I had put on my Testosterone shirt on to wear around Freshman orientation (I was a mentor showing them around), then someone came up to me and asked if I took steroids. I answered no, then a few other teachers asked me about the shirt. After about 45 minutes walking around the school I was approached by someone on the staff and asked me once again if I was taking steroids and then told me that I needed to change my shirt or leave the campus. I asked her why, she then proceeded to tell me that the school does not support the hormone testosterone.
I was dumb founded. I thought to myself for a minute, is she sexist and believes that every man should be a little pansy bitch with titties or was she just ignorant to the fact that testosterone is what makes men, men. I told her that I would not take it off because this shirt had no steroid affliation and if she was so ignorant and prejudice maybe she should leave.
Nope. Just had one woman almost tear it off of me. She then offered me money for it. I’m gonna give the shirt to her and get a new one. Two hours later, a waitress flipped out when she saw me/it, and wanted to know what it was about, where from, all the usual stuff.
In your case that woman sounds like one of the castrating bitches of TC’s article on the subject.
You should have informed her that it would be harassment if you asked her to remove her shirt or leave and ask her if she had seen the err of her ways. If she still answers no, ask her to remove her shirt or leave…
I didn’t take off my shirt, I get asked sometimes by people stuff about it but that’s the first time someone has asked me to take it off.
If I wear it again I’ll have to explain it to her (I like to teach people) or whoever says something what it means. That I am not some pansy and that I don’t take steroids but the shirt is discribing the hormone that flows threw my body giving me hair on my nuts that you can suck if you disagree with me.
Don’t get me wrong I support steroids but I don’t take it have enough test going threw me to make me shaky in the morning without putting more in me.
It’s a provocative shirt and I know when I wear it people are going to have some of those ignorant thoughts about it’s meaning. You can shrug it off or explain to everybody what it means, but at a college you know it’s coming.
At the 24hr Fitness I go to, I saw this young kid about nine who was very overweight working with a trainer there. I thought it was odd because you never see kids that young in the gym at least not this one. Any way, I saw him week in and week out busting his fat little butt with his trainer and I felt proud of him so, I got him a small Testosterone shirt on one of my orders and gave it to him in front his trainer one day.
I proceeded to go start my workout and about thirty minutes later the kid, the trainer, and the kids mom, walk up to me and I thought maybe this wasn’t a good idea.
Well, the mom had a big smile on her face and thanked me for giving that to her kid she thought it was very cool and he liked it quite a bit.
The kicker is, I haven’t seen him at the gym for awhile now.
Just wondering, do “we” have any clever comebacks to use when people get all uppity and on your case like that? I’d like to have a few bullets of wisdom to whip out at knuckleheads, when needed.
I’m expecting my “T”-shirt to arrive any day now, and I just know it’ll lead to similar encounters at the gym, and at work (Casual Fridays, here I come!!)

Umm, women make testosterone and it’s extremely important to them, too. You should have told her to ask a biochem or med prof if the school should support testosterone.

I agree. It’s sad that a school of all places wants to ban “testosterone” - did any of your teachers even take Biology? o_O
I gave a presentation in front of a thousand people in my TESTOSTERONE shirt. I presented at SIGGRAPH, the largest computer graphics conference (which this year had only 29,000 people in attendence).
I don’t think anyone had any idea what the shirt represents, but I had both positive and negative feedback. Sure it might not have been the most professional shirt I could have worn, but I bet more people remembered/recognized me because of it.
Consequently, most of the negative feedback was from professors in my group at Davis, but it was more like they were shocked than really upset
I personally would never wear a shirt like that. People stare enough as it is if you have any above average amount of size on you. The average person is completely in the dark about their own hormones which makes me laugh when people try to debate about what the “majority” wants in this country in terms of laws and restrictions. For any teacher to request that you take a shirt off for having the name of a hormone on it shows how much ignorance is truly out there. Would she be offended if it read “ESTROGEN”? How about “INSULIN”?
I just don’t need the extra attention. It really makes me wonder why some of you act as if wearing it is such a big deal. Does this mean people don’t approach you about your muscles or training unless the shirt is on? I could see how it could be a conversation piece, but is anyone really wearing it for validation?

I agree I didn’t even think about it causing anything. I don’t like to make things worse but it happend. I don’t plan on wearing it in public really. I wore it for the first time today to much attention I’ll stick with my overly baggy clothes, that just shows my shoulders and forearms off.

I don’t know but this just shows that teachers don’t actually need to be smart to get a job. Most of my teachers are smart some are dumb…she was dumb.

Dude wear your shirt and have fun with it. It’s a cool site and they make some great products. I like to plug them whenever I can because they run an ethical business that I admire and I can cruise this site for free. If my shirt sells some Carbolin or Grow then it’s a good thing for everybody.
