P- I saw you were ‘dieting.’ How are you going about that? Just cleaning stuff up?[/quote]

Oh, I missed this.

Hmm, let’s not actually call it dieting at this point. I’m finding that the baby steps approach is really working this go around. So, I’m just going to track for a while. DJS pointed me towards myfitnesspal, and it’s actually pretty awesome. Sometimes just logging is enough to make the initial change. Once I feel like I need to do more, I’ll start playing with macros and such. I’m taking the gradual incline approach.

They say brown kids don’t tan. Walked home from the gym, so like 20 min of sun, and I’m at least 2 shades darker. (I don’t think I’m actually that asymmetrical, I just don’t have camera skills)

Friday PM
I promised it would only take an hour, so a short one. Yet, still awesome.

Squat
BWx5 45x5 85x2x5 95x5 105x5!

Farmer’s walk with 35s around the track, don’t know how long this is, not long.
Then I just held a 35 on one side and did a lap for each side, this is way harder than 2 35s!

nice squating and hellz no on the man shoulders.

No man’s shoulders.

Definitely a beautiful pic.

Yep what Busy and Frenchie said not seeing the man shoulder thing.

Thanks guys. I think I just need to put a cap on the complaining for a while. Tomorrow’s the 1st, I’ll keep the girl crazy in for the month, then take new pics and see how I feel.

Sat AM
Yoga
There was a sub, and I did not like her. I don’t do well with do as I say not as I do sorts of teachers. In any subject. If you want me to do this, you need to first show me it’s possible. She had us in Warrior 2 for 10min each side. Today my ankle is complaining. All she did was wander around the room talking about wind, and peace and air. Next time I’ll skip her class.

Ankle complaining lead to and eh sort of lifting session.

DL
135x5 155x5 165x3x5
I had to do a lot of ankle stuffs between everything, not happy.

Bench
Barx5 65x5 80x3x5
I dropped down to 80, but I was able too do them all with out help, so I’m ok with that.

Walked home.

had a yoga class for the first time in ages and had issues with

A- going from cobra straight to downward dog. I had to shuffle my feet a bit

B - the crow -like wtf is that for?

c- some instability in the tree pose but managed to hold it.

what I like and will transfer to lifting: the importance of belly breathing and keeping “the knot” or lower abs tight and pulled in.

If we’re just going through sun salutations I’m fine, but if we have to hold downward dog for any sort of time I end up shuffling my hands a bit. Just before the transition, bring your hands closer to you and it takes the place of feet shuffling.

I can only stay up for a few seconds, but I think it’s supposed to help with the eventual handstand.

Where are you putting your foot for tree? I keep mine on my calf. When I go to thigh, I tend to just my hip out and a mess ensues. It’s a post I like though, she has us sway in the wind a little. It’s very little kid reminiscent for me.

Yeah, it actually took me a while to get that balance is actually all about the abs. It’s cool that you went, we can commiserate.

i can commiserate from memory… actually… i don’t miss it. tree pose was just a joke for me. i ended up planting myself right by the wall so i could tap it at opportune times so i didn’t fall (very often). i think we only had to hold warrior II for about 30 seconds and that was brutal enough for me. i find that is the quickest thing that detrains when i don’t attend. i don’t train muscular endurance at all. all about power, i am

i’m sorry but a lake is not a beach. not when you are from an island, anyway :-p

sorry your ankle messed up your training a bit.

PS i don’t see man shoulders, either.

not menz shldrs…

wimmenz shldrs.

tru~

want I should rub them fer ya?

So, if my eventual body weight will be around 140, what would good goals for bench, dl and squat be? I’m not looking for PL numbers, but what someone who says they lift should be able to do.

nice deadlifts.

the lake beaches can be nice- but I miss the

I am not a beach person - but if I dont see water or cross over
water like everyday- I feel ill.

Boo on bad yoga teachers. Yeah some yoga moves I just don’t see the point. I do yoga but only if the poses are going to help me do something else or to relax. I do like the tree pose for opening up my hips though. Poor ankle.

Crow = balance, core strength, wrist strength and good prep for other balances including the handstand. Not advisable to try when drunk. Can result in a faceplant of epic proportions.

I am ambivalent about yoga. I like the sun salutations but I find all the sitting and breathing through one nostril stuff fucking tedious. If I want to relax, meditate and breathe I’ll go for a walk somewhere green. I have gone to yoga to improve my mobility but there’s too much emphasis on the breathing stuff and on backbends at the gym I go to. (I realise I could find a more suitable yoga class somewhere else, but the classes at my gym are included in my membership and I don’t really care enough about yoga to pay extra to go somewhere else).

I do like the tree pose for opening up my hips though.

yeah. i like a lot of the standing balance stuff - can tell that it really would feel amazing if i could bloody well do it. frustrating, though, because i can’t quite pull it off and holding onto something doesn’t allow you to activate the way things are supposed to.

actually… i’ll put that shit back in my recovery day. it is kinda fun… and i need to work my hip mobility some more.

i’ve found a few different strength standards things… they seem to vary a lot. that one went nice on military press, i think. or maybe that really is my best lift progress wise. hmm.

Yeah, I’m not one to be still for any period of time. I wiggle a lot during yoga, which is why I like classes that flow between a lot of positions.

Are you trying to tell me that picture doesn’t look like a beach. We have a lighthouse for god’s sake!

Growing up with the great lakes has made it odd to not be around water for me too. It’s just so pretty. Went for another walk on sat, and the water temp was just lovely.
