when they don’t get to their side and try to escape mount. So, something more to work on, going harder on white belts. I know who can take it and who can’t. It’ll help me build my confidence in finishing and they’ll improve escapes.

worrying about calories only stresses me out…

I lost 60lbs without hardly tracking and counting, etc…making better choices, being consistent and NO CHEATING is what got me results…consistently not cheating is the hard part

my healthy sweet thang is hazelnut butter. A couple tbs a week and I’m set. It kinda reminds me of the nutella crap I ate as a kid only way healthier. go for the organic non salted non sweetened.

I have no advice to impart, seeing as I’m a “bad girl” too: not eating a whole lot, sometimes cheating spectacularly, never losing weight. It’s all a big fucking mystery to me.

But I have learned from reading around that 1300 calories is unusually low for women who train. Even on FA. Most people who are cutting don’t actually eat that little. Look at your calculations: you’d be eating less than your BMR!

Reading about bjj looks exciting. Sometimes I flirt with the idea of learning martial arts.

Hey pch2! Just caught up on your log. It’s so cool reading about your BJJ training - martial arts are awesome! I look forward to reading more about it!

It’s two o’clock in the morning, and no one is awake for me to call and cry too, so I’m just going to over share with you guys. Commence train wreck.

I’m going to have to stick with my ultimatum. He hasn’t been making an effort, there are occasional glimmers, but it’s not enough. I’m going to have to walk away, and I’m really afraid that he’s not going to follow. I’ve been going in baby steps, and he hasn’t even noticed. I’ve told him clearly that he needs to make an effort, actually plan things, but he hasn’t bothered. I don’t know why.

I have a lot of trouble believing he just doesn’t care, but his actions are screaming that he doesn’t. It just sucks to think that I could be so wrong. Why wouldn’t he care enough to try?

Actually relevant information: I sucked at rolling today, and ate crappy.

Wow, that’s tough. Once you give an ultimatum, you have to stick to it it because he will never respect you(if he ever did). This is the worse part for you, things will get better. Don’t be afraid to stick up for yourself and get what you deserve! (:

Well said Tootles. Do it for yourself Pch, you will be happy you did in the long run.

So, the boy food problem has resolved itself.

The other main issue is not planning and then ending up having to scrounge around. So, I’ve been cooking today. I’m going to have to come up with an easy way to keep track of recipes, but for now here will work. I tend to just list ingredients, how to put them together is easy to remember. I should have taken pictures before everything was put away, but oh well. I have been thinking about switching to glass containers rather than plastic, what do you guys tote your food around in?

Off to do a bit more cooking.

Yay for cooking! That crustless quiche sounds very yummy.

I used to use plastic containers, but recently switched to glass. Way better for reheating the food, and I feel like they get cleaned better too.

I usually stick some cottage cheese in the Quiche, it adds a texture I like and protein, but I’m trying the whole staying away from dairy thing.

Do you have a specific brand of glassware? Is it heavy?

I bought a brand called “Anchor”. The pic is a 2-cup container. It’s certainly heavier than plastic, but it’s not bad at all.

I just made Shugart’s half cal granola Strength Training, Bodybuilding & Online Supplement Store - T NATION I make some adjustments, so mine has P/C/F/Cal 10/61.1/18.5/359.7 per cup. I’m going to have some with the last of my yogurt. Which means my dairy free exp starts tomorrow. The goal is dairy free for the rest of the month.

I’ll stay tuned - curious to read about your progress. I hear glass is better than plastic on the body. Plastic transpires a ton of crap to the food. My travel food is a shaker cup with pp, water in my stainless bottle and a bag of nuts. I can usually eat it in the car driving. I used to make a breakfast omelet using eggwhites, oates and blueberries which I cut into squares and would even eat cold as a quick meal.

GL with the no dairy thing…

is it because you think you were eating too much? or just to see what happens?

I’ve got a bad cheese habit, and to see what happens.
