Talking To A Pro BB

This sort of thing is a little sad on a site that I looked up to so many people when I first started lurking. There are still some around but the vast majority of good people seemed to have moved on or don’t post anymore.

This is what we get for “harboring the wretched newbies”.

Hopefully theyre not planning on installing a teen sectin anytime soon. Geez.

maybe the answer to this type of shit IS to have a teen section?

So you are a registered member at a website with thousands of training articles and bought into this guy’s bs? In addition, you felt the need to come on here where each of his claims has been disproven, not do a search about it, and ask if he has any merit because he is jacked and tan? You are an idiot. Do his super-triple-dropset-to-fatigue-without-eating-enough-as-long-as-you-get-potassium program. Im sure you’ll get uuuuuuuuuuuuje.[/quote]

I searched on this website for about a year before I registered. I seen a few articles about some of the stuff, but I will agree alot has been disproven, He trained back in the 80s and 90s when not all of this stuff was well known. I don’t really eat that much, maybe 4 or 5 meals a day and I went from 155 to 165 in a month. I haven’t gotten fatter, just more lean muscle.

All of my lifts have went up atleast 10 pounds, and I dont do the dropset on every lift, just bench, and that has had the most gain. Its not making much sense to me that I have added 45 pounds to my bench and not added that to my legs. Seems to me the dropset has some truth in it. But it could partly be genetics, I have been told I have good genes. My dad was a star football player back in his day, same with my mom.

We’ve got a beginner’s section. It’s a shame this latest piece of crap wasn’t in it. What is most shocking is that some people on here are actually taking this guy seriously! Fuck it we need Prof X back to eat all these n00bs.

No. We need Professor X back to inspire the newcomers. Lots of posters came around to his philosophy of “just keep growing as much as you can.” That was a lot better for the site than just “eat[ing] these n00bs.” He didn’t want people to disappear from the site; he wanted them to adopt an attitude that he considered more hardcore.

He constantly talked about learning from bigger and more experienced lifters and adopting what ideas of theirs seemed to work for you. Although he would no doubt try to set the OP straight on some of what he was told by the BBer, X would understand someone who listened to a big guy and then asked on a BB forum for more input.

X was not the one-trick pony you paint him to be.

I’m not painting him to be anything. It was a joke. Not hilarious perhaps, but a joke nonetheless. My point is that maybe if the forum still had more posters like X some of these guys might do a bit of actual research (you know, use the search engine) before spouting this total pile of wank.

There are still some great guys here, but it’s just a shame the way things are going.

Anyway, they’d still be safe in the beginner’s section. That’s fair enough.

If nobody replied to threads they thought were bullshit (don’t want to get into if this one is or isn’t), then they would quickly fade away. Every time someone posts a rant as a reply to a thread they don’t like/irritates them, it gets put back up at the top of the forum. More people see it, there’s one more reply to wonder what could be going on in the thread. More attention.

Don’t you guys see? You’re feeding it  And yes, I see the irony in posting this…

Both your mom and your dad were star football players? Damn, I bet you’re whole family is super wealthy, insanely good-looking, and have self-cleaning teeth. Must be nice.

Sarcasm aside, this guy you’ve been talking to might be what he says he is, or he might not. If you haven’t already, and I haven’t gone back to read every post, you should let us know his full name so we can check his history in pro BB.

I think the general point that people are trying to get across is this: what works for him might not work for you. Not everyone who is good at a particular task could teach the subject to another. Don’t discount what the authors here at T-Nation have written, and don’t be afraid to challenge this guy’s advice.

Well when i said star football player, I meant highschool and some college until he tore his ACL. I meant my mom was a good athlete not a football player, funny. I dont know his last name, but his first name is Billy, check back in the early 90s or late 80s if you search. Like the one guy said its feeding it, so I dont think im going to post any more on this thread…

I don’t see what the controversy is here.

We all know that everything works, for a while.

Cody, (I really hope you’re NOT a PT). If it works for you, do it. But I guarantee that you won’t be able to train like that for 2 months+ and make steady gains.

But everything works. Some work in the long run, better than others, but everything works.
