I will be squatting in a Metal squatter on Tuesday, I put it on and wore it around my house for 2 hours yesterday after I got home, mainly because once it was on I couldn’t get it off, I ate a bowl of Corn pops and answered the door in it, my wife hates me.[/quote]
This may well be the funniest thing I have read on T-MAG…
Thank you for laughing at my pain. I am sure my wife will probably use that story when she files for divorce.
KP,
I am more of a floater than a swimmer, I am very proud of what whales accomplish being so big and so mobile, I swim because I am unable to run and it seems to make my joints feel awesome for a little while.
As far as the VA, I have been a patient there for a number of surgeries suffered in my youth in the Army, I am actually retired from the VA as an employee (rehab counselor) and my father (a 22 year veteran of the USMC) is currently a resident there recovering from being really old. I spend a lot of time on the 8th floor (nursing home) talking with the old men living up there (like my father) and feeling rather physically fit in comparison, so yes I volunteer but only because it makes me feel so awesome about myself.
While I have not posted since 11/12/11, rest assured I have been lifting, a lot, quite often and using an approach that is destined to cause me long term harm. I haven’t been posting because I got a new 'puter and just couldn’t find the time to set everything up, until today. I have been following a whole body wave type approach, similar to one I was using when I started on this site, I hit everything 3-5 times per week, the workouts take about an hour (I stop at 60 minutes no matter what), some days I start with legs, others with upper body, sometimes the reps are high (10+), sometimes they are low (1-3), intensity varies based on feel, exercises change every day etc. It’s a blast, I’m sore and hungry all the time so I have an excuse to eat and sleep as much as I want (and I love doing both). Rather than post all my workouts from the past 2 weeks I will start fresh tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving.
Today was interesting, decided to do short rests (45-60 seconds) and see how that went, the goal was 1 hour, 30 sets 60 reps, I sort of needed to lump a few together because of time constraints.
Bench (all pause)- warm ups then - 315x2x2x2x2x2x2x8 (needed to pick up the pace)
Squat- warm ups then - 315x2x2x2x2x2x6x4
Deads- 315x2x2x2x2x2x2x2x6
Despite the relatively low % the short rest kicked my ass. I am now officially exhausted.
It’s been awhile on snatches and I have a seriously hard time getting low for the catch, any tips from anyone, it seems like a mental block since I get much lower for squats than I do when trying to get under the weight for snatches, right now with this weight it’s no big deal, but as the bar speed slows down and the weights go up, I doubt I will be able to get away with as much.

At what point do you start to drop under the bar? Back when I used to do Oly lifting, I always found it hard to find the right rhythm to drop at the same time as pulling up.
I am dropping under it on the way up I think, I will video the next session (probably wednesday) so I can get some feedback on where my problem is. The snatch is a bad idea for fat, clumsy people like myself, but I would like to get proficient at it.

This gave me a tremendous chuckle. What I meant was where exactly was the bar before you tried to drop under? From the moment of the pull? At knee level? At waist height? I’m trying to remember how I did these back in the day. It’s obvious I’m not an Oly expert!
I guess it’s about shoulder height when I try to drop under it, but honestly the whole thing happens so fast I lack the quickness to get down much sooner, plus I’m already sort of low when it reaches my shoulders.
11/30
Deadlifts- w/ups- 315x4 (sumo, all the rest conventional), 365x4, 405x4, 425x5, 445x4
I had planned on a nice workout today but that plan has been torpedoed. My daughter is sick so in a show of support I slept on the floor in her room (I assume this is so she doesn’t throw up on the carpet, I am a large target) . They should show this in 7th grade health class, the species would die out.
I woke up this morning feeling like I had been murdered and since I was on the floor the dog had decided to sleep with her ass a mere 3 inches from my face (this would explain some of the “stuck in a diaper pail” dreams I had last night). I can only assume that today is just going to be recovery from the physical and emotional trauma of a night on the floor. So today looks like this

Your posts are such a treat. Always make me smile.

Can’t offer any advice on the snatches I’m afraid. I really enjoy doing them, but they just frustrate the hell out of me. The more I analyse them the worse they get.
Waking up in the morning next to a dog is never nice. Don’t drink so much.
