Tall Thin Lifters?

I am 6 ft 4 in and 192 pounds, with small forearms, calves and neck but fairly broad shoulders and upper back. Allthough slim, I’ve never been weak, except in the squat and bench, squat being by far the worst. In the Deadlift and pulling movements I’ve always been better than everybody I train with and for some reason I’m really strong in isolation movements even with fairly small limbs. I’ve enjoyed articles here as “why lurch won’t grow” and “bringing up lousy leverages”, but I’m wondering if there’s anything written by and for tall thin lifters. A lot of Poliquin and Thib’s programs seem to be designed for people with totally different mechanics and muscle fiber make up so they don’t really work for me.

I’d like to bring up overall strength, especially in weak areas, and add about an inch to each my limbs. Ideal weight would be 210 (which would sould ridiculus for some people here considering my height but is a good matchweight for me as I’m quite physically active aside from the gym)

I’m 6’ 4’ 265 lbs, started out at 145 lbs.

The basics aren’t any different for tall people. Eat a lot of food, be consistent about lifting, wait a few years.

To get better at squatting, squat more.

To develop your bench, bench more.

And always, always, make sure you’re eating enough.

I’m lanky too, so I can relate. However, I think the main reason why “Lurch won’t grow” is that he is not eating enough. It takes a significant amount of weight gain to produce notiecable results on a tall guy.

So, lift like anyone else and eat enough to gain around a pound a week. In six months you will have made good progress.

All good advice.

Watch out for the adipose though, it WILL sneak up on you, while you put on lean mass.

Throw in some Burpees 3 or 4 times/week, or some Tabata.
