Sweet Pollyanna in LaLa land

Rack Pulls
This week I did them conventional to give my hips a rest and pulled about and inch lower. Holy crap it was a lot harder. Again, I don’t know if it’s because I’m tired or it’s the change in position

I wouldn’t even try to compare the two, they are really different lifts. The can compliment each other nicely, but they are not the same.

If you want a comparison, then wait until you do conventional rack pulls again and compare them to these.

As for the squats, it’s just a bad day/not recovered from the 285s a couple days earlier. You know that weight isn’t a problem for you, so just move on.

I have similar plans as you regarding the belt, only mine will be some gear as my only Christmas/birthday gifts for the foreseeable future. :)
You’re absolutely right about comparing the lifts. I was just surprised at how much less I lifted doing it conventional. I haven’t done it in a while and I felt it so much more in my back. I’m just doing it conventional for the next week or two to give my hips a bit of a break. I won’t be doing much heavy dead lifting before the meet. Because my squat is now so wide, that will substitute for deadlifting for the time being.

I hear you about the Christmas gifts. That’s what happens when we have kids that get all the good gifts. We get socks

I can’t imagine sumo rack pulls. I’d almost certainly destroy something really important.

Is that what they are calling it these days, huh.

Yes, D, that is what the kids are calling it these days :)
Better that than a double prong then! I hear those belts are allways a pain in the ass!

Okay, that made me laugh hard. That’s about the only good thing about them.

I’m constantly getting bitched out by everyone that has to help gear me up and tighten a double prong belt.

By the way, this is what my hands are looking like right now. They keep tearing. I got liquid skin on the weekend to paint over the torn bits. I just keep painting new layers on. Pretty scabby looking.

I don’t think anyone is lining up for hand jobs. That’s for sure.

FWIW, I will do straps up, no wraps in training because wrapping my own knees is too exhausting, too much work. The knees wraps always end up being a sweet surprise when I get that bounce.

O-S - Sorry i am a bit late back SMS is short message service…Or texting on your mobile…We are bit slow here in Australia

Cool callouses too !

Thursday July 30, GL Burlington

Warm up

Power Cleans
95X3
100x3
105x3x3

During all these sets there was a fat chick with a trainer ‘working’ in the smith machine. I can’t say I actually saw her do more than lean against it. Regardless, she seemed to pick her time to walk around for stuff really close to me just when I was cleaning the weight. I wouldn’t have been surprised had she tried to step over the bar.

Squat
45x10
95x5
135x5
165x3
195x1 - belt
225x3 straps down
245x3 "
250x5x3 "
265x3 straps up wraps

I did the last set to get an immediate comparison on the feel of adding wraps. I taped them all and found I sat back much more easily and went deeper with wraps.

CG Bench
95x3x5

Pause Bench
95x5x3

Good mornings
95x5
135x5
155x5
175x3x5

This was a much better day than Monday. I had a ton more energy and the squats felt better. I’m still working to get better depth though.

Those are some nice looking good mornings…good work.

Here is the link to last nights squats. Straps down are a bit high in my opinion but the minute I have wraps on, I sink them.

I should have my size 28 suit soon. I’m also getting some new wraps from Titan. They are almost as stiff as the THPs but they are stretchy as fuck and you’re supposed to get a lot of wraps out of them. I can’t wait to try them out. Plus the colour is good: black and lime green.

I like doing good mornings. I like them so much in fact, my squats sometimes resemble them

The more I watch the most recent video, the more I realise my depth sucks except for the last set. Man I really have to focus on forcing my butt down. When I was squatting I was focusing on pushing myself down. It wasn’t enough though.

If you could fix my squats while you are at it that would be great, k? Thanx.

OH! OH! I see what you did there!

if u start doing stiff legged romanian curls im calling shenanigans on the whole thing.

(think about those guys that barbell curl 20-30lbs more than they can actually handle. kinda like an air hump but the weight keeps em from flying off the ground.)

These went well today. Watch the video and look at the guy watching me when I’m doing 275. He watched me warm up with 225 and his eyes were bugging out when I went to 255. When I pulled off the 5’s and 10s and put 25s on for 275 I thought he was going to blow a load. He kept saying I was so strong and he was going to tell his friends about me. Apparently I have veins coming out my eyeballs. I think he went to the bathroom to rub one out when I went to 295 for my working sets.

My depth was good on all of them. A few were grinders as I got more tired. I find it harder without a spotter sometimes for encouragement. 295 is 10 lbs below my current max. Hopefully next Saturday I’ll have my frenchman spotting me again.

Deadlift
135x5
225x3 straps down
275x3x3 straps up

At this point I’d been at the gym for 2 hours and had to get groceries.

Later, after groceries and driving my 15 year old daughter to meet a 15 year old boy who I had to meet while the daughter crawled into a hole, I finished…

August 1, Garage
Bench
45x10
65x5
95x3
105x3
110x1
115x1
120x1
125x0 - got pinned
105x3x3

I met a sweet mid-40s lady today at the meet, she just started training and wants to someday bench her bodyweight. She is like you - a very slender stork - so I bragged on you for a while.

She was all into you, until I got to the “Oh, and she’s Canadian” part. Some people are just really assholes.

Thanks for bragging on me. Whenever I get compliments on what I’m doing I brag on you and Court like if they think I’m impressive you should see what these guys do.

Maybe next time you can mention my eyeball veins

Did he survive?

Squats looked good, really nice work. How are the hands holding up?

The boy survived. He was quite a little cutie. My daughter may not survive. I’ve already yelled at her and she isn’t even home. Who else remembers what it’s like to be a completely self centred teenager?

My hands are feeling fine. Why do you ask?

Weren’t you having callus tearing problems a little bit ago?
