Anyone do these for shoulder with? One person I talked to swears by them for developing width in the shoulders
Bigger back = wider shoulders.
Big lats push the shoulders out.
That said, T rows is a back exersise, but not specifically for the lats.
Do clean and presses for that. Rows are great for back “thickness,” (I hate using that term, but you know what I mean) but C&P’s are better for a skinny guy trying to add width.

Yeah! C&P is awesome.
I don’t think you can beat lateral deltoid machines for really developing the shoulders, but adding in a good amount of face pulls and the like will help with shoulder width.
I’m trying to develop this as one of my strong points and im under the belief that adding in a good amount of rowing exercises will help.

They sure are!

I’m actually having some issues w/ building up shoulder width. Seem to have a problem hitting my medial and rear delts :(. My current shoulder workout is:
Military Press
Gironda Lateral Raises
Cable Bent-over Lateral Raises
Reverse Pec-deck machine
I would love to do more exercises or w/e, but I just don’t know how to, lol. And I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to occasionally “cheat” the weight up and focus on the negs (a-la front raises). Finally, no clue on what a good range of reps would be… Erh.

Hahah!
Now I can not only do clean & presses, but I can save money too!
T-Bar rows are just fine. Not everyone needs to worry about clean and presses to get a thicker back.
HEAVY pulldowns (and weighted pullups if your form stresses the lats properly) build back width. The Top half of the movement (full stretch) is important. Yes, you will need to use a “bit” of body english when you’re pulling down 300-400 pounds.
NOTE: if you’re pulling down 160 pounds and swinging all over the place, you haven’t a clue what you’re doing.
The DC lat stretch manoeuver is great if done consistently.
T bar rows are better for thickness imo.
Also if you have very narrow clavicles relative to hips and are post-puberty, you may want to more strongly focus on the deltoids instead. Back width won’t be your strong suit anytime soon.

Would it be a good diea to start doing the lat stretches? My lats are pathetic.

These stretches are…
type in dc extreme stretches in google and you should find them. its basically a weighted wide grip pullup held in the stretched position.
Pulls/pullups/chinups+lateral&rear delts+general bigger frame=greater shoulder width.
You seriously don’t do these? At your age you will respond to it beautifully. Look at the difference it made in David Henry’s lat spread?
BTW there’s a controversial technique some of us used to “tweak” our shoulder blades to overnight add inches to our lat spreads, but it takes some effort. It was very common back in the muscle control days where youd see competitors “unhinge” their shoulders before pushing them apart.

You just had to stir up the storm ? ![]()
I know. Probably shouldn’t have mentioned this, I guess…I’ll see if I can dig up a video illustrating what I’m referring to (the unhingeing) and pray that I am forgiven lol.
