This was my #1 for about a decade. It was originally a Westone Corsair (Jackson copy), but I cracked the neck doing a ‘spin’ (the strap came undone and the guitar went about 10 feet and landed on the headstock).
The replacement neck is a Warmouth reverse headstock birdseye maple with a scalloped (13th fret up) rosewood fingerboard.
That’s an EMG 85 in the bridge.
I still have this guitar, disassembled in case.
Ah dude that is one beautiful guitar
Thanks, man. I bought that when I was upgrading a cheap strat copy (which was my second guitar). I was on a Trevor Rabin kick, probably 16 years old or so. Lo and behold Trevor was endorsing “Westone” guitars and the local shop had two brand new Corsairs - yellow and robin egg blue (see pic). I went with yellow (liked the H-S-H pickup configuration vs. H-S-S).
The Corsair was the 2nd to top of the line and the necks were wonderful (My yellow guitar’s original headstock looked like the on in this pic). I think that was a $400 guitar back then (paid for by gig money-- not bad for a highschool kid playing out every weekend). Pretty nice stock tone, but I wanted screaming sustain (hence the EMG 85).
I have to admit the replacement neck is light years beyond the original (compound radius 10"-16" vs. original 16").
Haven’t played live for a year now… seriously getting the itch.
I want to put together a blues/funk project. 3 piece (G/B/D), maybe a 4 piece if I can find someone who can play a Hammond organ.
My #1 is my American Tele, but I’ve been eying up PRS and Bakers. I’d love to go with a Les Paul but I just don’t see that any time soon. No LP Studio shit… If I go LP, I’m going all out.

I am biased, but I haven’t found a better blues/rock guitar than my Gibson V

with players like you guys I hate to even post. have a Goya classical that should be with a real player instead of me and an old Phantom that I’m going to try to rebuild. all I do is noodle around with them once in a while. I played sax for years but had my Selmer mk6 tenor stolen years beck and I haven’t really done anything since but this thread has me putting new strings on.
a site that has been used by some people I know and they got some great deals and some strange gear. one of them is thinking of buying this bass. details from the site: “Specific” bass in stingray tradition. A synthesis of Warmoth fancy woods neck and body, big Alembic soapbar in bridge position driven by active tone Bartolini circuit.
Federal agents swooped in on Gibson Guitar Wednesday, raiding factories and offices in Memphis and Nashville, seizing several pallets of wood, electronic files and guitars. The Feds are keeping mum, but in a statement yesterday Gibson’s chairman and CEO, Henry Juszkiewicz, defended his company’s manufacturing policies, accusing the Justice Department of bullying the company. “The wood the government seized Wednesday is from a Forest Stewardship Council certified supplier,” he said, suggesting the Feds are using the aggressive enforcement of overly broad laws to make the company cry uncle.

It’s wonderful how they spend our money, isn’t it?

Ah - this old thread. Here’s a little Pink - I shredded it up a bit…lol…

Now do one where you solo all over that bitch!
Ha ha - well, I threw in a tapping lick over her “rap” in the middle. I actually like Pink - I think she has a powerhouse voice, and she’s definitely a rocker at heart - despite that first hip-hop album.
If nothing else, I think this will be great for my son’s learning. He’s 10 and has a hard time focusing on guitar practice.
I’m going to play the shit out of it myself too. I got into playing guitar via Guitar Hero and Rock Band, and this is basically the same thing taken to its logical conclusion.
