Also that is a decent first day back, how are you feeling?
Pretty good. Encouraging!

Damn glad to see you back, that stinks about the hip but push/pull is nothing to sneeze at.
Never even thought about a push/pull meet. Duh.

is there anything that can be done for the hip?

Hip replacement.
I’m getting a second opinion at the end of the month. I will have waited almost nine weeks to see this guy. I wouldn’t even consider a joint replacement at this point.

Still testing the waters on lower body. So funny but now that I have a nasty diagnosis on my hip, I don’t let the pain interfere as much. How’s that for mental neurosis? I’m going to try squatting on Friday with my feet very, very close. Probably just the bar or some such (hee, hee). We shall see. Also will resume benching on Wednesday. That might be ugly as I tend to lose upper body strength very quickly.
I’m in a holding pattern with my hip. Waiting to see a specialist. Self-diagnosis is torn cartilage (labrum). It just kills me that I can’t squat. My favorite lift. I can still deadlift. Sort of. Very narrow stance and not a lot of hip thrust.
Doing boot camp 3x week.
Pic of my kids at the beach this summer.
I really want to compete again.

Is that the same daughter I think you video recorded deadlifting? I had thought she was brunette, I hope my memory isn’t going all to hell. A beach in Colorado? you must have a few lakes.

Debating whether I should deadlift again on Friday. I was going to spread my sessions out to every ten days to protect my hip. But I’m really jonesing to hit it again since it went well last week.

My hip is, unfortunately, quite bad. I won’t be squatting any weight anytime soon. Probably never.
Never? That would be terrible. Really you think never?
I don’t mean to sound dramatic. But my MRI showed that my hip labrum (cartilage) is so damaged that it is basically irreparable (torn, frayed, thinning, and detached). Also, I have arthritis and two cysts in the joint. No wonder it’s been hurting! The first orthopedist I saw recommended a hip replacement. No thanks.
I think I can squat with my feet very, very close. But I can’t move any weight. Who knows, though. It is a bit sad to me since wide-stance squats were my absolute favorite lift. No use crying over spilled milk. It’s just time to develop a new favorite.

No thanks because they are going to charge you a billion dollars or no thanks cuz surgery is a super last resort and could be dangerous?
If it comes to that, I bet it would allow you to squat again though. Ed Coan got a hip replacement a while back; I guarantee he still squats like a maniac!

No thanks because I’ve had three orthopedic surgeries in the last five years. Joint issues.
I knew Eddie got a new hip. In Norway, I believe. I think heavy squatting to parallel or past is contraindicated big time with an artificial hip. And my fed requires pretty deep squats.
Who knows. Maybe I can squat respectably with my feet very tight in. Time will tell.
