I went to Brantford this evening to train with one of the CPO guys there. We’ve been emailing back and forth on facebook and he invited me down. I know a couple of other women that train with him and decided to make the trip. It was well worth it. I enjoy training with different people because they may be telling you the same information but the way in which they present it suddenly clicks with you.
Anyway
Warmup
Bench
45x1x10
65x1x5
95x1x3
105x1x1
Shirt on
175x1x3 - 3 boards
185x1x2 - 3 boards
155x1x3 - 1 board
155x2x1 with commands
135x1x1 with commands
I now have a better feel for what my attempts will be in Ottawa but I’m going to get into the shirt another 2-3 times before the meet to fine tune stuff.
Squat
50x2x10 (The numbers will be a bit odd because the bar was actually 50lbs)
100x1x5
140x2x5
170x1x3
200x1x1 - belt
230x1x1 - suit on straps down
260x1x1 - suit on straps up-knees wrapped
280x1x1 - easy. This is my opener and I felt like I could easily do it for a triple.
FTR, I was getting my shirt jacked when I heard Michael Jackson died.

Nice work! It’s always good when there are no misses.

Thanks. At this point, I’d have had a spazz if I missed on squat. However with bench I’m still figuring it out. He thinks I should get a lot more out of my shirt. I’ll probably go down and work with him again.
It was fun doing 185 off three boards. That’s the most weight I’ve done on bench even if it was off boards. It was pretty intimidating for me at first. The more I do it though, the more comfortable I’ll get with it.
so was the three boards or three fishsticks?
this is your first week back in gear or just in the shirt?
I thought you used the suit last week too.

Last night was my third time back in my shirt and the fourth time back in my suit. What’s happening with the flow chart you were making of my power lifting extraordinariness ? If you need me to send you a powerpoint outline, just let me know ![]()
A couple of oddball things to note:
My weight a few minutes ago was 56 kg. Down from this morning. Weird 'cause normally I’m up a kg at the end of the day. Must be the heat.
I got a message from my room mate for the meet. She is on the waiting list and may not be competing so I may not have to share a bed with Diana. We may each get our own. Potential spooning is on hold.
Today at lunch time, I was out walking and a coworker/friend stopped his truck to tell me that not only did I look hot but I looked the happiest he’s ever seen me and I was glowing. That was very nice to hear. Not so much the hot part because that’s neither here nor there but to be visibly happy and glowing is lovely.
I just ate 1/2 pineapple which was sweet, juicy and delicious but now my tongue feels like it was dipped in acid.

I got stuck on the pictures part, and never made it past…i got distracted.
your four point update sounds good.
Dianab once again off the hook.

Nice to be all happy and glowing, good work, what have you been doing that you’re not telling us about?
I thought Lisa was a confirmed lifter, wonder how long that waiting list is.
No spooning is better anyways, you are to deprived for me LOL

I’m not sure when Anita sent her stuff in but I told her she’d likely make it in since she’s first on the list. There’s always a bit of attrition.
I can eat a lot of pineapple but then I always think I should have stopped sooner.
Today I took a trip into Toronto to train with W.E.C. and a couple of his guys. I mostly sat and watched them do a bunch of heavy freaking pin presses and then move to heavier deadlifts with bands. I also gabbed and gossiped and generally enjoyed everyones company.
When I wasn’t doing that, W.E.C. helped get me in my shirt not once but twice helping me figure out the best way to get it to work. After Ottawa, I may take in the bottom seams to make the sleeves tighter. I don’t want to do it yet because I’m getting used to it now and don’t want to screw myself up. I’ll get a lot more out of it with tighter sleeves though.
I think I’m pretty set on what my attempts will be but will get back into the shirt a couple more times before the meet.

Let me know the exact line he used to get you in and out of your shirt repeatedly. I want to remember it for future reference. ![]()
Did you do any heavy pressing of just light technique work?

We skipped all the board work and went right to 135. We finished at 155. I’m still not going to have a kick ass bench but it’s getting better for sure. We worked on technique and figuring out what would be the best attempts for me at my current size in my current shirt. I think it will be: 60 kg (132), 65 kg (143) and 70 kg (154). To give you some reference, I finished at nationals with my second attempt at 60kg. The current national record for M1 56kg is Anita M. at 82.5 KG. The open record is Heather A. at 90.5 kg.
This is all to say that while I won’t be breaking any bench records, it’s getting somewhat less embarrassing as a lift
My short term goal is to take it from somewhat less, to significantly less embarrassing.
Even looking back at this year’s results at nationals, the final successful bench attempts across all ages in my weight class were 60, 65, 70.5, 75, 90.5. Mine of course was the lowest one.
Regarding the shirt, you just have to be a smooth as W.E.C. to get me in and out of my shirt twice ![]()
That’s some good progress in only a few months.
Sunday, June 29, GL Burlington
So first off, my weight this morning was 55 KG (121 lbs) despite consuming a couple beer and a huge sirloin steak with potatoes for dinner. Because I’ve been tracking my weight for a while, I tracked back to the last time it dipped for no apparent reason and it was 25 days ago. I think it’s a female thing and expect it to go back closer to 56 in the next day or so. At least I hope it does. My suit was very loose today.
Warm up and mobility
Squat (as warm up for deadlift)
45x2x10
95x1x5
135x1x5
Deadlift
135x5
175x3
205x2 belt on
225x1 suit on straps down
250x1 suit on straps up
280x1 suit on straps up - this is my opener
250x2x2 working on form and leaning back into my suit
Squat
135x5
165x7x3
Walk outs
275
305
325x2
I’m not certain on the walk out protocol and whether it’s meant to be done in gear. However, I was too lazy to get my suit back on or wrap my knees so I did it with a belt only. I walked it out and counted to 20 slowly in my head. Highly technical I know.
CG Bench
45x10
85x3x8
Pull ups
12, 9, 7
I bought a 2" leather tool belt from Home Depot that will work very nicely for a belt for benching. I just have to drill a few additional holes. It was $20. This was a nice recommendation by WEC yesterday because I have a tough time keeping my arch with the think Inzer belt.
This is going to sound utterly retarded but does 315-315 “feel” heavy when you are going those walk outs? When I do my calf raises at 315 the weight always feels stupidly heavy. Of course it could just be that I’m weak and I suck.

It feels crushingly heavy. More so with just a belt than in gear that is supporting your joints. That’s why people do heavy walk outs. You can squat a fair amount in gear but the mental issue of just getting under a bar that heavy and walking with it can psych you out. I need to know what that weight will feel like on my back in three weeks and feel comfortable that I can move with it. FTR, that was 2.7 times my bodyweight. Given the right circumstances/adrenaline rush, I should be able to squat it in gear since 315 was so close.
