Shrimp!
seriously those moves look deceptively simple and yet I bet if I tried I’d end up like a pretzel.

You guys would get the shrimping down fine. It’s just scooting your butt around without scooting shoulders.

The ankle is ok. My ROM sucks. My Achilles is really tight, hence the ankle rehab stuffs. My toes do look like little sausages today since I jammed them.

Thanks for stopping by!

Instead of BJJ today I went to Zumba! It was really fun. I went to a Friday night class so it was mostly older women, but that kinda made it more comfortable since I am not at all coordinated. I felt ridiculous, but it was enjoyable. The class was a lot of mobility stuff, I think Ill try to go every once in a while.

Oh, I did my ankle rehabby stuff pre Zumba

Post Zumba

A1) Push Ups 7x5
A2) what do we call krocs w/o the ‘body english’? 30x5 35x5 40x5 45x5x5

Step Ups I alternated legs each time 18x12 35x12 45 5x12

I’m kinda enjoying this whole just go and do random stuff thing. Push some thing, pull something, do something leggy.

Zumba - interesting! I always enjoyed dance type workouts, the music and the energy make for a fun atmosphere. Lightens the mood a bit anyway.

Glad you’re back training!!! Zumba sounds interesting…I wonder if it would be worth it to join a commercial gym…

Thanks, it was fun but I wouldn’t join a commercial gym for it. It was dancing to an actual beat, but all the movements can be found in MM and by being on top. Both of which Hungry can help you with free of charge

Though, a lot of gyms let you try them out for a week for free. You could do that.

That’s exactly why I did it. Sometimes you need to be in a testosterone free room. Zumba may be the opposite of bjj.

Lol! I can understand that. That’s why I love playing soccer in the women’s league, altho I often wonder if half those girls are raging with T…

The other day in the weight room I got on a bench just as this big guy was stepping up to it and I said “oh, i’m sorry, did you want the bench?” And he said “nah, that’s ok, if you were a dude I’d tell you to fuck off” so I said, “well you can tell me to fuck off if you want” to which he replied as if completely insulted, “i’d never say that to a girl!” Lol! what a gentleman.

Hi! Glad you’re back!

I think the Krocs minus the body english would be dumbell rows?

I’m all about men being gentlemen. Men are so agressive and weird towards each other, I wouldn’t want to be caught in that  though, women interacting is a similar story. Though I was rolling the other day with one of the other blue belts. And granted he’s better than me, but he was giving me everything. It was really frustrating. He’d just lay there, so finally I was like ‘if it’s that easy I don’t want it’. His response was ‘I’m just being a gentleman’.

I don’t need guys to be gentlemen on the mats, so I’m just going to have to remember to roll with him on lazy days. When you really want to roll, its really frustrating to meet no resistance.

Do you guys eat whole eggs, or just egg whites? What’d you do with yellows if you don’t use them?

whole eggs for the win - there’s a whole bunch of good vitamins and minerals in the yolk. Plus they are yummy. If you want to balance things out buy egg white cartons and add a whole egg to it.

Yeah, that’s what I think I’ll go back to. I was trying to get away from the extra packaging of egg white cartons but I think it’s worth not throwing away lots of yellows.

Try dragging your forearm across their face. That’ll pretty much end the pleasantries

Bjj

I couldn’t figure out how to comfortablely tape up the toes and the ankle. It’s like my right leg below the knee is dead weight. Anyway, I just immobilized the whole thing.

I kinda managed the backwards crawl. It’s getting slightly easier to think about. I think most of my trouble is coming from weak pushing muscles. There’s a point where you’re supporting most of your weight on one arm, and that’s what’s giving me trouble. I can’t figure out the frame that would make it easier, which makes me think it’s strength based. While bjj in general isn’t strength based, some of the warm ups and accessory movements are. At least the push ups are for something.

In class we went over what to do if they defend passes. If they defend a knee drive with putting a foot on your hip, curl around their leg for a knee bar. If they defend the stack by making their legs heavy, push down on one knee with your left hand, put your right hand on the ground and your shoulder on their torso. Then hand stand over to their side. I’ll see if I can find a video later. An alternative way to deal with heavy legs was the wrestler sit threw. I’m not a wrestler so this hasn’t been pounded into my muscle memory. Which made it awkward for me. Unlike a lot of the odd stuff wrestlers do, I see the merit in this, so one more move to add to the drill list.

My foot was annoying so I didn’t roll. I felt a bit like a pussy, but I’ll do some cardio tmrw at the gym where no ones trying to rip off my leg.

Lol, actually it didn’t. I’ve been playing with head control a lot lately. If you can control the way the head moves, most of the time you can control the way the body moves. Since keeping mount had been such a fail the day before, I was really enthusiastic about keeping mount with him. The best way to prevent the elbow escape is to keep them from curling their spine. The best way to keep them from curling their spine is to put their face between your forearm and bicep and then push in the direction opposite of which they want to go. So, there was a lot of face smashing initially. Then I realized he wasn’t really defending and it felt like kicking puppies. There are some guys that just will not hurt a female under any circumstance. Stepping on their faces isn’t going to change that, and I don’t know that I’d want to anyway. I just hand realized he was one of those guys. He’ll be a good easy roll, drill with guy.

I get it. I don’t hit/spar/roll with females. But there’s no point in doing it at all if that’s the way it’s going to be. But then again I’m either all fun and laughing or fight fight kill kill. My light is either on or it isn’t. There is no dimmer switch.
