FTG, what part of VA do you live in?? I’m going to be putting on a bench meet here in a couple months. I’ll be doing a bench seminar beforehand to make sure everyone at my gym is on the same page form wise. you are more than welcome to come. i could check out your form and give you a couple pointers. I’m in Richmond. Are stiletto’s required?

To complicate the issue, I lift in my garage. I have two olympic bars and 700# of plates, and no DB’s. No machines. In addition to pullups, I’ve started doing T-bar rows (no T, just grabbing the end of the bar) and I’m going to continue rowing what I bench with the same grip. Any other BBell exercises for the equipment impaired?[/quote]

you are in the same situation i am in, 6’ 4’’ 300x2 bench, train at home 3x a week with just barbells, heres my bench days

Me bench
HEavy ass Rows

pullups
skullcrushers

i can’t give away my training secrets.

6-7 310. my best bench in the gym is 350 when i was 280. Ive been working around a nagging shoulder injury so I havem’t benched in about 2 months. In the meantime I’ve been hammering the shit out of my back, hitting it 2x’s a week. I believe that the carryover to the bench will be huge. pulldowns, front and back, db rows, seated cg rows have all been part of the routine.

as far as grip, I switched from ring finger on the rings to the max wide, forefinger on the rings. that and really trying to work on an arch and leg drive has made a big difference, and I feel much more stable. our height, we need to limit the range of motion as much as possible. that being said, I've heard of guys who bench CG during training to save their shoulders, but go max wide on meets. maybe one of the more experienced powerlifters can shed some light?

My friend is 6’ 6" and has benched 385 lbs raw (gym lift), which is pretty solid given that he was only 230-235 lbs at the time.

He lines up ring up in between his ring and middle fingers, so it’s fairly narrow given his arm length. He can bench similar weight with a very wide grip… his elbows still have a tendency to flare even with the narrower grip.

so maraudermeat is Richmond the right answer? I’m afraid I wouldn’t look good in heels–I have spider veins.
