Ninja I’ll add this. I have a Line 6 UX1 Recording interface that I use. The Pod Farm program that comes with it does a really nice job of emulating different amp setups through your computer, so you may want to look into that as a cheap and quiet alternative to the Crate head.

Will do!
So it’s only like my 2nd or 3rd day with the guitar, and I got to say I find even just doing the simple stuff like working on basic chords and stuff extremely fun. Obviously finger speed and precision is really lacking, but I don’t see this as a ‘chore’ in any shape or form. I just want to start playing songs! lol
@SteelNation thanks for the recommendation for Justin’s website. It’s been extremely helpful. Is that what you used to learn?

I use it now but I didn’t find it til I had been playing for over a year already. Of course when I discovered it my first thought was “I wish I had known about this a year ago” LOL.
Not sure if I posted this recently, but here are some random clips collected over the past 4 years. Sound quality sucks since I was using a digital camera.
If you’re short on time, check out my favorites:
Amadd9 arpeggio
Sweeping the staircase
Arpeggios in D (Bm)
Nevermore - Final Product
Nevermore - River Dragon

My one piece of advice: use your 4th finger (pinky)! It’s uncomfortable and uncoordinated at first, I know … but resist the urge to only use your other 3. I wasted my first 3 years of playing because I just wasn’t comfortable with the 4th finger. It took 4 months to break the habit and it was the best idea I had. Follow the one-finger-per-fret rule whenever it’s feasible.

Right about the pinky. How many awesome players don’t use their pinky?
Right…
njrusmc- are you bedroom shredding or out gigging?

You DO NOT want to hear me sing, let alone yodel.
Ever heard Jewel yodel? She’s like a shredding yodeler, if such a thing exists…

Best storefront ever!
Why can’t I get anyone’s vids to play?

Nice thick tone! What’s the axe, what’s in front of the 5150? I always thought that head sounded super thin, and I know the metal guys like 'em, but yours sounds good.

Thanks. That 5150 head is about 15 years old - it has a great tone but it’s not very versatile - only one set of tone controls for clean and dirty channels. I’m eventually moving on to a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier - that is my dream head. I’m running thru an old Roland DEP-5 for some delay and chorus (the rack mounted piece underneath), with a Boss Super Overdrive for added gain/sustain, into a Boss NS-1 Noise Supressor.
The guitar is my main axe - had it since I was 19 years old. Custom built BC Rich strat with a 24 fret ebony neck, a Dimarzio X2-N in the bridge and a Dimarzio HS-3 in the neck position.
