I post my stuff on FB now so my ‘training partner’ can see what I’m doing when we aren’t together. Then he critiques my videos and gets me cross. This was today

Thursday October 8, GL Burlington

Warm up

Squat
45-10
95-5
135-5
165-3
185-3
205-2
225-2,2,1 in wraps
185-3 belt only

Bench
45-10
65-5
95-3
105-6,5,5,4,4,4
115-1
On my second set of 105, some guy loomed into my vision and grabbed the bar and tried to pull it away from me. I sat up and yelled at him asking what the hell he was doing. Apparently he thought I was struggling and tried to rescue me. It really knocked me back because I was totally focused on what I was doing. I had the bar locked out and was breathing setting up to bring it down. Idiot! He has a supplemental shit hole now.

Pin start high squats

Hip height
135-5
185-5,5

Waist height
205-5
225-5

I haven’t done these in a bit and they were tough. pin start high squats - YouTube

Also, on the pin squats, the pins are actually at hip and waist height. Because the camera is set so low, it makes it look like the pins are at my earballs. The hip swing up is so that I can make sure the bar is dead on the pins and straighten my legs. My hips have been barking like bitches lately due to all the non-dynamic type stretching.

This isn’t an update on my training, which, by the way is going pretty well. This is a congratulations to one of our quieter members of T-Nation.

Last Saturday Sensgirl competed at our Provincial Championships in Ottawa, went 7 for 9 and got her elite total. For those who don’t know, that means she’s a kick ass power lifter and one of the best lifters in the country. I expect to see big things from her. Soooo… congratulations!!

Thanks ouroboro! She probably won’t reply (as you say, she’s pretty quite), but she saw this and it definitely put a big smile on her face.

If anyone wants to watch video of her lifts it is at:

Wow! Fantastic lifting in Ottawa!

haha!

OK, that made my day.

To be fair, here’s something for you to laugh at me for.

As you know I train alone, so when benching I set up the pins so that when my arch collapses the bar is a couple inches above my chest. Well last week, I realized that while benching in a shirt the pin heights aren’t very good for racking/unracking. The one I usually use is fairly low but with a shirt if puts too much strain on my elbows. The other higher pin is too high for unracking. So I put the bunch on some 2x6s under the bench so the higher pin height is now great for unracking.

So last week I’m on my heaviest set (5 reps with 260lbs), struggle to lock it out, go to rack it… I realize the weight has settled in and now I can’t rack the weight. No problem, I’ll just bring it down and let it rest on the pins. So the weight comes down, I collapse my arch, and … the weights STILL on my chest! Stupid here never realized that prior to putting the bench on the 2x6s, the pins were only 1" over my chest.

It’s a good thing I have my good looks to fall back on in life.

RL I still think you need to post the bench fail video. You say you didn’t tape it but I’m not buying what you’re selling.

I played around with my deadlift on Saturday. Actually, I trashed myself and am still recovering. I started with deadlifts, deficit deads, squatted and benched. Then I pulled again in my garage. I’m going to cut out squatting and pulling on the same day for a while.

Anyway, here is my deadlift video. I did deficits conventional and it felt good so after I did them I did a couple sets conventional. I’m going to train both for a while and see what happens. deadlift form change - YouTube

anybody home?

Ouro, I was just catching up on your log.

Thanks for all the details. It really makes me want to work harder.

Best to you and all the hormone treatment.

You kill it each time. Love to see that.

I’m still training. Right now I’m following a modified sheiko template. Last week I tried seated goodmornings for the first time. The were kind of awkward but fun. Right now the template has two variations of good mornings per week. I may change one to rows.

Ive tried them, and found them awkward, somehow you made them graceful.

nice work

you look kinda hot in that video…just sayin

It must be the space heater I had running to heat the garage. It’s going to get pretty nipply by December so I heat it and then I’m suddenly really freaking hot.

x2

I keep a space heater in the bedroom of my 2nd apt. The rest of the house is 50 but it’s about 75 in here. There’s no happy medium. Too cold or too hot. They need to make a goldilocks heater.

happy to see you still working hard…

Lookin good too!

This is the end of week three of a 4 week sheiko cycle. After next week, I’m taking a week to fuck around in gear. After that, it’s another 4 week cycle. 2 weeks in I’m squatting straps down. When that’s done, it’s a 4 week peaking cycle. Last Sunday I tried my suit on again and it’s tight as crap.

I’m sitting around 59kg right now so I still have a couple of pounds to gain. All the weight is in my legs and ass which is nice but holy crap, the suit is tight. I tried a couple of sets last weekend with 240. I couldn’t get to parallel. This is one set: straps up knee sleeves squats - YouTube. I might as well have been sitting down on a stack of bricks. It stopped me that much.

damn u have some strong, long legs.

Those were some low squats on 190. I especially loved seeing this because 190 is my squat goal. Someday.

i’m at a loss for words…holy fuckballs, batman?! that was very impressive!!! wow…

you’ve come a long way!
