Bummer on injury.
The military boot camp class sounds interesting.
I promise we would be interested how you are making out in this class, has to be some sort of torture going on if its anything like the ones Ive heard about.
Hang in there!

I’m in a holding pattern with my hip. Waiting to see a specialist. Self-diagnosis is torn cartilage (labrum). It just kills me that I can’t squat. My favorite lift. I can still deadlift. Sort of. Very narrow stance and not a lot of hip thrust.
Doing boot camp 3x week.
Pic of my kids at the beach this summer.
I really want to compete again.
Kids look like their mama!
I can only imagine what he was saying in that pic. Great looking kids.
Nice to see what you are up to.
Whats a day of BC look like?
You will compete again!
wow, kids grow up fast, don’t they?
That’s a great picture of your kids and the water. Its got a real existential je ne sais quois.
You’ll compete again, probably sooner than you think. I know how it is to not be able to do one of the things you love but you’ll come out stronger for it. I bet the bootcamp things are uping your work capacity as well.
Snap, your kids have really grown! You produce nice-looking offspring.
I am so sorry to hear that you are again dealing with injury. I salute your boot camp efforts while you wait to compete again.
As for me, I’ve spent the past five months doing what amounts to rehab work for my incredibly weak hips - the root cause of my intractable knee cave. Essentially, I haven’t squatted or deadlifted or benched heavy in all that time. I’ve gotten WAY better at reverse crunches and hip thrusts and my core is definitely way stronger, although still not where it needs to be. The knee cave isn’t beaten yet, though its slowly, slowly improving.
Luckily for me, I don’t jones for the lifting platform like you do so I’ve accepted this situation. The biggest benefit to taking one million steps backward, though, is I haven’t gotten injured during this time. Despite ramping up my running mileage substantially to train for a half marathon. As you might recall, I had quite a few injuries during the last few years, although you sure beat me as to severity.
Bottom line: I hope you find a path back to the platform. It may involve quite a detour, but if you need a fellow detour-taker to commiserate with, you know how to find me.
All the best,
Kimba
Hope your hip injury is getting manageable. I have hip arthritis sometimes that is a real pain in the ass or thereabouts. Are you able to do any hip opener movements i.e. yoga work or mobility type lunges. Mobilitywod.com has some great hip mobility work that has helped me and Cressey has various tips that can be useful. I’m being presumptuous in assuming you can do stretching and mobility work but if you are able it may be worth it. And, you might have already tried so I could be just presuming again. Anyway, hope your hips feel better. Hip injuries suck.
Hiatus over.
My hip is, unfortunately, quite bad. I won’t be squatting any weight anytime soon. Probably never. But I’m going to put forth my best effort in deadlift and bench and just see how far I can go with it. Won’t be winning any competitions. But choosing to not powerlift leaves an even worse taste in my mouth than being less than I was before.
So I was back at it today after many, many weeks off. Wasn’t sure if I could deadlift. But I can. I’m a little rusty.

Sweet! I’m glad you are back at it!
YEah!
You are getting some nice dead hang chins, what if you kept widening your grip too so you get some width on your back for that benching? huh, huh?
Also that is a decent first day back, how are you feeling?
Damn glad to see you back, that stinks about the hip but push/pull is nothing to sneeze at.
Snap sorry that your hip is in rough shape…but a tip of the hat for pushing forward with your other lifts…best of luck!
P.S. I too would like to get to 20 chins…i’ll keep checking your chin progress!
Nice work snap. Good to have you posting again!!! This whole o35 thread is full of great stuff!
Sorry about the hip, but really nice to see you back!
I hope the hip heals up like your shoulder did. You’re a warrior and I’m sure you’ll recover from this.
Great to see you back at it. Nice comeback workout.
Just came back and already deadlifting more than I can.
Nicely done.
sorry to hear about the hips. no squatting sucks. is there anything that can be done for the hip?
i am happy to see you adapting-i really enjoy reading about your training.
