T-Nation Qualities

This is sort of a random question but I was just thinking the other day about how a lot of people just lack certain characteristics and can just be straight up assholes. For example my bro was at his friends little brothers graduation party. Anyway he is in room and this dumb ass is trying to impress people by talking a lot of shit about stuff he does not know anything about. Like about the speed of sound and Mach numbers etc. Well someone asks him to go into more detail and he kind of skirts the question. My bro is sitting there and totally knows what he is talking about but he doesnt open his mouth. Someone who knows my bro is an engineer finally speaks up and says, “Hey you are an engineer what exactly is he talking about.”

So my bro gives a brief explanation about Mach numbers and how you can actually go faster than the speed of sound. This dude is pissed because he looks like a dumbass so he starts going off about how my bro must think he is so smart and asking him all these questions. Then he finally goes well so what kid I still make more money then you. My bro responded, “Well I am happy for you,” and left. Personally I would have given him a kick to the face.

Anyway I just cant stand idiotic people. So what qualities do you think are the most important to possess?

For my I think it would have to be strength and honor. And when I say strength I mean more like inner strength. As in the strength to do whats right like to get up in the morning when you are dead ass tired and still go workout. And honor to others and most importantly yourself. Is it really so hard to be respectful to other people? Like what the hell ever happened to saying excuse me or thank you. I mean you can still be a “man” and still say that thank you or did I miss that memo? I am not saying that you have to be some coward and constantly getting on your knees to kiss someones ass but come on what ever happened to being civilized. There are some times when someone is gonna be an asshole and maybe they deserve an ass kicking but I generally dont think it takes a bigger man to say excuse me or something along those lines and let the asshole go on with their miserable life.

Integrity.

Perseverence

Respect for yourself which will translate into respect for others. I had a wrestling coach that every day gave me shit about having my t-shirt tucked into me pants, and when I asked him why? He said in order to have resoect for yourself you need to respect how you look, it sounds weird now but at the time it was real profound and I think about it from time to time, also my football coach used to make us say before we went into the weight room “I’m here to work I’m here to improve” and that also imparted in me a certain work ethic. Peopel now just have it to easy and are lazy

Integrity.

Trustworthy.

Respectful and Respectable.

The ability to stick to one’s convictions and to make a stand with them.

Self respect, honor, integrity and the willingness to admit to your limits. Takes a bigger man to say Hey I don’t know how to do this, I need help than to try and bullshit through it and screw the whole thing up. Be it a project at home work, kicking a bad habit, whatever. Know thy self first before you can know others.

Let me add sense of humor in case anyone gets cranky about this one.

With pimpin you must also add the qualities of shrewd business sense, an eye for commercial opprutunities and the skill of smackin dem ho’s when they need it.

And yes, a broad ranging sense of humor is a good thing to have as well.

I like what Dan Reeves said. Humility and knowing you are not the center of the universe and you do not know everything. I’m not saying I have that, just that it’s a good quality. I also think an open mind paired with the ability to tell when something is stupid or wrong is also good. I don’t have that either, but it would be nice to have.

The ability to STFU. There’s a lot of people I work with that could use that.

Along the same line as knowing when to STFU. The ability to understand when to speak TFU. Knowing those choice times when what you have to say is important and not just useless oxygen wasting. Or recognizing a situation or encounter that requires a response or you just may miss it. Having the ability and gumpyion to see this and do something about it.

That is another T- quality IMO

I think there are many qualities that are important, but one of my favorites is Moral Courage. My definition of Moral Courage…

A person who is courageous in the face of ethical challenges, does the right thing even if it?s not popular, refuses to stand idly by while others engage in unethical or harmful behavior, and will not sacrifice aspirations when confronted by aversity.
