T-Shirt Off

I have several tops that get comments:

Boys Are Dumb (black tank) - I get the “What if I wore a “Girls Are Dumb” shirt?” To which I answer “They are!” The most common reply people get though is “Men realize boys are dumb. Boys don’t”.

I won’t lower my standards to raise your’s (tight off-the-shoulder lavender T): Mainly get nasty looks from nerdy types.

Rookie (tight baby blue T): “Rookie, eh? I’ll teach you a thing or two.” Looks and comments might have something to do with there being large double zeros across my tits…

Coach (tight pink sleeveless T): “I’ll let you be my coach!” OR “What sport?”

I used to have a Testosterone T-shirt but it’s disappeared…

Too bad T-Mag doesn’t make girls string tanks… Or black, wet-look fabric thongs with the “T” symbol dangling just above the glutes…
Well it’s Friday afternoon in the summer. Biotest product development may be working on this right now!

Perhaps you know… an example to help with the visualization process?

I personally would never wear a shirt like that. People stare enough as it is if you have any above average amount of size on you. The average person is completely in the dark about their own hormones which makes me laugh when people try to debate about what the “majority” wants in this country in terms of laws and restrictions. For any teacher to request that you take a shirt off for having the name of a hormone on it shows how much ignorance is truly out there. Would she be offended if it read “ESTROGEN”? How about “INSULIN”?

I just don’t need the extra attention. It really makes me wonder why some of you act as if wearing it is such a big deal. Does this mean people don’t approach you about your muscles or training unless the shirt is on? I could see how it could be a conversation piece, but is anyone really wearing it for validation?
I agree with you on almost everything (as usual). Although, isn’t injecting Testosterone illegal? I think (if I wanted to) I could inject Estrogen and Insulin legally. LOL. In other words, it could be almost as bad as wearing a shirt that said “Cocaine” or “Marijuana” on it (in certain eyes). I personally don’t think it’s that big of a deal, but, like you said, it’ll draw attention.

I gave a presentation in front of a thousand people in my TESTOSTERONE shirt. I presented at SIGGRAPH, the largest computer graphics conference (which this year had only 29,000 people in attendence).

I don’t think anyone had any idea what the shirt represents, but I had both positive and negative feedback. Sure it might not have been the most professional shirt I could have worn, but I bet more people remembered/recognized me because of it.

Consequently, most of the negative feedback was from professors in my group at Davis, but it was more like they were shocked than really upset ;)
Funny. I was at SIGGRAPH. I didn’t attend your presentation, but I wish I had, so that I could tell you at least one person there knew what it meant =)

I get all of the same comments whenever I wear my Testosterone T-shirt out. For the most part, when I’m asked about it, I explain a little. But there are times when I just laugh and let them live in their own ignorance (hell, they built the damn glass house).

On a related note, it’s down right scary how ‘good’ people are getting at making this world an uber-PC-tickle-fight.

Oh wait, I’m sure they’d object to the word ‘fight’, huh?

Some (too many) peoples’ kids. . .

I would really like “T”-shirt but they don’t send it to Croatia… Someone interested in shipping here. I’ll pay him offcouse…!
Professor X wrote:

I certainly hope not.

I agree that wearing it (or anything) simply to feel validated is lame, but I don’t think anyone here mentioned that as a motive.

I think we, at least myself, wear it to support the site and everything it represents. My objective certainly isn’t to say, “hey look at me, I have muscle and this shirt proves it”. I let my body and hard work do that talking.

Not to hijack, but has anyone ever gotten any stronger reactions to a t-shirt besides their Testosterone shirt?

Had a Robert Earl Keen “Sonnys going to the Chair” t-shirt that really messed with people. Image looked like a newspaper with a large picture of an electric chair and the lyrics to "The Road Goes on Forever " on it. Got a lot of attention with that one.
Well, if Eastbay wasn’t such a blowhard, I’d have an Eagles jersey with the name “Terrible Owens” on the back. But the cheapskates limit you to only 10 letters.

I don’t really have that many oddball t-shirts. . . yet.

I have a shirt that says “Jesus did it for the chicks” and my personal favorite “I like my women like I like my coffee, ground up and in the freezer”. There was also an “Abortions Tickel” but that was a little too offensive and caused far to many problems to be worn. Never had any comments at all about the Testosterone shirt though.

When I worked out of Gold’s Gym, the She-Bitch owner (50+y/o, boob-job, facelift, tummytuck etc., etc.) HATED my shirt. Total “men suck, women rule” feminist a-hole.

So I cut the sleeves off it and wore it twice as often! She had some moronic, uninformed comment each time she saw it on me.

Testosterone = BAD. Multiple (obvious) plastic surgeries… THAT’S ok???

I told her I’d get her a shirt that read “PROGESTERONE” that matched mine…

I recently opened my own facility!
Sorry for the hijack, but WHERE?

Sorry, this is such a rant. Skip this post if you dont want to read someone’s bitching. But the subject was brought up and I just HAVE TO comment. Whoo the t-shirt issue has me hot under the collar…and this happened in the United States where we have the constitutional right to freedom of speech, and our young men and women are dying and getting hurt in Iraq to ultimately protect our Constitutional freedoms!

1st of all, I do STRONGLY feel that the original poster’s school staff who approached him really were very inappropriate and entirely improfessional. If you were my brother, I’d be livid in the school office and they would definitely end up issuing you a written apology and a policy addendum about appropriate staff conduct.

Secondly, in regard to the post below: I have two surf-style mini skirts from “Juicy Couture”, a brand that is very very popular, if you like fashion. Right now, for girls, Juicy is a hot fad. Unfortunately I live in Hawaii, where people aren’t really into D&G, Juicy, etc…but fortunately so I thought, people in Hawaii walk around in bikinis everywhere, the grocery store, Starbuck’s, etc… My juicy skirts have a large version of the logo “JUICY” across the butt…when I’ve worn these out in public, I get a ton on negative comments, mostly from heavy set women, and snickers from guys, even though I wear it quite conservatively. When I’ve worn it to Waikiki, mainland girls excitedly have asked me where I got my skirt, go figure.

Going back to the bikini wearers in the grocery store, if the girls aren’t voluptuous or if they’re heavy (we have a huge obesity problem here- no pun intended), no one bothers. But I have big boobs (have been 34D since 4th or 5th grade), am slender (35"x22"x33") and train…this is the way I’m built and SO WHAT. I never take offense by anyone’s body build, good fortune, etc…I’m secure in who I am and am happy and have a life. I try not to, but once in a blue moon after coming home from a long day at the beach and running late, I’ve had to rush into the grocery store to pick up dinner fixings, wearing a bikini and a paraeo wrap, and both times I’ve gotten so much flack and have even been called a “bitch” by a stranger (woman), in front of my eight year old nephew.

Seems like a double standard- it’s ok for a 300 pound woman to don heavy makeup, eensy weensie bikini top with part of her areola poking out, and tight miniskirt, but not ok for myself to wear a decently covered swim top and calf length paraeu wrap, or mini skirt with conservative top, toned down accessories and no makeup. Another peculiarity is that when I do run across a beautiful, put together woman, she often will say, “you are so gorgeous” and I will tell her, “you’re MORE gorgeous”, I’m happy for her and what really matters is if the person has a good heart…and she’s secure in herself as well to be happy for others.

It’s like the first post in this thread. People have nothing better to do, and nothing more intelligent to do than to judge people they don’t even know and then to look for trouble. I do think many T-Nation people are different in that we have a less judgemental attitude and are less superficial in the way that we don’t see a nice body and think “nice body…dick!” or feel jealous, but rather we tend to see all the work, disclpline and dedication that goes into it and also have the bigger picture of a healthy lifestyle and think “good for you!”.

Rant over.

I wish you were walking about my supermarket in your bikini Chinadoll. It would make my Saturday morning grocery run a whole lot more pleasent!

Like you , I just can’t help myself and I have to rant a bit too.

I think having these proportions makes it a lot easier for you to feel secure in who you are vs a woman who was born with a less awesome body. Working out can only get a person so far.

It’s no surprise that this women is happy for you and not jealous. She’s beautiful too. I would imagine that for an ugly woman, seeing you (who is still radiant in toned-down clothes and little makeup) just reminds her of her own inferiority. It’s her own fault that she doesn’t work out and eat right, but doing so will only take you so far.
However, her making any negative comment is just plain rude.

My point of view is different because I’m coming from a different age group (college) but 90% of the women at this age look great and there is absolutely no hard work involved.

Damn Nate, where do you go to school? I mean, there are definitely some good looking girls at my school, but 90%? Maybe you’ve got blinders on

Whoops I should have been more clear. I meant 90% OF THOSE who do look good . . . have not done any hard work to get there.

Actually it’s funny you say that. I can’t count the number of times I would think to myself that a girl is cute only to hear other guys point out little things that are wrong with her that I hadn’t even noticed. Maybe I do have blinders on to a certain extent.

Naw, makes sense. We all like different things. (muscles for instance)

I know what you mean about the 90% thing. Funny, because around 19 or 20 they start getting beer bellies… nice legs, nice ass, thin arms, but that nagging pouch-o-lard turns me off.

Give me a girl that works out anytime… she’s going to look good for far longer than any of those naturally cute girls that never work out.

Chinadoll: I hear you loud and clear. Jealous, tacky females are everywhere and are some of the most vocal - gee, imagine that. I also draw a lot of stares (and occasional comments) when out and about in comfy casual stuff and the no-makeup/hair-in-a-pony thing. For me though, it always conjures that Kelly LeBrock commercial “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful” and I shrug it off. Just take a deep breath, realize it’s because you’ve got it all going on and they’re just angry at life becuase of how they’re choosing to live it.

BTW, I have several pairs of Juicy sweat outfits and other stuff. Not only are they comfy as hell but they’re downright cute too! When I was Cali a lot last year I’d have to drive right by a Juicy shop to get groceries…talk about it being hard not to ‘just stop in’ and take a peek!

Oh yeah, hedo and Graphicsman: I’d be up for performing quality control and assessing product performance/reliablity tests on whatever Tim P/TC sends me in the way of prototypical chick gear.

Afterall, they’d need to know not just how an item looked - but how it performed. I’d have to have pics taken of both the string tank and thong going through various tests… How well do they move with the body when doing things such as squats and benches, etc? How do the thongs fit under clothing? How supportive is the tank?

Well to bad your not my sister It get’s boring in my house sitting her around here all day during the summer.

Yeah I agree sometimes I see fat nasty dimple ass girls in bikinis waddling around town. I’d much rather see a girl that is in shape walking around in a paraeu wrap and a decent bikini top that shows a decent amount of skin. I find it more attractive if a girl wears more then her underwear in public even if she has the body to do so. It shows some modesty, but if you want to walk around in a bikini go ahead.
