Taking my time and losing my mind...

Pete,

I think I will avoid “diets” for awhile, maybe I will just eat stuff that I have to prepare rather than pre-made snscks. Than,ks for the info though.

2/9/12

Leg Day- 6 weeks away from the contest, decided to road test strength levels (in other words do some singles to around 550-600 or less and avoid sweating and assistance work)

Squat- 135x5, 225x3, 275x2, 315x1, 365x1, put on belt 405x1, 455x1, 495x1, 545x1 (shallow I think) 565x1 (slow but not an on purpose slow)

Deadlift-225x2, 315x2, 365x2, 405x1, 455x1, 495x1, 515x1, 545x1, 565x1 (could have done maybe 20 lbs more, maybe)

Left forearm hurt when I got home, I turn my left arm like a bicep curl on deads, it’s not changing color or swollen so I guess I am lucky but it still hurts so that sucks. The bright side is that I feel right on target for the meet and my goals of 615/455/640 look almost doable (again almost)

2/16/12

Took a week off to heal up, eat and be a slob it took everything in my power to go to the gym today. I decided to do a WNPF meet in April instead of a 100% Raw meet in March because I really do like wraps on my knees when I squat and I did this same meet last year (so I know where it is). I am doing an actual 9 week plan to get ready for a meet in 10 weeks.

Squat (6x2@80%)- w/ups- 485x2x2x2x2x2x2 (easy enough all things considered)
Bench (5x3@80%)- w/ups- 365x3x3x3x3x3
Deads (5x2@80%)- w/ups)-505x2x2x2x2x2 (looks easier than it feels)

Now assistance (seemed like a bad idea) only assistance for one exercise per workout high rep stuff
OHP-w/ups- 185x12,11,7
Dips-x23,20,20
Push-Ups- 41,18,22

I am tired, the bodyweight stuff made me feel like I was back in the Army (only much older and 100 lbs heavier). I also realized I am supposed to be doing 80% of my actual max, not my projected max so next wor, kout should be easier for me, provided I actually recover from this one. I still have 1700 as my goal but right now I can’t actually get out of my chair so who knows…

Hi.

The first part of your thread title “Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life son.” Supernatural?

Or did they steal it from somewhere else?

Anyways it was bothering me for awhile trying to figure out where I’d heard it before.

You did all that in one day? Crazy! 0_0

Strong stuff though.

Strong lifting Brian. Good luck with the meet.

Charlie, I think the log title comes from Animal House.

Yep, I just googled it, I guess Supernatural borrowed it. I thought it was familiar when I heard it in the show too. That’s probably why. ha ha

Thanks

Brian, your log impresses and kills me, dude. I <3 geared powerlifters. Hilarity and teh big waitz always ensues.

Good luck at the meet, man.

Frozen,

Why thank you very much, positive feedback is always a pleasant surprise.

Yukkarn,

Thank you as well, training for a meet is hard because I am so lazy, I need some external accountability (which is where fine people like yourself come in) to make sure I follow through so I appreciate your comments.

2/20/12

Presidents Day?
Squat 200x5, 250x5, 300x5, 345x5, 400x5

Bench 165x5, 205x5, 245x5, 285x5, 330x5

Row	125x5, 165x5, 185x5, 225x5, 250x5

    Abs 35, 35, 28

    Hypers 45x 20, 20, 20

    Curls 70's x 15, 12, 12

A nice relaxing Federal Holiday workout.

That is some fine squatting.

Joe,

Thanks, but of course now my ass hurts. I may be the only person that always gets DOMS when I squat or deadlift, the weight doesn’t matter I just get sore regardless.

2/21

Walk- 7.5 minutes as fast and far as I could through my neighborhood, then 7.5 minutes on same route back finished about 500 feet from my house. The goal is to increase the distance and leave the time the same until I can’t go faster then increase the time. Since I am physically unable to run this is as dangerous as it gets cardio-wise for me.

Jumps- 18" box- 20 jumps 2min rest 20 jumps 4 min rest 20 jumps

Abs- planks, resistance band sit ups, crunches etc.

I think I need to get in shape.

fat drunk and stupid is the best way to go through life

just sayin

MJ,

You may be right, although I would like to try an alternative sometime, just to be “scientific”.

2/22/12

Bench- 280 x8 (70% of 90%)
WIIIIIde Bench- 240x10x10
Close Grip Bench- 225x10x10
Dips- 24,20,20
Curls- 70’s x12x14x12

Coaching tonight- 4th grade girls bball, I realized I need new sweatpants when I was called Mr. Underpants by the team, I apparently have a large hole in the ass of my sweats, luckily I stopped going commando after I left the Army or my nickname would be something like “Mr. level 3 offender”. I may have embarrassed (ha! bare-assed) my daughter so much that she never talks to me again. Parenting is very easy for people on TV.

MJ might be on to something. nice traiing, although not sure of percentages… math aint my strong point.

Pete,

i’m sure he is, I spent the weekend being stupid and fat and I feel awesome today.

2/24/12
Squats- 315x3, 365x3, 405x9
Front Squats- 225x5, 275x5x5
Leg Press- x10x10x10
18" Box Jumps- x20x20

2/27/12
OHP- 135x3, 185x3, 205x8
Front Raises- 40’s x10x10x10
Dbell Military- 60’s x12, 80’s x8x6
Red Band Pull Aparts- 4 sets 120 reps

2/28/12
Deads- 385x3, 435x3, 475x9 (this is probably a PR due to me never wanting to do this many reps+ it was hard)
Good Mornings- 225x10x10x10
Barbell Rows- 245x5x5x5
Curls- 65’s x8x8
Abs- 15,15

Done all caught up now, I was super excited about my deadlifts tonight but who knows how I will feel tomorrow. Decided to do bench only raw meet 3/24 or 3/22 I forget, and then do full meet at the end of April, My goal is to not bomb out of either and still hit a nice total ( I set the bar low to keep expectations in line)

MY ASS HURTS.

I went to yoga this AM at the commercial gym I maintain an emergency membership at, this was not the greatest idea I have ever had by the way, I foolishly assumed that it would be relaxing and meditative and shockingly it was neither, it was instead horrible and very difficult. I was the only man which was a plus from a purely scenery based perspective, but I have the flexibility of a board and the instructor had to keep helping me do the most basic things, the women were none too happy about that. I will definitely go back since it is probably a good thing for me to be at least a little mobile. I might buy some spandex and leg warmers.

They might have a beginers yoga class which would help you learn the basics. I used to do hot yoga(in a room temp of 102) and the little instructor would start everything with “Those of you who are more heavily muscled might have more trouble with this”

One the one hand it was annoying since I was the only person there who weighed over 150lbs but on the other hand I felt like the Hulk and kept wanting to say “Hulk not bend like that,”
